Didn't play much today, the heatwave here is meant to be over tomorrow which should mean more grinding. BR is sitting on around $1000 bucks, which is 40 buyin's for 25NLz.

Results by stake



I ran over EV at 16nlz but that doesn't bother me or excite me, last challenge I ran like 40BI under EV so I know how it can go. This month ( July ) I'll be playing 25NLz only if it goes well. I should be able to manage 100k hands easily as I only played the last 3 weeks of June. There's plenty of stuff I still need to sort out, like sleep schedule an so on but you gotta start somewhere. The hardest part is grinding a small amount like 50$ up to something decent.

Went the entire month without a drop of alcohol which is probably my best achievement. Imo it's impossible at least for me to maintain a clear mind and have the right mindset for poker even if it's only drinking on weekends. The first two weeks I made an effort to eat more/better but have kinda relaxed on that a bit. Onward to 25NLz.

Ran very badly today, played badly too, not a good start to 25NLz. Wasn't a complete waste of time since I was able to mine hands and get used to the chips/betting etc.

Lost 3 buyin's or something. Usually I struggle a bit when I move up a limit for a few thousand hands so hoping that's the case again, most of the problem today was mental.

BR is $930~

A bit opposite, when I move up I don't give a sh*t, and typically win really good. However, then burnout sets in and regs get some stats on me and I typically play a bit too greedy so they adjust back at me later on at 10k-15k mark to cause me a mini-downswing, typically.

Don't worry, you're a tough dude, stay on the grind, stay sober. $25nl 6max z is your bi*tch for the taking, youŗe the end-boss now, just put in the work, you'll be over $1250 and coming up soon.

On mental game, have you tried Primed Mind by Fedor Holz? It made a difference for me & helps me to return to good mindset and clear mind easier.

Read Jared Tendler's book before, might have to read it again.

I've had a rough start and a mini mini mini downer at 25nlz so going to take a day or two off and just work on some stuff off the table, nothing major like -6BI. I know myself I'm playing badly too so there isn't really any excuse. My mindset isn't there and I'm having a very hard time concentrating, whether that has something to do with alcohol or not I don't know but playing atm is just setting money on fire.

I shotted 25NL a few days ago too but only played about 500 hands. Was a bit nervous, ran ok, and broke even basically (+16).

I’m now wondering if I should’ve skipped 16NL altogether due to the aggressiveness at 16. I noticed I was calling down much lighter than I ever did at 10NL, which prob doesn’t bode well for 25.

Good stuff keep it up. I dunno about 25nlz, last time I beat it well but got off to a bad start this time. I've had to drop down to rebuild confidence a bit and re-enforce strategy. I'll give it another shot Friday. I find 16 fairly easy now.

Was def tilty/tired towards the end and ranted in chat a few times.

Anyway roll is sitting at $900 - plan is to grind 16nlz Wed and Thurs then give 25 another go over the weekend.

I do think that hand is a fold on the turn. Flop has hardly any draws except for 97 which actually does come in (though I don’t expect UTG to be opening and calling a 3b pre). They are rarely raising lesser than AK here. And u guys are deep and villain is passive.

Deffo, in a good mindset I would have sigh folded turn. My initial reaction was to rage but the reality is I played the hand badly. I'm good at recognizing that after the fact, when it happens in real time everyone else is to blame except me. I think honesty goes a long way in improving as a player. There's a hand that's the exact same I played at 25 a few posts up, the positive is next time it happens I'll remember those hands and make a better decision.

No doubt. This AK hand makes my tilt hands look 100 times horrible. Trust me. When I go on tilt, it’s hilarious....I’ll post one here the next time it happens.

Honesty is always good. And moving down espec. That’s saved me from quitting altogether. We’ve seen u go from 50 to over 1k twice now past 1-2mths. That’s pretty remarkable. Eliminate the tilt and who knows how high u get.

I'm actually fine w/ folding AK OTF vs said opponent. He doesn't know we had AK or AA so I don't think we really show that we're super-exploitable via making this fold. It may look just like we're bluffing AJs or whatever and giving up to aggression. But the reality is, we notice the pattern of his pre' range being pair heavy, he calling 3 bets to setmine when deep and his raises being extremely set-heavy, whist not having any bluff raises in that spot, at least prob. not at this sizing.

Thx for the nice messages, still grinding but had to drop to 16z after a 10bi downswing at 25z. This weekend I grinded 16z and it went really good to the point I recovered and have 44BI for 25z now. Sucks when you move up and run horrid but it can happen.

I think dropping down to regain confidence and reinforce strategy is important. I remember last thread I ran 40bi under EV between 16 and 25 in the same stretch of hands but it eventually started to even out so I need to keep that in mind.

Will post a proper update tomorrow. I'll continue to post hands but I'll be less focused on short term results and more focused on strategy because mindset wise it's bad. Lifestyle wise sleep pattern is still bad but still smoke and alcohol free, started doing some light training too.

Haven't been playing a tonne of hold'em the last few days. I've been playing PLO . I used to enjoy it when I played 8 game and studied it a bit in the past. Games are great in general at 25z and I doubt 50 is much different, been riding a mini heater.
