Living in ATL now. Possibly down for a move to St Pete. Lived there with a gf back in the day. Would wanna live in downtown: nice bar scene, awesome food, bay is within walking distance, beach is less than 10min drive (maybe even 5min if i recall), cool music scene, USF st pete campus is close so young crowd is pretty good, Tampa is 20min drive, Clearwater during spring break for hard partying only 20min away, Dog Track has local tourneys (if you're a tourney donk), Tropicana Field within walking distance for Rays games, Casino in Tampa if you ever wanna play live...it's heaven pretty much. Loved it there.

ideally, i'd wanna live in a grind house with 3 or 4 other roommates. Party every few nights. Grind as much as possible. Living on the beach would be cool too, but not sure the price of beach house rent in st pete (i do know that downtown was much cheaper than what i had expected). I also noticed that there wasn't really a lot to do out by st pete beach, most of the exciting stuff was downtown.

Here's the lowdown. I have lived in St Pete since 1979.
Nightlife:
If your young, downtown St Pete is where you want to be, great bar scene, bands, festivals, art scene etc. Black light Friday night outdoor shuffleboard, is where all the hipster girls hang out.
Some of the best beaches in the country are just a few minutes away.
Pasadena and Ft Desoto just to name a few.
Clearwater and Shepherd's beach bar is a huge Sunday party.
Great energetic college crowd with Eckerd college and now USF St Pete campus with dorms located downtown.
Free Looper transit makes for easy pub crawls.
Bars now open until 3am
World famous Mons Venus strip club 17 mins away, open 18hrs a day, $20 cover but lap dancing considered a "full contact sport" ask any middle aged male in any airport where the best strip club in the country is and he'll say "the Mons" if he's ever been there, 90% even if he hasn't.

Live Poker:
Deby Lane poker room and dog track, ten minutes away.
Sarasota Dog track and poker room 25 minutes away
Hardrock Tampa 25 mins away.
Tampa Downs & poker room 25 mins away
East coast poker, Isle at Pompano, Hardrock Hollywood, Daytona Kennel club Etc all about 3hrs drive. WPT will play a stop in Hollywood in 2011.

Housing:
Rents in downtown condos are cheap as hell as downtown is overbuilt.
Be sure to get Bright house cable service as they have the fastest Internet connection.
City is bike and pedestrian friendly but a car is important none the less.
Cost of living is general very reasonable.

Not much beach in Orlando, and Tampa beaches arent great. Check out Deerfield Beach or Hollywood, they are the cheapest and closest to the best casinos in S. FLA. I live down here, would maybe be interested in a few months. Ill check back in this thread if anything.

Ok well I live in Central FL, Been here pretty much all my life. I have lived in Orlando and the burbs. Currently I live in Sanford "not the ghetto part" The beach is about 30-45 min away from central fl, Not a far drive at all.

Let me know if you have any questions. My girl and I are thinking about moving soon and I wouldn't mind a roommate that is interested in poker also.

I'm being offered a full-time entry-level position in Panama City, FL. If anyone knows anything about the area or is interested in finding an apartment/house near the beach, reply to this post or ship a PM. FWIW, I'm 26, just graduated college in May and play 50NL FR/6max. While I will be working a full-time job, I will also be grinding a ton in my spare time.

I may be interested this summer. My sister, bro-in-law, niece and nephew live in the area, so VA Beach is one place I have considered moving to. I plan on living in a poker house for a year or two so I have the time and motivation to make heaps.

found 2 places that are about 500 a month before utilities (2 br places)
also saw a cool 4br place if you both can spontaneously make a move.
im just wondering wtf arent i living 4 blocks from the beach for hella cheap?

there are so many on craigslist.
there were more a few months ago when i was looking, but still a good amount.
400-550 a month per person for the most part, all within 7 blocks of the beach.
i wont live bayside or chix beach.

So apparently nobody wants to live near one of the spring break capitals' of the world for <$400 / month and Virginia is the place to be. GL with your adventures.

Wow...if you guys are getting aplace in St. Pete PM me. I live here now and am probably moving back up north now that I am done with school and figuring out whatI want to do next up there but if there is a poker house/condo/apartment with a room open I wouldn't mind staying down here. Also...I would need to know soon because my rent is up at the end of this month....

And I know first hand. I dated a girl for 5 years whose family has lived there their whole lives. We went to visit often, it's fun for about 2 weeks tops. After 2 weeks you don't want anything more than to get the f**k outta there.
