Thank you for the advice guys. I am a noob and really appreciate it.

Is raising the flop so bad with it being three way there or would you call there please?

(The reason I put reads and stuff on is so that you can help me learn stuff like you just did. I am not afraid of looking stupid!)

Thx guys.

Actually, I think its ok, he was calling all sorts too. I did not give you a good read there (but was not meant to be a strat hand).

I really appreciate your comments though as I would probably not have made that adjustment if he was not calling loads anyway!

Is flop bad though with the SB in the hand still. My thought was that he was very strong to bet into the fish and me and would struggle to fold.

TY! I just Googled "globogym" and I am still not sure what it means!! I do train quite hard but the only equipment I really use are a jump rope and a kick/punch bag!

I will update goals 1 & 2 shortly and the next post will be regarding goal 3 (topic work) the small article I have written on stealing from the button. I used a few video resources and books I have.

Stealing From The Button

Our opening average will be at its widest on the button.
It can vary from around 25% versus tough aggressive players (think about leaving this table!) to 100% versus passive fish.
Use HUD to look at BOTH villains fold to steal stats from SB and BB.
It is very important to look at the stats of BOTH players (I have been guilty of overestimating fold equity here due to bad maths [see below] and possibly my stint at heads-up ).

My "standard" opening size on the button lately has been 2.5bb.
The simplified formula for break even point is BE = Risk/(Risk+Reward).
I risk 2.5bb to win 1.5bb (the small and big blind).
So for me it is BE = 2.5/(2.5+1.5) = 0.625 = 62.5%.
So, I need the blinds to fold a combined 62.5% of the time for me to break even opening to 2.5bb and this ASSUMES NO POSTFLOP PLAY!!!
(Btw, a 2bb open requires 57.14% folds and a 3x open requires 66.7% folds).
To find out how much the blinds are folding we multiply their fold to steal stats together. So, for example, if SB is folding 80% and BB is folding 75% we do 0.8 x 0.75 = 0.6 = 60%.
I have been guilty of not doing this multiplication and assuming they will fold a lot more than the figures suggest!!

How much we can vary our opening average from the break even success figure (and with what cards to do it with) depends on a lot of things...
For example, if we have a player who calls in the blinds preflop a lot but then plays too fit or fold on the flop we can open 100% and cbet lots of flops(remember to consider the other player too though!!).
If we have a player who is just a massive station then we can keep our range wide and weighted to high cards and take them to valuetown!
If our villain 3 bets a lot (they steal OUR equity) we should tighten up a little and maybe open for a min raise, this means we can call some 3 bets and play with position with a decent SPR.
Be aware of short stacks, they usually play 3b or fold so open for a min raise again.
Always remember we will have the advantage of being in position postflop.

REALISE WHERE YOUR PROFIT COMES FROM!!!!

Did anybody read my little article there? Would love feedback if so please? Negative or positive of course.

Well today I feel like an idiot! I did not do my forum work yesterday. I will not make excuses as I hate them, excuses are for losers. Today I will post 5 hands to make up for it.

Training was cut short at 5.00 this morning as my son woke up crying like crazy! Teeth coming through and it is very hot here lately so I will let him off . At least he let me get some hands in (plus I ran ok!)...

The next topic should be about blind defence imo, it's an area where many people struggle a lot. Looking at your winnings by position i am not sure, but it could be that you're losing from the SB too much (i can't check my results atm to compare).

Hand 2: c/r OTF and get it in, you have so much fold equity+pot equity, we don't mind folds and if called we are in good shape
Hand 3: just start with a cbet, if he folds it's ok. When he call you, he has something so if we bet again OTT and get called we are propably behind and must c/f OTR. So it's better to check OTT and reevaluate if he checks he can have a mid pair so a small vb bet OTR would be good. If he bet's we it's close, but we could call and c/f OTR, he will not bluff, because he's a nit and folds to cbets a lot.
Hand 4: It's an ok open, cbet is also fine i would make it to 0.6$ because 2 players are involved. OTT the bet is mandatory, but make it bigger. It's unlikely that he has a better flush, since it's a backdoor. He could also overplay here 2 pairs, sets and QT, so shoving is best.

Yh, you are second person to say this. I will do this I think. Not sure I have many resources on this but will get to work on that! Where there is a will there is a way! Need to find out what is decent win rate from blinds too.

July Goals Updates

Goal 1 - Volume (20,000 hands for July)
Well due to my heavy work schedule this is now going to be a problem! Worked on houses until 9.30 last night and its 30 degrees here so killing me (14 hour day at work). I was up at 4.45 this morning and trained for 40 minutes or so. Managed to get 500 hands in but played crap and ran crap (card dead). Volume for July to date = 10,576 (52.9%)

Goal 2 - Forum Work
My Hand #1 - TP2K gets donked into (80% psb) (BPC)
My Hand #2 - BvB KJo gets 3b OOP
My hand #3 - TPTK jammed on on blank turn by shortie (BPC)

Goal 3 - Topic work
Seems I need to work on my blind play. I actually think my very basic game needs work but hopefully that is getting worked on by posting my crap play in hands!
So, if anyone has any good literature/media on blind play then please help me out!!? Even to point me in the direction of good stuff to buy etc. TY.

Hand 1: an easy fold OTF, he plays 67/0 over 114 hands and pots OTF, alarm bells should be ringing.
Hand 2:if it were a normal size raise, then i would 4b or fold, given the good odds i don't mid a call. We can flop a pair and get to showdown cheap. Flop and turn is fine, OTR it's tricky, but i lean towards a fold, because he bets much larger then befor and Ax is often in his range and he woulnd't bluff often enough.
Hand 3: cbet size is good given the stack sizes. We don't have any reads, we only know he is fishy, it makes no sense for him to bet here. If we assume he isn't bluffing with such a line, it's still an call imo, because he can show up with worse Jx quite often.

I just want to give an example of a badly played hand this morning...

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

MP: $12.59 (VPIP: 38.00, PFR: 23.23, 3Bet Preflop: 2.86, Hands: 102)
CO: $39.90 (VPIP: 38.33, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 61)
BTN: $32.37 (VPIP: 21.05, PFR: 15.79, 3Bet Preflop: 4.76, Hands: 98)
SB: $25.00 (VPIP: 19.38, PFR: 14.73, 3Bet Preflop: 5.77, Hands: 132)
BB: $19.89 (VPIP: 23.81, PFR: 5.95, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 85)
Hero (UTG): $25.00

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has K K

Hero raises to $0.80, fold, fold, fold, fold, BB calls $0.55
BB is a massive station postflop. I want to open bigger than my usual 3x but I only increased by $0.05c - what a plonker!!

Flop: ($1.70, 2 players) J 6 4
BB checks, Hero bets $0.80, BB calls $0.80
This is totally ridiculous! Versus this guy I can go pot/pot/pot. Am I disgusted with myself!

Turn: ($3.30, 2 players) 8
BB checks, Hero bets $2.30, BB calls $2.30
Again it has to be bigger!!!!!

River: ($7.90, 2 players) 5
BB checks, Hero bets $3.80, BB calls $3.80
The guy is just not folding!!!! What the hell is wrong with me here!!!!!!??????

Hero shows K K (One Pair, Kings) (Pre 81%, Flop 78%, Turn 89%)
BB mucks 9 J (One Pair, Jacks) (Pre 19%, Flop 22%, Turn 11%)
Hero wins $14.80 - This should read "Hero is an idiot for not stacking the fish!!!!

I've been slacking off this month and together with playing fewer tables (usually play 9), only playing 4 while taking this shot and I'm already about to hit 20k hands without trying.. 20k is def not enough work (I'm telling this to myself as well). If you're working hard 100k should be a good number to target

Yup By raising OTF we don't acomplish anything and folding is not an option yet, so calling is best. OTT i would call again, since he can have worse and we have a redraw to the K high flush. If we miss and he fires big again it's a fold.
