If nobody is doing anything (including myself), don't expect something to happen. Has anyone been in contact with mlagoo about his ID? It would be easier to retrieve the money if we have his personal details.

I PMed mlagoo, Lego05 is the mod in charge of this (because he got rolled as well). They have his personal information, but they're deciding what to do from a legal perspective.

Regardless, you have to be really suspicious in that kind of situation. Maybe I can only say this in hindsight -- but the whole proposition was pretty absurd (certainly with such little history). It all sounds so sweet until your horse blows your entire roll. What motivation, in an anonymous internet forum, does he have to pay it out of his own pocket? (And, really, why would any thinking person be staked in this manner?)

I think he had every intention of paying back. Then he just ran super bad and had little to no success in live or online play. Mere speculation here, but I think it played out like this;

Do really well in live and online play - start paying people back.

Bomb big time in live and online play - holy **** I can never pay these people back, I am out of here.

As for reasons for this type of staking arangement he stated that he was trying to convince his GF that it was viable for him to play poker full time and quit his job etc. Probably pretty thin reasoning, as you say, with hindsight.

As posted earlier it was all probably a bit too good to be true but there were a couple of solid investors who got in on it too, and that can add an element of credibility that this proposal maybe would not have had otherwise.

I guess it all just proves that there is always an element of risk involved. Personally I invested a very small amount in real terms, but too much in terms of my online role. I based it on the guaranteed return together with the involvement of other known investors.

At the end of the day another lesson learned I guess.
