I'm looking to buy a bigger better monitor myself and the 23" looks good to me. From reading previous threads about monitors here on 2+2 I was under the impression that widescreen monitors weren't as good as regular monitors when it comes to poker and multitabling. Please help me with my limited understanding.
I would imagine the only real difference is the in the vertical resolution number in this case it would be 1080. If I remember correctly it was always 1200 that everyone said would be best.

So why is everyone so excited about this model. Is the 1080 enough? I normally play about 4-8 tables. Rarely more.

These are a new breed of monitors that are focusing on the ability to be full HD, so only require 1080. It would be fine for multi tabling I think with a tiny bit of overlap, but a x1200 is definitely the best for poker. However, a solid x1200 monitor is very expensive -- This is the monitor I have and love (link), but notice the price tag.

For a lot of people, they will deal with slight overlap (top and bottom, not side to side) for $150, or they'll just buy two or three and have a ton of screen real estate
