These will be seen as "outdated" in like 2 weeks when the new Macs arrive.

Well althought it is true that there will always be new versions coming out, this one is going to be outdated really fast. It is like paying almost full price for a ps2 when you know the ps3 will be coming out in 3 weeks at the same price. Anyway, good luck with your sale.

Calm down. Not trolling at all. Some people may not know that the new versions are coming out and will regret it if they find out later. Just helping you out; you don't want a disgruntled person out there if you want to make trades or sell more things in the future ;p

Pretty disrespectful to be jumping into people's threads trying to convince people not to buy their item. It is the potential buyer's responsibility to look whether there are new versions coming out soon or not and to make the decision themselves.

When you are dealing with a community (something that I hope 2+2 is) then no seller should be angle-shooting. Full-disclosure is expected. I assumed OP didn't know that the next gen was coming out next week so I helped him. If he was concealing that fact (I don't really think OP was doing that), then he should banned from the Marketplace. We have to deal with enough BS in the real world; I hope that poker players who make a lot of money sitting in their underwear won't try to be shady to make a couple of extra dollars.

this is pretty ****ing stupid.

should i go into every thread selling dvds and be like "you know, you could get it on half.com for cheaper" or "that movie sucks"

the burden is on the person who is willing to pay $1800 to do a simple ****ing google search if he cares that much.

Its funny because your exact hypo has come up in the past with respects to someone selling DVDs. A mod changed the thread title to something like "Selling: Overpriced DVD, blah, blah." It was actually an oversight by the seller, but people caught it. Opinion to the quality of the product is subjective, but stuff like price and outdated models are objective.

I have sold a few items in the marketplace and I would be happy if someone let it be known that my price was bad. It could save a lot of time and give me the true value of what I am selling.

Steel is pretty much right on both of his points. The way we should be viewing the marketplace imo, is basically a forum of "friends" selling things they no longer need to other "friends" for a profit. If, you wanted to sell things and let the buyer research whether what they are buying is worth it to them or not, there is always Ebay and Craigslist. Once we start "suckering" people into buying things, is when The Marketplace loses its value.

I disagree 100%. Letting someone know you can find the same product CHEAPER somewhere else is one thing. Letting them know that a new version could or could not be coming soon is another, as it completely kills any probable chance of it selling since people will just wait and see what comes out and at what price.

He let people know what he's selling, what it includes, and gave the price. Period. If he's not selling it at an unfair price, then I don't see the problem. No need to come in here saying "OR YOU CAN JUST WAIT A FEW WEEKS GUYS DONT BUY THIS" which is in essence what your posts are doing. The consumer has to do his research before spending $2k on something, and if not, that's his problem. No need to patrol every thread and make sure whatever is being sold is the newest version.

However, by telling OP that a new version is coming out, they are actually helping him. For example, he received an offer for $1800 he can either choose to accept it or hold out for more $. Once the new version comes out, he most likely will not get $1800 for it anymore. Thus, by knowing that a new version is coming out in the next few weeks he will make a smarter decision and more $ for himself. So by disclosing that a new product is coming out, both buyer and seller have gained.

I guess that also makes sense. Now I don't disagree so much lol

I would completely agree with the trolling if the new macbooks were out already or even if there has been any official announcement. But right now all there are are guesses, or "rumors", that a new version may or may not be coming out in a couple weeks. If you were to walk into an apple store right now today, they would sell you this exact macbook for full retail price. Therefore, perpetuating this pure speculation of my macbook being outdated is completely trolling and is very inappropriate. And lol at the people saying the trolls are helping me, this is huge lol because I highly doubt that the person that originally gave me an offer will still be willing to take the deal after all the trolling.

Just curious, did you know of these "rumors" yourself before being informed of them by the various posters in this thread?
