Post a traceroute:

On a windows computer strike <WinKey>+R, type in 'cmd' in the run box without quotes (or alternatively, open the start menu, and select 'Run...')

In the command prompt, type 'tracert forumserver.twoplustwo.com' (again without the quotes). And look for particularly laggy connections (any connection taking more than 200ms is particuarly laggy).

Post results itt.

Here is an example:

You can see, it takes me 17 hops to connect to the forums, which is not an abnormal amount. Traceroute tries each hop (connection handoff) 3 times so you can see if a specific hop is varying wildly. That is why there are 3 columns of response times. In my case, I have no hops over 200ms, and they are not very different from each other over 3 trials.

Sometimes I do this and it clears up my connections (use at own risk, but 99% sure it is fine)

Start>run>cmd.exe

Type in these commands:

/ipconfig release
/ipconfig flushdns
/ipconfig registerdns
/ipconfig renew

Again, not 100% sure what these commands do exactly, but it seems to work for me sometimes.

Also try resetting your router/modem, unplug every cable from them, leave for 2 mins then replug in.

Also it never harms to run a full virus scan, as well as a ccleaner scan (search google for ccleaner and download and run it, great prog)

Also try going to:

Internet Explorer - Tools - Options - Advanced - Reset Internet Explorer Settings

This can have an effect on your connection, as these settings are sometimes attacked by viruses/malware so it's worth trying it.
