Been meaning to start blogging for a while, looked at a host of formats but meh, couldn't find **** that worked for me, so may aswell put it in here as I guess it's the site I should be reading the most and hopefully can inspire some of the micro generation aswell, if I stick to it. I need to get myself back into the poker mindset I used to be in, when I used to grind hard. I did a 24hr lockdown about a month ago and did 10k hands in the day, but since then have played very little, hopefully I'll get some time off work soon so I can get another of these sessions in, was quite fun iirc. My monthly volume since I started a new job about 6 months ago has really dropped, been something like; 13k, 18k, 10k, 28k & 17k, plus only 4k this month, but I've worked a lot and mainly been playing Heads Up, although I still missed the first week of the month I think.

The goal? Turn ~$1.3k into a SSNL roll. I'm a bit of a rollnit these days after going on a 20BI swing at 50NL, so decided that 40BI per level would be much better than 20BI, especially when my next step is back up to the level I was previously crushed at. I'll probably be using this as more of a diary I guess, maybe sharing some hands and graphs, and whatever else is going on, hopefully not too many negative moments. I will be grinding 25NL 6max and some 50NL Heads Up from the start, and currently have a video subscription @ DeucesCracked. Hopefully I'll break my live hymen soon aswell, any TR will go inside also, plus I live in London so I have a semi-decent choice to go, if I ever can be assed to hop on a train.

At the moment, my biggest leaks that I'm aware of are probably thinking people are bluffing too much, and therefore making silly calldowns, or thinking they're bluffing me, but not having a plan for the turn or river, then getting there and wondering wtf I do next. I also think too much about ranges, get to a hand I beat that takes the taken line, and snap call, disregarding the whole host of hands which take the exact same line which crushes me, I need to learn to take my time in hands and analyze them better.

Also something I may add into my blog later is p90x. Not sure how many of you will have heard of it, but basically it's a 90 day fitness program. I'm going to Tenerife in August for my 20th birthday, and obviously I wanna look in semi-decent shape. I'm faaar from fat or out of shape, but it'd be nice to feel and look good, plus I've been meaning to start working out for a while, just no motivation.

Yes, I'll also add a thread/post saver after every entry.

So my grind since the start of this little 'adventure' hasn't gone too great, I haven't played a load mainly because of long shifts at work, but I've put in a decent amount of hands considering the time I've had, but had no luck. I'm not a huge believer in EV seeing as it doesn't really account for the times you run KK into AA, or get top set in vs. the flopped nuts, but still, I'm running terrible, EV wise and cooler wise, but I'm not here to bitch. Or am I. For God's sake let me win a pot one time! Plzthxbai.

Don't wanna clog the post up with converted HH's so I'll just leave the uploaded ones instead, and then you can decide whether you can be arsed reading them or not.

http://weaktight.com/2339659 - Hate my raise size, should make it $8.50 so I can shove every turn.
http://weaktight.com/2339666 - 95.5% sure I'm gonna win this h ... oops.
http://weaktight.com/2339669 - Standard QQ vs. AA aip, was my first hand on the table though, hmm.
http://weaktight.com/2339672 - 4bet shove is kinda meh, but he was a big enough fish that he was gonna call with AJs.
http://weaktight.com/2339677 - AKo vs. AA, meh once again.
http://weaktight.com/2339680 - Oh look, cheryltweedy runs into the top of someone's range again.
http://weaktight.com/2339682 - Heeeey, he stole ma outz!

Shiz happens, right. I got Friday off work, so probably gonna put in a decent session on Thursday night and Friday morning, depending on how Season 2 of The Sopranos starts. How fk'in sick is this show! Ma' boy Kumar been raving at me to watch it for a while (the same as me raving at him to watch Fringe!), so I started and after a twitchy start which I still enjoyed, it got sick good in the middle, but the season 1 finalé was kinda meh, I'd have liked to have seen some bodies hit the floor, but there we go. Lost tonight also, having to wait up 'til 3am for this, but it's gonna be worth it, gogogo John Locke!

Back to Poker briefly, I've downloaded Grindcore's latest 'Thin Red Line' episode, and am going to get on watching the series from the start at some point in the near future, so that's one of my goals before the end of May, put in moar hands, and watch more videos notably Grindcore and KRANTZ/ fenderjaguar.

I don't know who the girl is unfortunately.

Some news, I recently had some problems with my laptop, so backup up my hard drive, formatted my drive and reinstalled Windows 7, only to find, the CD no longer works, so I'm left without a laptop at home, just an old PC, which I won't be bringing out the wardrobe . So I probably won't be playing for the next few days while I sort my laptop out and set it up to how it was.

Hopefully I'll have an update next week sometime, hopefully for the start of June.

Slow start to June

Apoloagies, I've yet to reinstall Photoshop back on my laptop, so no fancy graphic! But yeah the title says it all, I've been working a lot in the last few months, I have a holiday to Tenerife booked with friends so am aiming on padding my alcohol roll, but the downside being, not much play time, and when I have played, it hasn't gone too well if I'm honest. Only 2k hands this month but down 4BI, EV says I should be down like 7, so I'm pushing my luck apparently. I've played ok, I think a few hands I butchered and misplayed, and I think I've made a couple of bad calls, but I have yet to hit a set this month, and I've taken a few coolers (also people seem to like flopping flushes against me).

The biggest problem has been tilt. I haven't tilted off much (if anything), but my emotions at the table lead me to quitting or not playing when I should be, and I've got 'angry' in a few spots where I shouldn't let it affect me. The mental side of the game is definitely something I need to work on, I have the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment series on my HD and I've seen episode one, but I think I should make it my aim to try and get through the series this month, or atleast read up a lot more about the psychological side of the game. I guess I've post a couple of hands, do you guys fold these?

Minraise on monotone flops are always tehnutz ldo. Also, I don't even have a winning hand to post this month, nothing above 80bb's anyway, and even that was just getting AK in pre vs. AQ and holding up. So yeah, not a whole lot going on at the moment, my volume since I started this thread has been slack, something I want to work on in the next few days. I've written a schedule of the MSOP events I want to play though, so hopefully I can go deep in 1 or 2 of these at some point.

#13 - 5/6 @ 20:20 - $10+$1
#16 - 6/6 @ 20:20 - $15+$1.50

#36 - 19/6 @ 20:20 - $10+$1
#39 - 21/6 @ 20:20 - $15+$1.50

I'm going to Glastonbury festival later in June too, so I won't be able to play anymore until I get back, and seeing as I only play NLHE, it'll likely be the Main Event if I do decide to play in it, $100+$10, I'll see how I feel and how the rest of this month goes results and volume wise, baring in mind I've only put in 6.8k hands since the start of this blog, I probably won't be playing it.

Really excited about the World Cup starting next Friday! Uruguay vs. France should be interesting on the Friday, and then England are playing on the Saturday, so now doubt I'll be off somewhere watching that after work, I've forgotten what the atmosphere of a mjor tournament is like, and this will be my first one when I can legally drink, so there should be a fair few days where I'm down the pub all day watching every game on my day off! Really gutted Theo Walcott didn't make the squad, I mean his form before February/March was shoddy, but he put in a decent shift for us after than, but I heard his form in training for England was more than awful, so what can you do. Losing Rio Ferdinand is a blow. I rate Ledley King really highly, but he can't train ... so the World Cup really isn't going to suit him. I can see him playing against USA on Saturday, maybe Algeria but probably won't play against Slovenia, it'd be too much. Anyways I'm playing in Event #13 at the moment, I'll let you all know how I get on, currently sitting 1039/5558.

Event #13 didn't go so well for me, I doubled up early on with KK, I bet 3 streets and puked when villain shoved the river, but meh. I then proceeded to bluff off a little by 3barreling, but then suceeded a few hands later. Not a lot happened, until I got it in with 99 against a habitual blind restealer, who had J8, and lost. Then I flopped top pair a few hands later and villain shoved, I kinda tanked but kinda thought meh, I figured I'd get shown KQ or AQ. In the end I finished 4219/7608.

I had a little break and played some cash, which went well actually. There weren't many interesting hands which came up to be honest, so I'llo just leave my graph in here because I'm missing Entourage too much (A).

I smell a heater!

Ship ship, playing pretty solidly in the last few days, I feel like I'm playing the best I've played in quite a while, but then it's easy to say that when you're flopping sets I guess (A). I've been watching a lot of FenderJaguar and Krantz videos in the last few weeks, and have really upped my aggression both pre-flop and post-flop. I think my 3betting was a big leak, I was either 3betting the wrong sort of hands, 3betting for the wrong reasons, or not 3betting enough, a combination of the 3 made it a big leak imo. I'm still yet to watch benjaminbarker and skraper's 3bet video on srooney3's play, both parts, and I plan to within the next week, so hopefully that can help me a bit more when I get 3bet, as I'm still pretty raw in that area. Here's my graph for the heater, 6 tabling;

I've also been watching BalugaWhale's 'Coaching Kristy' series on DC, probably my favourite coach out there at the moment. Not only does he explain what we should be doing, he explains why we should be doing it, and why we shouldn't be doing what we're currently doing, pretty sick coach. I remember watching some videos of him as a 5NL grinder, and he gave me the "aha moments" to push me to crushing this and 10NL, and onto 25NL, and while I wouldn't say he's got me crushing 25NL, he definitely has improved my fundamental game of Poker to help me, sick coach. If you're reading, get more videos out please!

Also just busted in Event #16 of the MSOP, cashed which was fine, but was never really able to get going if I'm honest. I had a really aggro table, and although I was running 39/37 and 30% 3bet, I had a lot of shorties ahead of me so could only really focus on the regs behind me, I busted ~486/4595, with the last hand being me 3betting AKs vs. a CO reg. If I'm being results oriented, I'd say maybe I should have just shoved pre-flop, but I was left with a PSB bet left on the flop, J94r, so I shoved and he called with 98s. I guess 3betting half my stack pre was fine as it kept in TONS of hands I crush going into the flop than he's gonna have to fold, so I guess it was fine. My next event will be #22 on Friday night.

More news, I've moved a little of my roll over to iPoker. I got a 45% rakeback deal and $600 deposit bonus, so I've moved some over there and left some on FT, so I'll be grinding on iPoker from now on. Sick deal, I hope to put in a ton of hands in the next couple of months to take advantage of both the bonus and the rakeback, aswell as the alledged 'softer fields'. I'll let you know when my FT withdrawl goes through and I'm grinding the Euro sites.

And I'm gonna go get my grind on for a couple of hours before I go sleep!

(Move the fk'in camera out the way, imo)

That's a sick deal, though I believe it's from some underground affiliate?

Thanks for the advice in my thread, but I think FTP's table action is better compared to the supposedly nitty iPoker tables. I've watched BalugaWhale's Coaching Kristy series as well, the way he explains things is top-notch and definitely hope he makes more videos soon. Another series which I recommend is Yin and Yang by Inavacuum, after watching that I feel that my game has changed quite a bit.

iPoker and first thoughts

So as touched upon an entry or two ago, I got a nice deal at iPoker and decided to move some of my roll over there, atleast until I'm grinding 50NL where I guess I'll eventually move my entire roll over. I deposited a little over $600 yesterday, with a code for the deposit bonus obviously, but it didn't tag. So I got in touch with support, who took a whole 10 minutes to confirm that the code was actually valid. Then when they confirmed it was, they took another 10 minutes to tag it to my account, before announcing I have a $515.34 bonus to clean. Obviously I said I deposited £420, which is just over $600, so I should have the maximum bonus available, $600.. They quickly replied with "sorry, there was an error with the currency converter.", and bumped it up to $600. So right off the bat, we know their support is a load of wank, pretty much.

As for the software, on my goodness what an abortion. The sounds are hideous, but nesecary because the tables don't pop above currently open windows, which I guess is kind of good because it'll prevent me browsing when I should be concentrating. The layout itself is a joke, everything is just so small and requires detail to attention to figure who's in the hand, in what position and how much money they have behind, which brings me to my next point; fish. There seems to be a decent amount of weak players, I'm currently playing £20NL, mainly because it'll probably just as soft as $20NL, but the monetry value will be a lot higher. But the thing is, they all buy in with like 25bb's, which is kinda ghey. I really am not enjoying my first impressions of the site, the grind isn't enjoyable because it just isn't decent to look at, the hands per hour are really slow aswell because of the POS software, the constant delay between streets, and the time it takes to switch from player to player.

Obviously I'll stick it out because I got a pretty sweet deal, I've got a bonus to clean and it allows me to play more in the day time with a decent volume of players, but I'm really hoping I get used to the software in some sort of way, because it's unbareable at the minute, almost to the point where I don't wanna play because the software tilts me that much.

I dropped 1.5BI last night, and played tonight and made it all back, so after 1k hands I'm breaking even. I'll probably play quite a but tomorrow in the day, and will report back on my feelings of the site after 10k hands, where I guess I'll have a decent sample of the player pool and how bad it is, aswell as whether or not the site is actually bareable to grind day in, day out.

World Cup starts in like 16 hours, and I can't wait! Can't wait to watch Carlos Vela steamroll South Africa tomorrow.

Small Update

A little brief, I haven't played whole lot this month, but it's going alright anyways. I hardly play on iPoker because the software is so gay, I just can't get used to it, and the lack of timebanks are ridiculous. Mainly been playing on FT and the results have been good, I've been playing shorter sessions, and concentrating a lot more, but good results help a lot too. I don't really get to play on weekends as I'm always out, but I'm trying to keep Saturday free and might actually try and play a decent session then, we'll see. Here's my graph for July so far.

I'm running over EV aswell, but I'm down about 16BI's in EV @ 25NL anyways, so I guess it'll even out at some stage. Obligatory free boobies below.

12/07/2010 Sessions

From now on I will be posting daily (or maybe every couple of days depending if I play or not) updates of biggest winning hand, biggest losing hand (expect to see a lot of spew!), my graph for the session and my graph for the month.

Biggest Winning Hand

I think pre is fine, he had a reasonable 3bet % but it was predominately from the BB, so I felt like with blockers a 4bet would be fine, but when he flatted I was kinda prepared to not put anymore money in the pot, as I don't think he folds anything on this board, maybe AK. Took a shot on the turn, but when he lead out on the river and I paired, I kinda felt like he would never valuebet JJ or QQ here, and if he had TT he'd at least do something more on the turn. 8x isn't in his range either, so it's pretty much full of complete air, combined with the fact that ZOMG I HAS A PAIR, I called.

Full Tilt Poker $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

UTG: $25.13
MP: $14.59
CO: $26.05
Hero (BTN): $31.50
SB: $34.66
BB: $38.01

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with A 6
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.75, 1 fold, BB raises to $2.50, Hero raises to $8, BB calls $5.50

Flop: ($16.10) 7 T 9 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($16.10) 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB calls $5

River: ($26.10) 6 (2 players)
BB bets $15, Hero requests TIME, Hero says "this is gross", Hero calls $15

Final Pot: $56.10
Hero shows A 6 (a pair of Sixes)
BB shows K Q (King Queen high)
Hero wins $53.30
(Rake: $2.80)

Biggest Losing Hand

This is complete spew, something which I always end sessions doing. Massive history between myself and villain, he'd been calling 2 streets and then raising rivers, or calling 2 streets and then potting rivers when I checked (I folded all 3 so no showdown). My call is kind of embarrassing, I felt like he wouldn't flat a 8x or 2x pre, nor would he play JJ or something the same way on every street, so felt like he had a lot of air and sometimes we'd be chopping. Haven't done the math, but I'm 95% sure it's burning money, something which I need to stop doing.

14/07/2010 Session

**** day, hardly won a pot of any note, biggest 3 pots were like $47, $17 and $12 or something stupid. I ran into the top of villains ranges a ton, I kept getting shoved on everytime I c/r, and I made some dodgy decisions aswell against fish.

Meh, there's always tomorrow.

FML! Work on Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur and Fri too, so maybe 5k hands will be played, maybe not. Time to watch the 'Eightfold Path to Enlightment' too on DC, although not much of that was tilt, more like running top full house into quads, KK > AA, and some straights vs. FD's, I feel as though I quit sessions earlier than I should, and play my C game way more than my A game.
