It is in part due to variance/run bad, but definitely I'm not giving my full focus when playing throughout most of the sessions. Hopefully tomorrow after seeing The Grinch, eating some nice Japanese food and getting another rabies jag will be a real "shot in the arm" (sorry) for my poker results.

I use a short stack strat for PLO. Not sure how well it will work for holdem. In holdem I think its better to be deep stacked so you can play more hands and out play people post flop more often. Just my 2 cents though. I forgot the players name but there was one that made over a million I know of ss in holdem back in the day. .
Thanks, mate.
I definitely will not be short staking. I'm on a ~10 buy in downswing here. It's not something out of the ordinary and certainly not something that will ever make me think about short staking
Took the day off yesterday, and I'm feeling better about poker already. Sometimes when you feel like you're struggling to book a win a little break and just enjoy life can go a long way for your happiness/well-being. It's also just good to spend time on other things as it's very possible to allow poker to consume your life if you're not actively trying to have some life balance.
I didn't think The Grinch was too great though fwiw. I absolute love Jim Carrey's Grinch and BC's Grinch is nowhere near as funny or entertaining while on screen imo. The animation itself was well done though.
I ran some spots through PIO last night and I'm feeling better about some of the big mistakes I've made over the weekend now that I have a much better idea how to play them optimally. I'm also going to try a lot harder to focus on the smaller pots I'm involved in. It's easy to think you just play them passively and not give up too much EV but obviously over the long term misplaying a lot of these small pots will have a big impact on overall wr.

Good thread.
Vs fish on btn and reg in bb. Couldn't decide whether to call or shove the river. Reg never calls worse and might have better. Fish never has better and might fold some flushes vs a jam and might overcall hands even weaker than a flush.

I've doing a lot of off-table work but procrastinating on playing. Being on a bad sleep schedule and having to grind at off-peak times probably has something to do with it but I just feel so deflated and uncomfortable every time I log into the client. Does anyone else feel like that? Been very tough for me to overcome at different points throughout the years in my poker career, but I feel it now more than ever.
Every time I start playing I can't help myself but to bring up YouTube to distract my mind while I playing. My level of focus whilst playing and even desire to play is so low right now and I have no idea what's causing it. It's the same with German learning too. Each day I'm just putting in the bare minimum to keep up my streak on Duolingo instead of getting in the lab and putting in a solid hour of work into it. I hope I can flip this very undesirable mindset I seem to be trapped in sooner rather than later.
Ran it through pio and it says I should shut down KJ here and only continue to bluff 78 and JTo with a diamond.

I think this is a problem for any poker player and ultimately any entrepreneur too, just some don't talk about it to keep portraying their mega motivated boss image.
There are a few things I have found helped:
1.) Be part of a community. This is the number one thing for me and ultimately why it's easier to put in 50 hours a week in a real job than working for yourself. There are other people around you to share the pain, and hold you accountable. With poker it is really easy to just kind of drift. I am lucky that bitbcash basically ensures I am constantly talking to other players and have an inbuilt support network, but before I found skype groups, and twoplustwo back in the day a big help.
2.) Accept it is hard - set smaller short term goals to help you get through it. EG for me, when I am at peak motivation, 5k hands a day is doable. When I'm in the kind of slump you seem to be in, it's just not feasible and if I tell myself I should be playing 5k hands a day I'll just give up as soon as I start. Reducing the goal to '2.5k hands each day this week' makes it easier to force yourself through it without beating yourself up.
3.) Health and fitness - goes without saying, diet, gym, sleep.
4.) Reduce exposure to computer outside of poker, don't spend too much time on twoplustwo (lol), or any of the other nonsense that the internet offers you.
5.) Physically remove distractions. EG/ for diet, the only way I can reduce my sugar intake is to literally not buy chocolate. For productivity, if I have an Xbox I will play 15 hours of Fifa a week. Only solution is to not own one. Momentum and StayFocused help with Chrome.
Hopefully some of the above is useful. It's definitely something I have given a lot of thought and struggled with myself, so you definitely aren't alone.
I have taken a screenshot of your whole post and I'll go back and reread it again and again because it is excellent.

Calling it a month.
Profit Accumulator results:
I thought I was going to have a really productive November, but my emotions got the better of me. I'm glad the wr was strong even though volume wasn't too great. Hoping for a bigger volume month in December, which may be a bit of a challenge given that it's the holiday season, I'll need to get everything into place for my move to SEA in January and because my 365 days of sobriety challenge will be completed on the 13th of December. I still think playing 60,000+ hands will be very doable though.

Absolutely delighted to hear this mate! Hope you continue making some nice, easy £££ in December.

40000k reg table hands might be fine @ 400-1k. @ 100nl + 200nl it's pretty bad.
Dream vs monster whale. I think my sizing was too big as I'm going to free roll the regs 67 no matter what anyway. Although I think 54 and 53 are some pretty likely hands for the reg to have folded lol
