Do you ever catch yourself being too tilted to play well & becoming an average losing player for those tilted times in even a field as 'soft' as NL5z?

I am playing 5NLz as well at the moment and I agree with the player pool tendencies you mentioned, do you think 10NLz pool is nitfest as well, in the same way as 5NLz's?

I have no idea because I haven't played that much NL5, from what I've played it's probably like 15bb over 50k hands

Anyone can become tilted, look at my previous thread. There was two times in my previous attempt I went on monkey tilt - both were a direct result of alcohol and one of them crippled me.

Normally when I find myself getting tilted to the point I can no longer play well I quit, that doesn't happen very often but it does happen occasionally. If you tilt even in the slightest you will not beat stakes as low as 5NL, that's how difficult poker is nowadays. The free spots are pretty much dried up.

10nl is the same pretty much the same. 16nl is a the opposite.

Steal tonnes from the CO, BTN, SB. Make yourself very hard to play against in the BB ( Don't call hands like A3o, K5s etc, turn these hands into 3bets, start calling A8o+ ). Overfold to 3bets with speculative hands when you're 100bb's deep. 3bet tonnes in position vs the looser players esp btn vs co. Those are some of the things you can do to exploit the player pool at 5 and 10nlz

Thanks, just wanted to hear a second opinion on 10NL. Thanks for the advice, I actually started doing those exact same adjustments a few days ago and you can clearly see the sudden change in my graph line.
For anyone trying to beat micros this post is pure gold.

Does anyone know why I keep getting these blue chests with 20-30 star coins, they take ages to grind too, did they change the system again?

Also 5NL is INSANELY nitty, i don't remember it being this bad a month or 2 ago

You say 5nlz is nitty so why 3bet nice hands in position. Such as QQ. They will over fold and 4bet rarely. Surely you wanna play those nice hands in position and not in tricky spots where you call 4bets. And then 3bet a bunch of junk with good blockers instead.

As for the chests when stars sees your a winning player the chests require more and more points to unlock. However the value you get from the chests stays the same.

Habit to 3bet good and bad hands IP for me, when you move up and play vs good players you need a balanced range. I get what you're saying and I do flat some big pairs sometimes based on what type of player V is. Vs a nit UTG open JJ is a flat for me most of the time, sometimes AK and QQ too.

The chests were different a month ago, last 20 chests I've cleared have had like 5-30 stars coins which is essentially zero rakeback

I’ve noticed it takes much longer to unlock chests...but surely it can’t be based on whether ur a winning player or not. Their system must’ve changed recently.

Yeah 4.5% rakeback turned into 2.25%, that's why they call it "Zero rakeback".

Basically after reading this and making sure it's true, I simply removed "Starsrewards" from display so it doesn't bother me anymore on my tables.

Grinding on Stars can be a terrible experience, make sure you really beat the games, can play out you beating those games hard enough & also have a backup plan.

Your 15bb/100 is very high for NL5 (read: marked Sunrun). If you can maintain 10bb/100, you're the man already so don't go so hard on yourself. Other regs, on average, make way less than you anyway in those micro disgusting stakes. :P

Imo, enable hotkeys, I have two fold hotkeys, fold, fold & watch, use them. 1000h -> 1250h an hour NL5z while 4-tabling ez. Also, imo, 4-color deck phatty cards is way better than 2color regular ones.

Yeah, but it can also be a time of the day with less fish, it can be time of the day with fish but you're dealt in tables vs nits all the time and fishes get stacked vs other people, not you. Nobody hires fishes to play poker, they just come at random time of the day in random numbers and random skill level and fuel PokerStars (with a little going to the tuff regs still standing), basically.

Poker + alcohol is not good, especially if you play in the micros & trying to move up and your roll is vulnerable, doing this (grinding micros alone for a very capped hourly) alone tilts the f' out of you already, EZ to hail mary register high tourney while drunk and lose. If you're capable of going sober like *snaps fingers*, I mean not that easy, but if you can realistically go 100% sober till at least you make it being a tuff reg in NL100z and stay there for months or something, it would prob. be a smart thing to do. Going monkey tilt and losing progress costs way more than the bottle but even the bottle is prob no-buy when playing micros building up roll to move up.

KK hand, do you think you could folded pre-as is. Being min 3bet + 5bet all in, deep (in some disgusting timing, prob. did he snap all in?) that prob. made your subconscious & gut go "oh no he must have AA" b4 calling KK...

You'll prob say "no it's the toph of my range how can I fold Doug Polk yada yada", but:

Q2. Would you fold if your programmer could statistically prove to you that this min3bet 5bet jam pattern in your zoom NL5 level, say, has a 78% confidence that it's AA exactly, thus making your call unprofitable?

Not folding KK for 130bbs pre vs unknown, if you start folding in these spots you're going to end up being paranoid and over folding way too much, the games are nitty but not to the point you should only ever stack off with AA.

TBH, yesterday and today I ran way under expectation given how often I had to fold strong hands or got coolered by quads, it's not the norm ät 5nl, need to treat everything as a long term grind and stay in a positive mindset. Don't forgot KK still has equity against AA

I ran garbage but still netted a profit, for me from a mental standpoint that is a huge win, back to it tomorrow!

This was a weird spot, if i call flop and he jams turn or bets huge i won't be able to call unimproved so decided just to GII to realise equity but he ends up calling which makes it even weirder, strange hand he shows up with..

Love h1. I would've folded the flop because he has a set. But then again, it's not FR nl10z nitfest which died out recently & no, he doesn't.. apparently :P

The problem for him is he doesn't know why he's betting, from his pov is it a bluff or a value bet? It's probably neither. Also screw FR !

How the f* do you beat NL5z so hard? You've got a winrate I've no idea if it's even achieveable in NL2z while 4-tabling & you do it in NL5z, like, what?

What are your VPIP/PFR/3bet/fold_to_3bet/AF?

This sample it's like 24/20 8% 3bet. Rest of the stats are in line with those, standard tag. Gotta run, will update tomorrow
