Should have just looked at that instead of measuring the screen. I can see why the guy wants a discount because the size of the screen is really important for multi tabling as an online poker player.

Op you definitely need to go out of your way to make the buyer happy. It was your fault that you didn't double check your post or the size of your monitor. He has been nothing but patient, from what I've read, with you and no one is going to blame him for posting the issue on the MP for others to read about.

There should be no issue with you offering him a refund for the computer if you are SO CERTAIN that you can sell it for that price. It is your own fault that you spent the money or did whatever you did with the money before making sure the buyer was absolutely satisfied with the item...

What would you do if you walked into the apple store to buy that charger... get home and find out its the wrong size, so you go back to the store and the sales person tells you "sorry we don't have all your money... we have 1/2 of it if you want to return it for that and we don't have the right size"

I'll tell you what you would probably do. You would most likely throw a fit in that store demanding a full refund because it is not the item you thought you were purchasing even though the box said it was the correct item.

Do the right thing and refund the man his money. He is being more then generous by asking for only a partial refund...


@purchaser... It's been my experience that if you just ship the item back to him and he does not ship a refund you can contact the law enforcement in his area. Any time you are dealing with items purchased and shipped it becomes a case of mail fraud which is a federal offense. I've dealt with a situation very similar to this and it's amazing how quick the money shows up once detectives are knocking on their doors asking questions. Not saying this is the best action to take but if it comes down to it you do have options.

OP, you're lucky you're dealing with Ben and not me. Ben is being super reasonable with you offering you a way out. If Ben wants it it's pretty clear he should be able to send the laptop back and you'd owe him everything he paid you along with any shipping he spent and money he paid his roomate to bring it down because you shipped it a week later when you promised within 48 hours. I understand that you don't have that much money, but that's your problem. Maybe you should stop selling things you don't have and then spending the money from it before the sale's been completed. Also it's not about measuring the screen it's pretty easy to just look up what you bought (and if Ben should've looked up the serial number why couldn't you just look that up to see screen size?)
