I got mine today, and after trying some I am going to give a 6 out 10.

Good cuts of meat both size and thickness. Very tender and not over dried. The taste was good but left me wondering what type of teri sauce was used. Also think you need more seasoning(touch of pepper). On the right track though very tasty jerky, just think you could toy with the ingredients to get the perfect combo. Also left with a very strong after taste and think if you sweetin(maybe a touch of bbq?)it up a bit it may diminish the after taste. Like I said it is a good start doubt main stream jerky seller hit a home run on first mass run. I hope to get the other bag to buddy this weekend. If I share what I have will let you know what response I get as well. Let me know on next flavor batch I am always down to sample Jerky!

Agree with all this. Solid early effort and definitely won't have any issues finishing the bag. Texture's pretty good, not too dry. flavor could be better. The teriaki might be a little too close to authentic if anything with a chinese food aftertaste. Soy sauce taste is very strong and pepper is weak. A little heat might help.

I'd suggest and would be interested in a straightforward pepper jerky. Harder to evaluate teriaki, in fact some people might like this a lot the way it is. A good standard type anyone will eat and be able to give constructive criticism.

But on the whole it's pretty good. The jerky itself was fine so it's just dialing in some flavor really.

Ty for the reviews so far. It is a soy sauce base and due to timing it stayed in the fridge overnight which is not typical for me so I'm not entirely surprised that the flavor is strong. I also only got to try two pieces myself so I didn't have a chance to taste my own work. Gonso to your point I do think this flavor could benefit from some red pepper flakes. Most people will be happy with some salty and some sweet. Heat is a tricky one especially for a first batch because it's the hardest to predict to please the masses.

I will have to work on a pepper "formula", and will post here with updates. I'm also excited for more reviews. I got one in PM that I need to ask if I can post.

Finished the bag still feel the same. A longer marinade might explain the heavier soy sauce flavor although you'd still be on the bland side. I would say it's the Joe Flacco of beef jerky.

Just tried some (haven't finished it yet obv) but below is my initial review.

Cut: 8/10

Texture: 8/10

Flavor: 7/10

Really like the cut of the jerky as I'm a big fan of thin cuts when buying jerky. Not overly thin, but I dislike big hunks of beef jerky as I feel it becomes more of meal/mouthful persay over the snack aspect I feel jerky is suppose to serve.

The texture is good imo. I like my jerky moist, but not too moist and don't care for jerky that's overly dry and crumbles apart. The cut is thin, but good enough to get an easy pull on the jerky without ripping out a tooth or having it splice everywhere.

The flavor is good, but will agree the soy sauce/base element is a little overpowering. I'm a big fan of soy sauce as I salt a lot of things in general, but even I could do with less here. Props on the sesame, I've never had jerky with it before so I wasn't sure what to expect at first.

Would def be in for future batches/flavors, good work JL.

So i just received mine and opened it up and was very hesitant since it was just in a zip lock bag and not a cool vacuum sealed resealable pouch...but to my surprise it was a delicious texture. A little chewy yet tender at the same time, quite amazing actually. I will be honest when i sent the money then realized it was for teriyaki i almost said dont send me wait till next flavor but decided to go with it anyways. The flavor definitely is overwhelming to me but someone who loves teriyaki may say its not enough! It tastes like im dipping delicious tender meat into my soy sauce cup at the sushi joint down the street from my store...yet as i type this review i have my left hand in the back and typing with my right so take that for what its worth

One of my all time favorite flavors is 'Sweet and Hot' http://www.americangourmetjerky.com/jerky.html as seen here top right...maybe order and get a taste for it and see if you can make a comparable one but only better.

Clearly you are heading in the right direction full steam ahead and am anticipating the next batch and flavor (maybe give people who ordered already first dibs on new list or just automatically renew me until i cancel my subscription lolol)

Key is consistency...perhaps if you knew you left this in too long you should have redone it to make it right or done it the way you meant to do it...since you said you left it in overnight and didn't mean to, just a suggestion.

Either way im in for next batch for sure, love the fact you are doing this, very cool and look forward to it! Now for a little shout out for my company and showing your product off at the same time dont forget to like us on facebook!

I really appreciate the time you guys put in giving thorough reviews and the speed with which you did that. If I can get around to it I will try to make some more jerky this weekend, I have a couple of other things I want to try and it sounds like I have a lot of people interested.

To this specifically I had no reason to believe the jerky wouldn't turn out well and I did try some myself before packing it up. I thought it came out pretty good, but I admittedly like the flavor and am used to it. Typically I marinade for 4-6 hours, but I just didn't have the time last weekend and had to split the process into two days.

Mine came in the mail yesterday. I enjoyed what I ate so far. I just feel like it is lacking some kind of punch. Not really sure how to explain it. I have a roommate who is a beef jerky freak so will have him try it and let you know what he says.

dunno how i missed this the first time around (well, i do. i'm never in the marketplace) but i'd definitely want to order some too whenever you get around to making more.

there used to be a guy that came around our hangout bar with jerky. he did pretty good business and had delicious jerky, would love to find some more homemade stuff.

Had my roommate try some over the weekend and he enjoyed it also. But agreed with my noobish assessment of it just lacking some kind of kick. But with that said I am always down to enjoy some more if you make another batch

Wow def reserve me some. I'm a chef , and I'm actually getting kind of excited right now reading the reviews. I think it would be cool and fun to review your jerky as a lover of jerky for many Many years.
