Re: Working for myself. Chapter I

Yay, our first HU. Ok, was just an $2,5 180man, but I'll take it. V had 2:1 chip ratio and I lost, so that sucks.

Oh man I'd be so happy to be able to play non-turbo MTT's.. These turbo-MTT's have been improving my 10-20bb game a lot, but I dont think my best edge (if I have one) will still be on those.

Nevertheless, +$64 today so I'll take it.

EDIT2: Btw, I love Tonkaaa... Been watching waaaay too much of his videos while playing (or listening basically). I love that dude. Funny as hell.

Chips won is a useless metric in MTTs. For example, 100,000 chips sometimes might only equate to one big blind when you get deep in a tournament, wheras at the start of a tournament 3000 chips might equate to 150 Big Blinds.

You'd be better off looking at your EV bb/100 stat in Hold Em Manager to see if you are making chips at the table. Also filter by stack size to see how you are doing playing with 100 big blinds, 50 big blinds, 10 big blinds etc.

Also realise that if you want to make a living out of tournaments you would probably need to be buying in for at least $1000 every day. With a projected ROI of 12.5% that would equate to a daily projected salary of $125 per day.

Thanks for your input. I don't actually know what to make of the bb/100 stats, when it comes to MTT's. I do have a hunch, and as you mentioned it's somewhat relevant metric to follow here and there.

I am not looking to grind MTT's full-time at the moment. It's definitely something I will consider, if that opportunity reveals itself, but there too much changing factors for me to make anything of it. Btw, here's my BB/100 graph so far. Sample size obviously not that big, I'm not able to play with crazy volume atm.

EDIT: Or not lol. I guess that isn't the stat you were talking about. Oh well.

Re: Working for myself. Chapter I

Last 2 days have been pretty good. Well, only played 11 tournaments w/ 37% ITM and few frustrating semi-deep runs, that ended badly. Yesterday I bought a $22 ticket, played $22 PSKO and finished somewhere around 70 players left. Managed to collect ~$60's in booties, so that's nice.

I can clearly feel that the bigger score is just around the corner. I genuinely feel I have a pretty good edge on these micro MTT's and will eventually profit from that.

Need to work on my late game performance, since I notice I still get a bit too scared-money when entering the deeper stages of tournaments. I guess good way to get rid of it is just play with big volume, but that's not an option for me at this point. Any suggestions how to overcome that problem?

Think of money as play-chips and make +EV decisions Working more on theoretical side of the game should eliminate this problem.
