I appreciate that, thanks for following along!

Played the noon daily at the Horseshoe in Tunica yesterday. $65 entry and $1200 Guaranteed. There were 27 entrants and top 3 got paid.

Ran good. Got down to the final 4 and me and an 90 year old gentleman were the two big stacks. Agreed to a 4 way chop. Big stacks got $350 each and shorties each got $250.

Once we finished there, I had about 2 hours before the next tournament. Stopped and did some major damage to their buffet. Prime Rib was overcooked but I devoured lots of crab legs and crawfish. Waddled back to the poker room to register for the next tournament.

I guess once a month or so they have a big $50,000 guarantee tournament. Entry was ony $165. 3 Starting flights, 12K in chips and 30 minute levels with day 2 playing out on Sunday. There were 179 entrants for the Friday night flight and everyone surviving through level 12 moved on to day 2.

I played really well in this one for about the first 7 levels. Had about 40,000 in chips and was feeling really good. Flopped a flush draw, bet the flop, turn hard, missed and then barreled the river. Thought my opponent would fold, I was wrong and his call with middle pair got him half my stack....

Not sure what happened after that. My energy was zapped, it was a long day of poker. I completely lost my mind and played like an untrained donkey. Made terrible calls and even though I still had a healthy stack, over the next hour or so I just donked it off. Was disappointed with myself.

Really got me thinking about preparing myself physically and not just mentally. Diet and exercise with proper sleep will help. Need to get into the lab and study the most GTO health strategy

Today, I have a load and I can drive and extra 170 miles and be back in time to nap a bit and play the last starting flight this evening and give it another go. Pretty sure that is what I am going to do, will update soon.

Drove about 400 miles today. Got back near Tunica, took a nap, had a shower and ate a light meal. Arrived back at the Horseshoe about an hour late, felt real good and ready to play. Jumped in the last flight of the $50,000 Guaranteed and immediately began to spew chips. Wasn't long before I was a short stack and was dealt JJ and pushed all in on the button. Small blind calls with AQ and takes me out. Walked around for a bit trying to decide if I fire another bullet or call it a day.

Paid my $165 again and sat down again to play. It was a bit different this time. I spent more time thinking about my opponents ranges, tightened up my range a bit and my stack slowly began to grow. The last hour was a lot of fun. I took out a few short stacks and a couple medium stacks. Really dominated the table at the end. 44 of the 264 people that started the flight made it to day 2. The average stack size at the end of the day was 70,000. I bagged 190,000 and will start day 2 with 47 Big Blinds. There are a lot of really short stacks and we are not in the money yet. They are estimating between $80,000 and $90,000 in the prizepool when the final numbers are out tomorrow.

Well, poker resumes in about 8 hours, need to get my beauty rest. Peace

107 Players advance, 91K prize pool, 18K up top and 81 make the money.

Day 2, I have 190,000 in chips and start the day 4th in chips. Well my stack started 4th, I didn't...

Go up showered and ready to head to the Horseshoe and discover my flat tire. Joyous. Get that handled and arrive 25 minutes late. Blinds were 2000/4000 with a $500 ante. Stack was below 170,000 when I arrived. Was dealt my first hand, still getting my jacket off not even sat down. Look down at at K 10 off and decide to open from middle position for 10K. Button calls hit a 10 high flop and I bet out 15K, Button calls, 5 on the turn, for some messed up reason I check with my top pair/second kicker, Button checks. Turn comes a Jack, I check, Button bets 15K, I call, Button wins with JQ off. Stack now under $130,000. Blinds pass me and sitting in the hijack, look down a pocket 6's and open for 10K, small blind pushed all-in and I fold, Stack now around $110,000. A few hands later, I look down at pocket 9's, open for 10K and the big blind, who is very LAG and just saw me fold an open, pushes all in. I glance at his stack, looked to be about 50K, I call. He flips over KK, I lose. As they were counting out his chips I almost vomited and paid the man, 87,000. Leaving me about 20,000 and still 10 away from the money. I love this game! Made it to the money and exited in 77th for $235...

Gotta be honest, this was rough. I was expecting to final table this one. I know, it is poker and anything can happen but finished way below my EV. Is it ok for a 270 pound, 50 year old man to just sit and cry? I hate this game, I love this game, I hate this game, I love this game, the journey continues...

There are several things I should have done different, etched in my memory forever, that will make be a better poker player. Good news is, there is always another tournament somewhere.

Sitting in a McDonalds just outside of Springfield, IL. Haven't played any live tournaments since my last post. Been playing some on Global, relaxing and studying. I deliver Monday in Detroit and will be spending the next couple days enjoying some time with my grandkids. I may take a few days off the road after that and play a few days of morning and evening tournaments. Either at the Hollywood in Toledo or Firekeepers in Battle Creek. Will check my apps and see where the best tourneys are at.

Did you play any cash games in Detroit? Is it worth going out of the way?

Just go off a 2 week vacation with the family. Sunburn is healing well and I am itching to get to some live tournaments. Currently siting near Columbus OH and depending on freight, I may get to play some tonight.

Vacation was awesome. Feel refreshed and ready to set some pretty big goals for myself.

Wow, just going back and reading through this thread. Cannot believe I have only played 22 live tournaments this year, way below what I expected. I think the problem has been my job. I have expected that I would have money able to add to my poker bankroll from my driving but that just has not been the case. Instead, I have had to deplete my savings and my roll to pay bills. I deliver expedited freight in a van around the country. Freight has been really slow, gas prices are increasing and rates are depressed. It is time to bail, cannot continue to go backwards financially.

So now what? Well, if my goal is to be a full-time tournament pro, I need to aggressively pursue that! Since I have made that decision, I have secured some backing for a few tournaments on Global during their Rattlesnake Open which begins tonight. I have been playing some pretty good focused poker, and am up over $1000 on Global over the last 5 days and am really excited going forward. My objective right now is to stay home, spend three weeks grinding the Rattlesnake Open, studying, working out and then head to Vegas for about 15 days for the Colossus, Millionaire Maker and some daily's there. All the while making sure my little blonde has enough money for bills.

Trying to visualize what my days should be like, to help hit my goals for May

AM 1 hour with the Lord, spending time in Bible and prayer, 1 hour working out/being active, 1 hour of poker study, 1 Session of MTT's
PM Time with the blonde and hit her To Do list, evening MTT session, update progress, analyze the day, set tomorrows study agenda.

I have lost 20 pounds over the last 2 weeks, eliminating the foo foo coffee and basically doing a modified low carb, high protein diet. Going to continue with that, adding exercise with a goal of dropping another 20 before Vegas.

Ya know, I set goals that are a bit of stretch and don't always hit them. I have always believed that goals should be tough and will stretch me and help me grow, if I hit them or come up short.

Will keep ya posted

Feeling the painful side of variance so far this week. Down a couple hundred and seem to fall victim to runner runner situations over and over again. But, I know that will change. it always does

I was playing 7K guarantee/ $5 rebuy on Global tonight and thought I found my run good. There is $1500 up top and spent most of the time after we hit the money running between 3rd and 15th in chips. Got down to the last 2 tables and went absolutely card dead. Seems like just about every starting hand had a two in it.... Exited the tournament in 11th for $92 so frustrating to run that cold at such a key time. Was already planning how that $1500 for 1st was going to work into my plan. Oh well, same tournament runs again tomorrow.

Have a backer for some of the Rattlesnake Open tournaments on Global. 0 for 4 in that package so far with 4 more tourney's to go over the next couple days. Wish me luck!

Been sticking to my plan and am going to work my way to Vegas the beginning of June.

Hope ya flop a monster

It has been 30 days since I came off the road and began doing a full time poker grind with the goal of preparing for this summer. It is so weird not cruising around the country delivering freight but it was time to bring that chapter to a close. Fuel prices are up, rates are down along with just crappy lifestyle that was dragging my health down.

Been at home, getting some exercise, studying and playing a lot on Global Poker. The structure on these tournaments is pretty fast on average (like your normal live daily tournament), there are no HUDs or poker tracking software that I am aware of. I just felt like that if I am going to work on my all around game, it made sense to me to make my decisions with my brain and not based on HUD, just like in a live tournament. I have a new friend and coach that has helped me lot over the last month. I have never had someone to talk about hands and challenge my thinking. The difference that makes is unquestionable. May 2018 will be known as a breakthrough month for me. It has been a month of growth and improving. I have a long long way to go but I have a new confidence and excitement.

Here are my MTT results so far on Global
https://www.sharkscope.com/#Player-S...lass:SCHEDULED

Next Sunday will be playing in the Colossus in Vegas, then grind some of the WSOP $250 Daily tournaments and if profitable, will play in the Millionaire Maker. I would love to stay throughout the series but it is all bankroll dependent. I know I will eventually be traveling and grinding tournaments around the country, however long that takes is fine. I know I will get there. Will keep you updated and you can follow along on Twitter @StackinPoker

If you want a good sweat, you can purchase a piece of my Vegas trip for as little as $40

Ughh, had to push my Vegas trip back a week. I guess the WSOP will have to survive without me for a bit. Action in Vegas begins on June 9th. I need this trip bad, been playing online and studying a lot. Sometimes, I just feel like I have been unfaithful to my true poker passion, which is live tournaments. Not to worry my love, we will be reunited soon.

I like your thread. Any chance of an update. ( Thats weird I've just seen your latest update today, when I typed this I only saw one from Febuary?????)

Since you are driving and playing around the country have you thought of a gym membership you can use nationwidewhich which also has pool and spa facilities such as sauna and hot tubs. If you can do that and focus on health I think you will go much further in the MTT's. Carefull of low carb diets too. Good carbs are no problem, its just the crap ones you want to avoid. No carbs will leave a man a zombie.

if you are going to start lifting weights make sure you stretch like a yogi!

In fact typing this has made me decide to take care of my own health too. I'm going for a run.

Good luck!

Well I have sat at my kitchen table for 40 days of playing, studying, thinking, walking and talking poker. I am up a bit not not where I was hoping to be at this point. Got a pretty good offer from transportation company to go back out on the road. So, I figure I will have lots of downtime to play poker and again will be able to play a lot of live poker around the country as well. So, today I am heading to pick up my van and my dispatcher is looking for a load towards Tunica for the Magnolia State Poker Tournament at the Horseshoe and then a hard push for a load out west... My posting will be increasing a lot.

Picked up a load Tuesday in Grand Haven, MI drove it to Kansas City. Been telling my dispatcher I really needed to get towards Memphis to play in a couple tournament this week. She got me a load to Peoria, IL and delivered that Thursday morning. The plan was to nap then bolt to Tunica with or without a load. In the meantime, one of our "special" customers needed a shipment taken up to Williston, ND. That was an easy "no, find someone else" followed by a call 10 minutes later saying "no one on my list available to take it, please help." Still an easy "no, find someone else" which repeated 3 or 4 times, it was crazy.

Just finished an 1150 mile trip to Williston ND and am exhausted. I had backers who were planning on me playing in Tunica and now I have to let them know that it didn't happen. Good news is, it is the weekend and am finally going to play some live poker. Bad news, nearest poker room is 260 miles from here and to find a decent poker room it is a 600+ mile trip. Will give my dispatcher to the end of the day to get me out of here. If she doesn't, then will probably head to either Minneapolis or Sioux Falls.

Will post some poker results this weekend for sure. ( When I say for sure I really mean "oh help me Jesus!)

Tournament earnings do not equate to profits. Especially not after living expenses and taxes. It is not realistic to break into being a professional poker tournament player imo. You could maybe make a living if you played primarily cash games but there is just way too much variance in tournaments.

Good luck!
