As much as it sounds like a cop out from me, I've decided not to keep updating, as I think it gives away too much ev in HU. Troll me if you want, but that's honestly how I feel about it.

I already know mirage has a thing for me; lovehate with less of the latter, even if he won't admit it to himself!

Hey,

Around midway through June, so now seems like a good time to update.

June was the first month living on my own, and overall I'd like to think I'm doing just fine. The only problem I've been having is not being happy with the food I'm eating. Before moving to where I am now, I was living with my Nan, which was great as it meant we could care for each other. She is also an amazing cook (isn't everyone's Nan?), and with her being born in Calcutta during the 1940s, she was born into an age of making all your food from scratch, which meant no fast food, and no processed food. She even has claim to fame with it, as before she moved to England, she was a cook for the village, and would regularly be cooking for Mother Teresa herself. So as you can imagine, living with her meant that I was treated to fresh food every day, and it's only now that I can really appreciate that and realise how much it helped me. Since moving into my own place, I've been eating processed crap almost every night, and it's beginning to take a toll. I've got very basic cooking skills, but with a recipe and guide, I'm sure I could make some proper meals (nothing too extravagant, but still something that'll retain me some dignity and be healthy). So I am going to task myself to make two meals from scratch each week and go from there.

Anyway, things regarding Poker have been mixed. I think I'm playing really well, but volume is still a forever and ongoing issue. You do get a lot less hands per hour in HU due to the nature of the format, and I also took the first 3 days off of June to study and relax, however despite both of these, my volume could still be a lot better. I am going to set myself a mini goal of hitting 45k hands for the month, which'll task me to average ~2.3k hands per day every day until the end of the month. The next update will be at the end of the month confirming I did so .

Good to see an update Clanty. GL GL on the volume goal.

As for meals, it might not be a bad idea to consider bulk meal prep your food. You can now actually order meals online that are sent to you fresh and in tubberware then you just have to freeze and reheat when you need. But it's very straight forward to prep and bake a lot of chicken (baking chicken instead of pan frying it was a huge eye opener for me), and then just cook a lot of rice or pasta, add a sauce and some vegetables and you've got good tasting food that's healthy. Repetitive for sure but a small sacrifice. For years at uni I spent an hour or so every Sunday making 6 days worth of chicken, pasta, rice, homemade tomato sauce (very easy, just blitzed veggies in a blender, add powdered spices and chopped tinned tomatoes) and adding frozen vegetables and packing them all away in the freezer. You probably have the income to get someone else to do it for you but there is definitely a satisfaction in making your own meals and it doesn't eat into too much time once you've everything organised.

This is absolutely awesome advice, I am definitely going to try the bulk 6 meal prep, thanks a lot!

Ive cooked a lot in my life, since Im lazy, here are some decent suggestions to make good food without much work and healthy too.
Chicken chest is king, easy to prepare, so buy a,lot of it and store in the refrigerator in small portions(one for each meal), you can make it in a lot of different ways so you dont get annoyed by that:
you can make it woth gorgonzola cheese(dont know the translation), you can make it simple with garlic, theres also some good ways to prepare it with curry/onions, even mixing it with a lot of cheese can turn out to be fine. For carbs, crackers is king, making rice is very hard and the kitchen becomes a mess. ive even made some shrimps and ate with crackers, lol not as good as rice but decent and easy
Also learning how to cook sushi is good, you can make food for 2 days and store it. Its not that expensive to make it yourself, but theres a lot of learning in malong the sushi rice, expect the first 10 times tp be really bad lol. After some practice you will do fine.

Btw, on h1 dont you think the 3bet sizing OTF is too big? If there were a FD I could understand that, in that spot I raise to $100, he will have an easier time folding a lot of weak gutshot vs $120 too.

On h5 the 8x is really bad to jam on imo, he will mostly call you with 8x type of hands he played that way, better to jam when a smaller card pairs or a small blank comes. I love your super thin jams, thought I was the only one in town that made those plays vs stations lol.

Very sick hands, like AT, dont know how you called that lol. gl man!

h1 - yes prefer going smaller on flop, I'm actually pretty sure I used the wrong hotkey and was immediately annoyed about it, as it just looked too big. If there was a fd we'd be 3bing smaller on flop, not bigger, as ranges are a lot closer

h5 - checking 8x isn't rly a thing on flop for OOP in hunl. I'm expecting to see a fair amount of AA/KK and maybe some QQ, but 8x is almost always going to be cbet for a few different sizes on flop. the 8 is also a great bluffing card for IP otr, hence I chose to jam, which was confirmed in pio to be a pure jam

omelette is also a quick and healthy meal and you can eat it in any of the 3 major meals of the day. Do not forget to eat fruits and also go out in the sun once in a while cause we poker players have a gtd vitamin d deficiency.

Xeno could you give me some examples ref the beans, as I'm kind of lost with it. You are talking to a guy in his 20s who struggles with bacon sandwiches btw

Sweetpea's post is what I'm going to try this Sunday, as it seems very practical and realistic, to me at least.

Thanks so very much for the suggestions, much appreciated!

Going to see the new jurrasic film this afternoon, and then on the grind to meet my volume goals for the rest of the month. Next update will be then.

well I mean you can just buy these small bags of dry beans, black beans, red kidney beans etc. (black beans are the most nutritious apparently)

You just put a good chunk of it in cold water overnight, like 8-12 hours then you cook em in boiling water for about 90 minutes and there you go, you've got a good batch of beans that are easier to digest than canned ones and also a lot cheaper, plenty of protein, fiber and Iron.

it doesn't taste a whole lot though by itself but I personally make wraps with my beans, I buy whole wheat tortillas then I put the blackbeans with spinach, tomatoes, onions, olives, avocados and jalapeno, add a little bit of whatever spices you like, I also add mustard, tastes great, super cheap and it's packed with nutrients and fiber

so yeah bottom line is beans > chicken
