We back after a loooooong break

Hi PG&C!

My name is Evan. A little background. I've been here since '03. I did well enough online pre black Friday to play a lot of golf during my college years, and not have to worry about a real job. After BF I had some success in the FT heads up NL games, but was basically break even in ring games. So I was never a great player by any means.

These days I'm a regular grown up with a job and a wife. But after reading lots of threads in this forum over the last couple of months I got the itch to jump back in. Realistically I should probably be playing 5 or 10 NL, but I deposited a roll for 25NL on Ignition (benefits of a day job?) and will be grinding there.

My plan is to use this thread primarily to discuss hands and pick the brains of my bettors. So lets go.

Re: We back after a loooooong break

First hand. Historically my 3B% has been around 4.5 which I know is super low in today's game, so trying to open up. Villain has TAGish (do people still say TAG? lawl) stats over a meaningless sample

Ignition - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: 99.8 BB (VPIP: 71.43, PFR: 16.67, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 8)
BTN: 95.6 BB (VPIP: 37.50, PFR: 28.57, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 8)
Hero (SB): 99.8 BB
BB: 394.48 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 8)
UTG: 100 BB (VPIP: 14.29, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
MP: 92.8 BB (VPIP: 37.50, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 33.33, Hands: 8)

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J Q

UTG raises to 3.4 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 8.8 BB, fold, UTG calls 5.4 BB

Flop: (18.6 BB, 2 players) 9 5 4
Hero bets 8.84 BB, UTG calls 8.84 BB

Turn: (36.28 BB, 2 players) Q
Hero checks, UTG bets 17.24 BB, Hero calls 17.24 BB

River: (70.76 BB, 2 players) Q
Hero checks, UTG checks

Hero wins 67.24 BB

I think I may have played every street poorly. Thoughts?

Re: We back after a loooooong break

preflop Id say make it 3x + 2-3bbs oop.
flop I like, is pretty try so a cbet should take it down most of the time.
turn and river Im not sure about

Re: We back after a loooooong break

Don't mind the 3b sizing vs such a strong range and big open size, flop c bet size is good. OTT just bet again similar size 50-60 he can have FDs here TT,88 and couple of draws, then river is just a easy shove here mate. As played donk the river don't think we should be worried about his 1/2 pot OTT vs your missed c bet with this hand.

Re: We back after a loooooong break

1/3 sizing OTT, maybe go larger depending on how many FD's and 9x are in his range

I play on ignition as well the 6max games are a joke haha too bad u can only play 4 tables, also my name is Evan too

4.5% 3! is stupid low (i imagine u'd be losing/b/e at ssnl) especially from micros-small stakes i believe they all have the same 5% rake

Glad ur back GL

Re: We back after a loooooong break

Thanks fellas. Yeah, the 3! Stat is embarrassing. It just didn't used to be necessary. It's definitely something I plan to work on.

I'm still unable to download hhs, so I only have the ones PT4 grabs while playing. So no zone for now. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

About to start a session, hopefully I have some interesting hands.

Re: We back after a loooooong break

Ignition players, is it normal to get disconnected during a hand, be reconnected but have your screen be grayed out and unable to act? Very frustrating. I played like 200 hands before that happened while involved in two big pots. Ugh.

No relevant stats on villains. I think this is standard but I'm so rusty I'm not sure. I don't feel great about preflop but idk.

Re: We back after a loooooong break

Hey man my best advice to you is not to post here for advice or strats (some are wrong some are right) if u really want to improve do it urself otherwise u will just steer yourself in the wrong direction.

Lol that hh u have villain's whole cards shown , well think about his range preflop for ccing in sb (even if he's a 50vpip fish hes gonna be calling less then out of bb) and his range OTR

GL my older friend

Re: We back after a loooooong break

Hey bud thanks for the reply. I prefer posting here, the micro nl forum is grim these days. And I like this sub a lot.

These games are really, really good which is nice. Just gotta figure out how to play poker. Thinking about getting a RIO sub

SB: 136.84 BB (VPIP: 70.59, PFR: 17.65, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 17)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K K

Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, CO calls 3 BB, BTN calls 3 BB, SB calls 2.6 BB, fold

Flop: (13 BB, 4 players) Q 3 3
SB bets 9.36 BB, Hero calls 9.36 BB, CO raises to 20.32 BB and is all-in, fold, SB raises to 31.28 BB, Hero raises to 127.96 BB and is all-in, SB calls 96.68 BB

Turn: (289.24 BB, 3 players) 6

Flat the flop hoping to get stacks in on the turn against these guys, don't expect to see any 3's so I feel like I basically have the nuts. Then some stuff happens. Seems ok?
