I made this blog in pokerstrategy.com as well. Someone over there asked me about my poker history and I somehow found it in myself to spill it all out. So here it is for you guys too.
I started playing around mid 2009. Started with a $70 deposit, short stacking. Beat up to nl10, then broke even on nl25, binked 3rd in a 3$ mtt for about 600 and started playing with 100bb on stars nl10 fullring. 20 tabled and crushed for a small sample with some nitty strategy. Moved to nl25 on FTP to clear the $600 first deposit bonus, did well, then started joining the public coachings down in the spanish community of pokerstrategy. Learned a lot, started thinking about ranges, and poker became a lot more fun
Moved up to nl50 (still fullring), went from 12/9/3 to 24/20/7. Moved up to nl100, at this point i had fell in love with deep ante games. Beat it for 8bb/100, took a nl200 shot and ran terribly for 15k hands, but was pretty confident with my game. Still, I've been eyeing the 6max games for a while and decided to start playing nl50 short handed. It was a bit hard to adapt but beat it for about 3.50bb/100 over 50k hands or something. Moved up and beat nl100 for about 8bb/100 despite a 30k hand utterly tilted period where i lost 3k lol. Then i played MTTs for 3 months (terrible lifestyle imo) shipped some small stuff, the big 100 on stars for 10k was the biggest along with 5th or something in the first ever partypoker pokerfest tourney (like party's WCOOP) for the same amount (was a $215). Then shipped a satty for LAPT Punta del Este, never played live before but gave it a good go cashing the main event 25th/422 for 5k. Immediatly went to play the 1k second chance and busted within an orbit in a very avoidable 200bb """cooler""" KK vs AA.
Back home, went back to cashgames. Won another live sat though, LAPT Lima this time. Played 5 events and ran bad. Pretty sure i had Gripsed on my first main event table, although i didn't know him at the time.
Then kept playing cash, nl100 rush and then 200, shortly after it was released. Quickly moved to 400 with 40 buy ins or something, nl400 rush, then on party. Had a 7k week frustrated by a 90/70 drunken maniac (open pre for 50bb utg with T4s kind of guy) taking like 3.5k from me. Some 2-5 outers then the biggest pot of my life where we are both $1600 deep, he opens for 400, i flat KJcc and flop QcTc4h, ship it vs his cbet and he shows up with AQ and fades
And then black friday happens...
My roll was at it's highest point, about 30k... but a bit over 20k were now stuck in FTP.
I played nl200 on party, ran bad and tilted like never before. Moved down, then barely played (>10k hands/month) for a year and a half. Kept watching videos and reading forums pretty much daily the whole time though.
When FTP came back i was 24 years old, still at my parents' home and sick of it :P. Decided to rent an aprtament on the capital (5hs bus from my town) and start grinding nl100 for a living, mostly deep ante games on stars and hu. Had plenty of 1k days and even a 1.2k day 9 tabling nl50 deep ante for 16hs straight.
Then life got in the way and i couldn't keep the balance. Lots of partying, got a friend from my town to come live as my roomate and we're both disc jockeys as a serious hobby... well, guess you get the picture.
For the following year and a half I played just to get by and enjoy the lifestyle. Very little volume, very little saving or even bankroll increasement after cashouts. Inevitable big downswing hits and i'm forced to move down to nl50 (100bi though, brm I did right).
After the apartament's contract was up i decided to go back to my parent's, actually grinded for a couple months and rushed back to the big city :P. Things haven't exactly been getting cheaper in my country lately, and rentals are definitely not the exception. Rushed to a tiny 1 room appartment just to get out of my town. Got sick of it after 4 months. Back at my parent's...
And that's where this blog starts. Time to write the best part of the story =)
