Thanks for the kind words guys. Have been following your threads as well keep up the good work and play!
Poker Update:
I lied about the game selection. Had a good pep talk with a few people I respect and decided to fire anything with an edge and embrace the swings.
Sunday was one of the most ridiculous days I've ever had. Second in net profit to the day I won the Warmup as a newbie for 6 figures. It feels pretty incredible and is honestly such a huge boost for a weak mental game fish like me. I thought I'd have a good shot at doing well when leaving my job but I never would have imagined I'd start like this.
Here's a recap of the day's festivities.
- Early Grind: I started real fresh and early even managing to find myself in games like the $55 5K 6-Max on Party and the $55 10K on 888. I found a 6th for $158 in the 6-Max and an 18th in the Monsoon for $77.62. I try to stick to around 12 tables on Sundays.
- Midway through the session I was building quite a few stacks and had built up a sizable PKO total in the $530 500K. I finished 6th in a $109 7.5K Gtd turbo around this time for $413 and was a bit disappointed not to go further. Side-note: these tournaments are pretty good spots for overlay value hunters as Party tries to expand to the :30 time slot.
During this time I played a hand in the $530 500K on Party I'm not happy with.

Pio has issues with my decision on each street so this can be a rare hand where every street is butchered. This was at BB 2500 so not early stages. We were two of the chip leaders and I think I had $1100 or so in bounties.
- 9th Place $215 40K Sunday Kickoff for $800
Had my first big money spot come up an hour later or so. We were 9 left in the $215 40K with a stout $8.8K up top. I had this spot against a very good regular, 3nipa, who gives me a lot of trouble actually. I find him very trappy/creative and apparently he ravages on Party.
I just looked him up on Scope and it looks like he hasn't been active on Stars since 2017? So either a ban or a screenname change? Weird.
Anyways, I was pretty gutted to lose this hand but I pulled myself together on break and kept a positive outlook. At this point I was developing quite a run in both the Party $215 100K and the Party $320 Gladiator 200K PKO. Moral of the story is don't open A2o from the CO.

- 5th Place Party $215 100K Main Event for $4540
A few hours later going into break I was near the final table of the $215 100K with an absolutely massive $18.8k up top. This one had a weird pay structure where it seemed quite top heavy compared to what I'm used to. It was a very tough and aggressive second to last table for me so I just tried to pick my spots.
At the final table I did some wiggling and thrusting and eventually we ended up 5-handed. We played 5-handed for 63 hands (!) and the shorter stacks kept holding or sucking out. I managed to join the action by sucking out with JTs against AJo but had also lost some flips before that.
I busted 5th in this hand which was pretty brutal considering the stack set up and runout:

The opponent in this hand mostly collected the excess EV at this table. Think he ran like 7m or so above. Even at this point I wasn't too upset because I still had a few other runs to focus on and I've really tried to make strides in my mental game despite having a rough few weeks.

I shoved this hand and my HUD/setup were blocking the card to the left of the screen. I just saw the 6 spade K spade J heart run out really fast and thought I was drawing pretty much dead on the turn. I rivered the Ace, thought I was still out, and the pot was being moved to me and I was surprised. I saw the 6's were paired.
From this point I actually busted all 6 players in the next 9 hands. Even recapping it now it's just unreal.

The 15bb reshover and the overcaller (GooseCore who is one of my favorite elite pros and streamers) both had $2900 or so on them. I would actually run this versus the first shover anyways so I just threw in that extra Goose equity and decided to gamble it up.

- 2nd Place in the WPN $215 125K Sunday Special for $21,519
Preposterous. With that wrapped up I still had a final table at the $215 Sunday Special on WPN to win with $29,887 up top. This table was by far the softest of the day and I had built a massive chip lead of 91bb while 7-handed at that point. I managed to cruise to heads up and then lost a bunch of pots and a flip to finish second.
So overall Sunday was a good day. There's been some news in the poker world I might want to discuss at some point. I'm just going to keep grinding hard and studying as well. See you in the streets.
