Yeah I can do that for you, you wanna meet up tomorrow? I'm gonna be checking a friend in at Bally's in the afternoon and then probably be heading out there. Do you still have my number or do you want me to call you?

If anyone else wants me to pick tickets up for them while i'm out there PM me.

I remember hearing a story from some lady who won the lottery. She wanted to give her boyfriend half of the winnings, but her accountant explained that if she did the tax implications would be horrible compared to if she just kept it all herself. So they got married and ldo shared it all.

Not sure how this would play between a pool of ticket buyers.

It's illegal to bet across state lines or something, right? I wonder if that applies in this scenario. I mean I'm sure a bunch of people do this type of this (pool monies and have one person drive to get them) but if you bink this you better check it out first because obviously winning that much money can become a story, and well you never know who might mention some dudes on the internet pooled money, etc. etc.

Don't look in to things so deeply. I'm going to buy the tickets, me and the others are all partners in the tickets, there is nothing illegal going on.

It's also apparently illegal to play online poker.

you should post the #'s 10 minutes before drawing. Would probably be the first time people sweat lottery numbers on the forum! I'll be loading up on the mega too, good luck all of us. Although I think we got a better shot at catching our period

Are you the 2+2 police?

I'm sold out of shares. I hope it stays open so I can post our winning numbers here before the drawing instead of having to email everyone the pics of our numbers/tickets

You might want to check.

According to the powerball website it's, "illegal to sell lottery tickets over the internet."

linky

Maybe this is somehow different since it's a pool, but you're basically selling lottery tickets online depending on how you look at it, so you might want to do a little more research.

Exactly, I'd like to see the numbers posted too, as does the OP from the other thread.

Having your thread open and his closed makes no sense.

Do you think its fair yours is open and his is closed? Didn't mean to poop on your thread btw. Just want the mods to explain why.

Just give us a little bit of time here. I closed the other thread before we had a full discussion, which I wanted to do before commenting, because shares were still being sold. No further sales will be happening ITT, so there's not the same urgency to close it.

I'm in the middle of a few things ATM, but I promise to come back with a full explanation later this evening/morning. I'll just briefly say that if you give it some serious thought for a few minutes, you really should be able to come up with a few good reasons why 2+2 might not be too excited about threads like this one, and I foresee an addition to the rules covering it.

No I don't, but that's how things usually go on 2+2.
For example, other rookie posters with limited transaction history can make countless threads selling hotel rooms in the general marketplace and they stay open, but since I've sold a bunch of rooms successfully here and never had an issue, everytime I make a thread selling a room it gets closed cause the powers that be want me to pay for a commercial marketplace ad.

Is it right that theirs stay open and mine gets closed, no, does it happen, yes all the time.

I guess that's how it goes on here.

Sorry to Hijack this thread but I guess I don't have another place to post...

Hopefully there will be a decision or somethign made soon. I just didnt want people to worry, if the powers that be decide this is a no go i will refund the second im in front of a computer. I dont think it was necessary to close my thread u could have just made a post or sent me a message, It's kind of crappy to lock my thread without telling me anything and scare all the people whos money i am holding. I even sent a pm that was unanswered trying to figure out what was going on. I just happened to find some discussion going on in this thread.

that being said I dont see why this is a problem. I am not selling lottery tickets im just selling off action on my own purchase, much like poker players do here every day. I find it funny that in 10 minutes on this site I can book a 1k bet on the Lakers Game, sell shares to the wsop me, and make a prop bet on some kid staying in a hotel room for a year, but lottery ticket action is off limits?

Like I said I will respect whatever decision is made, but I believe this is just harmless degen fun like alot of things in the marketplace.

Chris

Meh, had a whole sarcastic reply typed out to this, but I'm removing it.

As you know, this is a huge misconstrument of what happened, but I'm not going to hash it out in the forums with you. You never replied to my last PM about this so I assume you're not interested, and I'd appreciate you leaving the snide comments about it off the forums, especially when they're going to be so inaccurate.

no because i am the ower of the ticket, what i decide to do with my own money afterwards is my business. No one that bought shares own any lottery tickets, they hold action that i sold to them just like poker players selling a bap. I do not believe there is any grey area to this at all.
