Obv standard spot but losing that amount of money in one hand made me feel so uneasy and I definitely played worse (and lost even more money) as a result of losing that flip.


I know that downswings are simply part of the game and we shouldn't think of losing sessions as just the opposite of successful/winning sessions, but part of the journey towards the success/money that comes from being a good poker player.

^^^^ It's such a shame that I wasn't able to inject that logic as soon as the hand was over, which I am sure would have prevented me from tilting in other spots. Something I definitely must work on in future.

Sleep schedule is rekt. So the plan is to grind through the night and then I'll write up the blog post about the side hustle in the morning/early afternoon before I go to bed. I'll just write up a big post on my wordpress blog and keep it to a brief post on here because the side hustle has nothing to do with poker and I want to keep this thread about my poker progress.

My side hustle is matched betting

Basically, I just extract free bets from bookies for guaranteed profit. And if you're based in the UK/Ireland then you can too!


I wrote a blog about it on pgcraig.com but you guys are probably all winning poker players so my advice to you would be to just sign up to any matched betting site and I'm sure you'll figure it out yourselves very quickly. I use Profitaccumulator but there are other sites that provide an almost identical product for the same price.

I wouldn't recommend this if you're a midtakes crusher and making somewhere in the region of £1000/month for 1 hour of work/day isn't too appealing, but for us plebs it's a really good way to make up for the inevitable downswing periods coupled with the lack of rakeback in the games these days.


I started matched betting at the end of March, but only started taking it more seriously when I added it to my daily routine halfway through May.

Results so far:




I really hope I can get to £10000 for the year, but because I missed out on the first 4 months of the year I think I will finish around the £8000-£9000 mark.

I think we have the laxest gambling laws in Europe? May have something to do with gambling winnings not being tax free in a lot of countries outside of the UK.

Cool bro. It may look a bit complicated when you first start watching the video tutorials, but after time, just like in poker, the fundamentals of how to do matched betting will eventually just click and then you can generate profit from these offers quick and easy.



I forgot to mention on here and on my wordpress blog there are +ev casino offers that you can do as well. PA do a really good job of explaining how to do the offer, the EV of the offer and anything else you may need to know.

They always recommend using the lowest stakes possible to lower varience, but I personally like using ~£2 spins. There's no difference in a slots RTP% for using higher stakes but it's more fun to hit a nice win every once in a while and I don't mind the occasional ~£150 downswing that comes along with that.







I would obviously strongly recommend staying away from the offers that are not risk free if you don't trust yourself to remain disciplined. You need to be sure never to and start chasing loses on -EV games. But you guys are all poker players, so I would think you guys can understand and tolerate the variance in these games more than your average mug punter.


The ceiling for matched betting is lower than poker as there is only a X amount of free bets and other promotions you can take advantage of, but I absolutely believe anyone can make over £1000/month matched betting if they spend some time watching their tutorial videos, read and post in their forums and stick to a routine of doing it for 45 mins to an hour everyday.


That will probably be my last post on here about matched betting/my current side hustle. Like I said earlier I am happy to answer any questions you may have either on here or in private messages. But I would like to get back to poker itt.

I always locked in asap, I’m fairly sure someone did some research into it on PA and found it to be the highest EV. That said, I’d be 15-20k richer if I hadn’t locked in as I ran pretty god damn badly with it haha.

I don’t mind the flop bet with TT but it’s way too strong to bluff turn with. Just check turn, realise your equity and fold vs a river bet

Didn't play much yesterday as I was feeling a bit down. Watched this really good video by Mike Vacanti and I'm feeling so much better.

I did this kind of stuff as well but eventually a bad habit started to form where on some days i kinda felt doing nothing, even tho i had planned some productive activities, and pushed everything on the next day so i would have about 2x stuff to do. Consistency is the key.


Also i would recommend habit loop tracker app for the phone. So easy to use and can track visually your record.

Quite awkward spot vs a reg and a whale otb. No idea what the best thing to do on the turn is.

Played really badly during my first session but I'm really happy with how I played in the second half of the day yesterday. Ended in a winning day after being down over $600 which is nice, but the most important thing is how much better I was playing after I was stuck so much in the first session.
