ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

A new poster responds to a random emailer who used a mimic account by putting apostrophes around a regular's name.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

If you do a net spend cardholder transfer to a scanner, the funds may be recoverable even if the scanner spends them. I was able to get mine back, by calling net spend and explaining that I sent the money to.an incorrect person. They will look into.your account, if you are in good standing with net spend with no history of conflicts at all, they will credit your account back. Depends on the amount though

They will lock your cardholder transfers until the risk department speaks to you though. Then they will unlock it again, but its still better to not deal in emails, as I learned. I didn't think a scanner would waste time with 20.00. But apparently, they do. Be warned.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

About a week ago when I first started trying to get Lock funds I was contacted by by two people via email one claiming to be Plainestman and the other Spring83. If you simply ask these people to verify who they are by sending you a PM or posting in their "own" thread they will be unable to do so.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

A new sign up posted 3 times in this forum, neglected the sticky warnings, neglected the sn rules and then chose not to deal with the Approved thread starters.

Unfortuately he sent $60 GDMP to a 2 day old account that quickly emailed him.

That was at 2:40 eastern time so about 2.5 hours ago and no reply back from him. I have his name and location. I may be contacting the police in his town very shortly

The chances that the rl info he has is real are zero.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

2 new mimic accounts reported
"PowerhausaAA"
"PowerhausAA"

These are in no way related to the trusted 2+2er who has no "s.

The 2+2 er who was scammed for $80 received an email that had the lines:

This is a message from "PowerhausAA" at Two Plus Two Poker Forums ( https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/ ). The Two Plus Two Poker Forums owners cannot accept any responsibility for the contents of the email.

To email "PowerhausAA", you can use this online form:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/se...ember&u=343138

Other scammers have used other puncuation marks such as periods, commas or *s to alter and mimic real accounts.

Most victims don't read these warnings.
Some don't even know what a sticky is.

Those of you with threads could add a warning in your next OP such as THIS .

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

I may have done something very stupid. I posted in other thread looking to sell Lock funds, which I have never done before. csither2 emailed me and we emailed and aim'ed back and forth to set up a transfer to him, in return for a Western Union payment to me. After a few excuses to why he had not WU'ed me, he hasnt returned my emails. I notified Lock support. I feel awful about this and do not know what to do. The person's email is csither199@aol.com

He said his name was Carl Smith from Syracuse, NY. His AIM is csith199.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

that was foolish

When a new account with 0 posts
emails you and you send him money there is no other possibility.

It was likely this loser posting from a new location, same neighbourhood (York, PA)

Did you find out his Lock screen name or notify Lock security?

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

On July 23 2+2 admins permanently disabled the forum server-based email system.

These were the email links in the profiles and dropdowns for those who chose to allow them.

The email format was upgraded a few months back with link-backs to the sender's 2+2 profile page.

Recently, serial scammers had found a way to copy, paste and edit emails making them appear to be from respected posters but having the scammer's email address inserted.
No one was scammed as far as we know but the situation was very dangerous and 2+2 felt responsible to protect those who use these forums.

Thus, new accounts will have no email or PM function.
PMs are enabled after waiting a few days after making their first few posts.
There is no way of speeding that up.

The Marketplace Approved thread starters in this sub-forum can post their own email, AIM or Skype at there own choosing.

For their own protection new posters will have their contact info deleted if they post it.

Re: ANOTHER E-MAIL SCAM - only send unwanted money to emailers

I hope these guy learned to be more cautious when doing any kind of trade. i'm not saying it's something you can fully avoid but i have never been scammed on the net and i buy and sell things all the time. If it's too good to be true, the person is sounding fishy just don't do it and always pay attention to detail.
