Greetings and salutations, fine folks of 2+2. After about 3 years of playing small to midstakes MTTs on and off, I have decided to hang up my tournament poker cap... and put on my cash game hat. According to Sharkscope, I was up about $3K on WPN playing tournies, and though I didn't keep track, I would estimate that I was just slightly more profitable on Ignition. Profit aside, I rarely studied, had horrendous bankroll management; I wasn't doing any of the stuff away from the table that winning players should do. For this challenge, that has changed. This is the model I am using for bankroll management and when to move up/down stakes.
I have started with $60 playing 2NL as of last week. This is my graph so far through ~7.3K hands.
These are some stats.
When I began playing 2NL on WPN for the challenge, I was playing my usual LAG game that I did when I was playing MTTs. I quickly learned that it wasn't profitable to play this way against the player pool. I tightened up everything a bit, specifically my opening ranges, and began to see the difference.
One thing that is still loose about my play is my calling range in position on the flop. While the regs seem to be opening proper ranges, many of them play far too snug postflop. In fact, only a handful are capable of double-barreling; one or two of which have a triple-barrel bluff in their arsenal. Because of the highly conservative post-flop play, Making a loose call on the flop, then either improving or bluffing has proven to be quite profitable for the time being.
See anything you like? Don't like? Any recommendations for me? That's why I'm here! Please let me know how I could improve my play or offer me something to take into consideration. I promise all constructive criticism is welcome.
And hey, if you're a 2NL reg on WPN, let's chat! I'd love to interact online with a reg or two that I've been playing thousands of hands with.
Thanks for reading!
