I have been browsing these forums for a few months now. Please follow my progress from the microstakes. I will update this blog regularly to show how I have progressed, what I have learned each day and possibly some interesting hands.
My current bankroll is $563. I play $25NL 6 max. I hope to use this blog to help me progress in poker.
I will be analyzing my sessions for further leaks, and seeing if the changes I've made have plugged up my leaks.
Changes I will make for future sessions:
3B more from the BB. Don't call in the BB.
Don't 3B the button too often. Especially against fish who call 3bets and don't fold to cbets.
Don't open too wide on the button. Especially against fish who don't fold to cbets.
Vary my button open sizes depending on who is in the blinds.
What BRM are you using? Are you on a shot at 25? $563 seems a little tight.
Hi, I read your thread and see you are using $625 as your start point for $25NL. This is similar to me. I moved up to $25NL when I hit $600. I will move down at $450. This gives me a 6 BI shot.

Bankroll is currently $600. Didn't play too much yesterday (only an hour) so not too much to add. Will put up some interesting hands from the weekend on Monday. I'll also be playing a live tournament, and possibly some live cash at the weekend so will update the thread with my progress.
I have been reading Hans the Greats thread and plan to read the rest of this and watch the videos this weekend.
I will also be analysing a few of my hands over the weekend using poker math that matters and will put up a couple of hands both in this thread and on the forum for feedback.
Tomorrow I will read a few posts on the small and micro NL forums to try and learn from them, and will try to offer my advice.
I will also be setting up more filters so I can see how I play in certain situations
Played a live tournament. Came 10th out of about 30. 4 got paid. Happy with most of how I played except the hand I went out on. Quite a turboey tournament.
I had 40 BB. Guy limped. I raised to 3 BB with KJ. Big stack called. Flop came J68. I Cbet. Big stack raised and I went all in. Big stack had 66. Bit silly of me. No one in the tournament was really raising post flop. Even with strong hands they were calling down. Weak by me.
Online roll is $630 Should have been more (I was up to $800 but played some $100NL trying to get AA promotion and lost a flip. I also played $100 or so worth of MTTs but got nowhere.
Current plan is stick to $25NL until my roll reaches $1250 and not play any tournaments until then.
Got a nice bonus at work today. Adding $600 to my account to play $50NL as I feel I can beat it. 4 1/2 BI attempt at $50NL before moving down.
New bankroll was $1230. Played an hour of poker and at $1234. Got unlucky losing 100bb 2P v set and AA<AQs so fairly happy with how I played. Bit annoying that a few of my interesting hands got missed in the hand histories.
No really interesting hands or spots to post. This was a nice gift
Will get a bit of a grind today. First day in a while.
Plan for today is 5 x 1 hour sessions at $50NL. Will post a decent update tomorrow with hand histories, interesting spots and stats since I started this challenge.
Fairly decent day yesterday. Was up to $1425 at one point. Then I let my concentration suffer and slipped down to $1250 ish again. Decided to play a few tournaments and did reasonably well. Twice I went all in on the flop with TPGK and got called by A high only for them to river an A. But I had my fair share of luck with underpairs beating overpairs twice in different tournaments.
I know this thread is a bit boring without hands to back it up but I've been updating at work and playing at home. Won't be allowed to play the next few days but will see if I can update this with recent hands.
Been watching a few videos too, particularly on blind play. Have noticed I've started calling from the big blind too much again and losing money. STOP!
Will need to update this blog more respectfully showing exactly what I've been doing and what I've been reading / watching. That is my aim for my next update!
I've not been keeping this up todate how I would like to. So here's my attempt at getting things on track. Lost a bit of my roll so was back to almost where I started.
Start of 1st session bankroll $1250
One mistake. Thought he could be making this play with AKs or such like. In reality no one really overbets bets all in without the nuts at this limit.
Nothing to report from my last session. Played a few 3B pots poorly. Was up two buy ins then lost 3 and now about level
End of session bankroll $1467
One possible mistake in this session. Although similar has happened to me in a few hands today and when I've raised they've folded so maybe overall it was a +EV move. No specific reads on the opponent (probably a fish given what he did).
Didn't play much yesterday as I was super rough after an all day drinking session on Saturday. Got a few hands to post where I think i made good call downs with some nice hand reading. Even if I do say so myself. Will get them up tonight after a review of my latest sessions.
Two sessions today. Going to keep this blog better updated now and really focus on 2015 setting and meeting targets. However I'll be in France for the next week or so, so wont have Pokerstars access. Will have a week to think about what I would like to achieve and how I will achieve this.
