Crushing with Adriatique
As I already wrote down I would visit another festival this Saturday and unfortunately.. it's already over. It was really awesome! I had a blast and like always it felt like time was moving twice as fast. And yet we've spent the whole day (1.30 until 11.00) at the festival. I enjoyed Adriatique the most I guess, however Maceo Plex was awesome as well. It happened to be too crowded w Maceo, but we already figured that out before he would start but yet decided to stay and join his set until the end. Now we have to wait a couple of weeks, but at least we've got the next party planned with Jeff Mills and Rodhad. Looking forward already
As for poker I have played a couple of extra hands since my last update and we've added a few stacks to our bankroll. I am really happy about my play this month and I hope I can keep on doing the right things at the tables.
March to an end
Another winning month means we're probably doing something right
I'm happy with my results in the end, however it would really be awesome if I could have gotten to $1k once again (years ago ). But for now I'm happy and hopefully we can continue this in April.
Running wise I'm pretty happy as well. Altho I had a few problems with my knee, I'm getting back on track and ran another 4 mile last Monday. Making a total of 40 miles this month. And also crushed my goal of 62m (100km) in two months, February and March. With the weather getting better I'm going for some extra miles these days.
Starting strong
I just finished March with a new 'high' this year booking a nice win, however April already got the finest start. I didn't play too much hands, but maybe I should have played more Friday was just fine. I didn't have too much time, but didn't make any big mistakes. Saturday was looking pretty hot, but unfortunately I couldn't make a real big score and today was like Friday:
Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, CO raises to 9 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 6 BB
Flop:(19.5 BB, 2 players) 3 8 A Hero checks, CO bets 12 BB, Hero raises to 30 BB, CO calls 18 BB
Turn:(79.5 BB, 2 players) 8 Hero bets 61 BB and is all-in, CO calls 61 BB
River:(201.5 BB, 2 players) 5 Players agreed to run it twice.
River #2:(201.5 BB, 2 players) T
Hero shows A K (Two Pair, Aces and Eights)
Board #1 (Pre 75%, Flop 88%, Turn 90%)
(Two Pair, Aces and Eights)
Board #2 (Pre 75%, Flop 88%, Turn 90%)
CO shows A Q (Two Pair, Aces and Eights)
Board #1 (Pre 25%, Flop 12%, Turn 10%)
(Two Pair, Aces and Eights)
Board #2 (Pre 25%, Flop 12%, Turn 10%)
Hero wins 98.76 BB Hero wins 98.74 BB
We also booked the biggest run for the year today. I went on a run with 2 friends. One of them runs a lot (think twice as much as I do) so it was quite a journey. Had some trouble keeping up sometimes but eventually felt really good. Hopefully I can continue this.
And to finish this post I've fixed tickets for another festival in May, with names as big as Len Faki, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims, Surgeon and Dense & Pika. Looking forward already, but first we've got Jeff Mills & Rodhad at the end of this month! I couldn't resist buying some new bangers for the coming events:
Short update
I have been busy.. but no so much with poker. Mainly the reason I haven't been updating this thread in the meantime. And I think I might play a little less poker the next couple of weeks, because I have to work on my Intern Plan for my course. In 8 weeks I have to hand in the paper and I haven't got any closer to the end since I've started the course lol. I really need to work my ass off to finish this, so I've just blocked my Fridays. Done for today, think I could have done some more, but hey, at least we made some progress
I am trying to get a few hands in this weekend because I haven't played a single hand since last Sunday. It didn't go too well, so my bad-ass start went a little bit downhill.
The same goes for running, hah. I have worked out almost every day, but only in house (just my own training), which made me lack a little bit on running.
For now just a couple of hands and this month's overview:
fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.5 BB, SB raises to 8 BB, fold, Hero raises to 19 BB, SB raises to 110.96 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 81 BB and is all-in
Flop:(201 BB, 2 players) 9 A J
Turn:(201 BB, 2 players) 4
River:(201 BB, 2 players) 2 Players agreed to run it twice.
Short story
A quick and dirty update for now, because I'm not in front of my desktop with PT4. So you'll have to wait to the monthly wrap-up for some hands.
I haven't been able to play a lot to be honest. Knowing this I still was a little shocked when I figured out I've only played about 15 hours this month so far I'm still busy buying stuff for our new house, figure out how we want our garden and choosing the floor. Well, most of it is finally done, but there's so much left to do. Besides that I have to put in some hours writing my essay. Which is pretty hard, tbh.
Next Tuesday we're gonna go partying, so I'm not sure if we're gonna make Gold Star this month But hey, at least we're gonna go see Jeff Mills and Rodhad
Crushing 50
Another months over and I barely got in enough hands to complete Gold Star. It almost felt like working today and yesterday! But in the end it was worth it! I managed to win $1K at 50z this month, really nice feeling.
I even jumped in the 100z pool today, but I didn't play really well tbh. I was too much focussed on the new pool that I couldn't get it going, but after all I am glad I did it again.
The graph:
For now a couple of hands of these days: Pretty loose call if we consider positions here but whatever
Offtable work
Besides poker I obv. went to a party in the meantime, last Thursday I saw Rødhåd performing in a perfectly fine big indoor fest. Before him I also experienced the full gigs of Kobosil and Shifted and last bot not least closing 'the night' was Jeff Mills with his sick 909-bangers. Had a blast and finally found my bed @10.30 in the morning
I've completed a few miles every now and then and we can write down 37 miles. I'm not really proud of it, but at least we're still on track for the year.
So, to summarize this all: Poker: + 20 BI Running: 37 miles
Can't win 'm all
We're already a couple of days in May and unfortunately it's not going as well as last month with poker. I haven't played many hands yet, but I'm down a few buy ins so far. Just variance if I'm checking hands, nothing to worry about.
On the flipside I banked $ 500 with my Star Coins and it felt right to withdraw it right away so we can spend some
Running
As for running I finally registered for the race on June 5th, gonna go for 10km under 40 minuten. We'll see what happens. First I need to get back 'motivation' (and time) to run some more, because for May we're only 5km in The only positive is that I managed to run this in 18 minutes.
Really inspiring. You seem to be crushing without actually playting too much.
What helped you to get to where you are today? Books, videos or just playing?
Really appreciate it
Best of luck
Thanks for your words.
To begin I want to say I've got only 80k hands in for the year so it might be pure variance and rungood. I don't do much off-table work, because I simply don't have the time and I just like to play poker instead when I have time. Second it probably helped that I switched from 3 to 2 tables of Zoom. Now I just have a little more time to think and it prevents me from autopiloting. Probably another smart idea: I don't force myself for 'getting in more hands' anymore. It's just not worth it. There's so much else than poker
Monthly wrap-up
After a really nice April there was only one possibility: doing worse in the following month. And so I did. I'm glad we're done for the month, because I didn't get anything going from the start. At least we didn't lose big time and it's probably very clear to me that I've just been too busy with other stuff so poker couldn't end very well.
The same goes for updating this thread. I've been very busy doing stuff for our house which will be ready in about two months and obviously writing my essay is a weekend-killer. I doubt June will be any better but at least I have to hand in the paper at June 14th. I'm anything but done, but I'm pretty happy how I handle this thing after work hours.
Unfortunately I'm still a little injured, so next weekend's 10km race won't be happening for me. I ran here and there, but each time my knees started to backfire. Really disappointed because I was really doing well in the past months and I was hoping for a good score. But what can you do.
At least I went to a few party's in May, the biggest one with Len Faki and Chris Liebing. I also enjoyed another cool liveset from Kölsch and last weekend I went to see Secret Cinema. Good times
Awakeningsssss
So, we're already halfway the year 2016. It doesn't feel this way, especially when we take a look outside. The weather still sucks..
Thankfully we were 'lucky' to have a nice day last Saturday when I went to Awakenings to see some of my favorite artists. I had a blast, really good festival and enjoyed Extrawelt a lot. I've also seen Mind Against performing, in between I hopped some stages and I ended @ Adam Beyer who dropped some serious bombs. Really enjoyable day. I met a lot of people from Europe, really fun. Enough of that.
Pokerwise I managed to book a losing month for the 2nd time this year. I can't say I played any decent volume and I didn't even manage to get Gold Star. I was too busy with other stuff. Our house is coming closer, my weekends were completely booked and I had to hand in my paper. I handled last thing and will get results July 11th. Let's see how that goes.
I marked some hands during the month but didn't check results much. It didn't affect my playing style which is fine imo. Let's take a look at the monthly graph and show some of those marked hands. I will finish with the summary of this year.
fold, fold, CO raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, fold, CO calls 7 BB
Flop:(21.5 BB, 2 players) 7 9 3
CO checks, Hero bets 14 BB, CO raises to 62.42 BB, Hero raises to 135.5 BB and is all-in, fold
Hero wins 142.34 BB
2016 so far
And then there's running: I'm still not fully recovered with my knees so I didn't run that much or big distances. In total I ran 18 km (11miles) .
But on the other side: I'm going out for a run today soon.
Summary FAILED Poker: -6 BI Running: 11 miles
July 2016
This month I'm getting the results of my paper. That will be on July 11th and when I get a 'go' (go/no go) I have to write another essay in 8 weeks. So I'm hoping for some poker before that and on top off I've got a week off in July. Mostly to relax a little off-work, do some fun things and try to grind a little as well. Looking forward to that week. July 23 I'm going to another Festival. Pan-Pot will be performing and I haven't seen this guy before. Looking forward to it. Let's crush some miles and dollars in July!
I booked another party for october when it's madness in town, gonna go see Tale of Us again
Speaking of Tale of Us: their most used intro for sets of 2015/2016 is just released: no bass, no ****, just freaking epic: Lies
**** i'd froth seeing tale of us and/or extrawelt live :') you're so lucky. im heading to Dirty Workz tonight to get some Hard Driver and Phrantic (hardstyle sadly). gonna be lit.

GL w july <3
Thanks man.
I just googled some of those Harde Driver and Phrantic tunes, but it's not really my music hah. I used to listen to hardstyle like 10 years ago, but I can't take it anymore
Yeah I'm about the same. Except there's a real big local HardEDM scene where I am. Absolute trash house scene though. You either get hardstyle/hardcore or trap. :|
Almost ten again
This month started out great if we take a look at my preset goals. I've already run twice for a total of 17 kilometers (~11 miles) which is almost what I've done last month I'm really happy with the first one where I almost got 10k in again (9.7 lol). My knees are good again and it feels awesome to run outside again. I'm hoping to get in some more next weekend, but I've got a ****load of plans.
I also started pretty nice with poker. I've got 3k hands in for now and I've won quite some stacks. A few hands I've marked last weekend:
UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, CO raises to 5 BB, fold, fold, Hero raises to 20 BB, fold, CO calls 15 BB
Flop:(43.5 BB, 2 players) 2 5 T Hero bets 30.5 BB, CO raises to 61 BB, Hero raises to 132.56 BB and is all-in, CO calls 71.56 BB
Turn:(308.62 BB, 2 players) 8
River:(308.62 BB, 2 players) K
Hero shows A A (Flush, Ace High)
(Pre 92%, Flop 97%, Turn 100%) CO shows J A (High Card, Ace)
(Pre 8%, Flop 3%, Turn 0%) Hero wins 304.62 BB
I wasn't too sure what to do on this turn, we have the nuts like 99% (don't see many KXcombo's in his range pre except for maybeee K9). I'm really interested in what others have to say about what to do on this turn?
Turn:(14.5 BB, 2 players) A BB checks, Hero bets 8 BB, BB raises to 20 BB, Hero ??
Keep on crushing
Let's continu the rungood and keep on crushing 50z
To end this little update I really like this track. Gets me pretty much in the zone, however I can imagine others may think it's kinda the same stuff all over again.
I'm assuming villain is a recreational so either way is fine w the J8cc hand, like you say I think we have the nuts very often. vs his sizing I would prob just 3b turn to a small size and jam rest on river, since it sucks if he starts out river by checking valuehands, which I think will happen a fair bit. But if we call turn and he bets river I'd jam vs most of his sizings, don't think that's too thin.

Villain seemed to be a reg, but not too many hands (he was multitabling). 3b turn is probably best indeed, but I was worried I would cap my range here to flushes and flushes only. Thanks, appreciate the feedback.
