Challenge is to start at 600€ and build it up.

Bankroll management we will use is as follows:

30BI at NL20-NL50
40BI at NL100
40BI at NL200
50BI at NL400+

There will be no deposit or transfers allowed. If it means I have to move down to NL4, I will! Updating from time to time here in my progress and of course you guys joining discussions is allowed. Let the SPEW begin!

I'll also use this challenge to update things so you guys know what has been going on!

I just got back from a 2 week vacation in which we took a 1 week cruise into the Caribbean.

We travelled to 4 islands and fell in love with Sint Maarten.

I'm in the process of purchasing a 2br Penthouse down there!

This is where my new grinding setup will be!

It's a 100sqM terrace!

If anyone wants to visit you can give me a shout! I'll update everyone once it's finalized!!!! So excited!!!

I'm going to try to get 35-50k hands in a month but it's probably an unrealistic goal considering how much work I do away from grinding.

Here are a few hands against one my students. He'll be reading this and laughing.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55f2392dd390438b1d8b459f

I think I managed to overbet about 20 times in the first 600 hands I've played at 20nl. This might just be due to them not having reads on me.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55f239ead3904333178b45c2

Did I mention that there will be some major spewing going on?

BR at 660€ and I will try to make a serious effort into grinding these stakes which I often spew too much.

If anyone wants to ask questions, feel free to add me.

Some interesting hands.

Bankroll sits at 700€ after 2k hands.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55f3b92dd390431b268b4603

Tilts the reg when you can snapcall river. 25nl regs tilt so fast. I think I had 40% 3b vs him over 3 tables.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55f3ba09d39043301d8b4594

Nit raises my cb... Let the spew begin! My story makes a lot of sense to the average 25nl guys.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55f3bad6d39043265a8b457a

Hero call.

To be honest I don't like grinding these stakes it's kind of hard to sit and play for these stakes and the adjustments are not as easy as I thought it would be. Players are doing all sorts of weird things at the tables which don't make any sense. On the bright side is that I can understand better and help some of my students who are playing 25nl.

What's your poker history? You seem to imply that you normally play much higher than $25 NL?

Unfortunate event for this reg.

Thanks guys! I really didn't want to do this challenge but it's always good to show my current students that I DO know how to beat the games even though I'm not grinding as much as I used to. Variance is always nice once it's on your side but it's a long challenge and 6 months should be a good motivation to get to midstakes from this starting bankroll.

Clashed heads with a lot of students. My head is always bigger and harder. I won't be posting those hands though.

Will be waiting for this downswing to come so we'll see how we manage to deal with it. If it doesn't hit soon then we'll be able to start 50nl grind very soon.

BR sits at 970€ and we won't move up until another 530€.

At least he was willing to sit with me. He also caused most of the running below EV. Some guys just have all the luck.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/55fad333d390437d1c8b492b

Fun hand. I gave this guy the daily special on the turn. Ofcourse you can never fold a straight flush draw.

Bankroll sits at 898€ including all the bonuses so we are still in great shape after 5k hands! EV winrate is at 16bb and I'm running slightly above EV at 21bb!

I typed, "Pwned!"

Again, Phil Ivey got Phil Ivey'd.

Don't know how to extract more than playing this way. Maybe overbet river is better.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/5602e6c3d39043c00f8b4784

Sheetz, this board is so scary. Sure, ALL IN!

Good luck and I'll try to update if I play but I'm not sure if I'll even do 2k more hands before the end of the week if I'm lucky. Let's just put it this way, I'm running better at my regular stakes than in this challenge.

Update for the challenge:

Bankroll now sits at €1,080 and we are going to move up in €420.

Grind hard, and CRUSH 'em! If you are playing at my tables, get out of the way!!!!!

@koskosmo - Thanks! Hope you stick around for more fun!

Some people are wondering how I'm playing at 25nl and what are my stats.

VPIP - 33
PFR - 28
3b - 15

If there is anything else you guys want to know you can feel free to add me to discuss!

Update this week's grind so far hasn't been optimal but what can you do. One thing I started to notice is the rake is huge at these stakes so maybe playing looser isn't the best idea. It is so much more fun though at these stakes. Now spewing a lot but still managing to pull EV 7bb winrate.

Thankfully there's rakeback because the bankroll keeps growing!

So this is how you use dynamics.

This villian 24/14/8 just bets too wide. This isn't a usual play but I think I still value raise a lot of 9x as well as PP's I will play the same way.

Great! He thinks I'm crazy!?!?!?!?!? Mission 1 accomplished.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/56054d87d390433c268b473d

Mission 2, now just wait for him to fall into our trap. Boom! Lesson 1 for him, never take BrokeSoBroke's money... Because I always get it back...

One of the worst regs on Microgaming. I love the guy for his play style which I wish there were more regs like this in midstakes. If you know him, tell him to contact me and I'll show him a few things.

Bankroll now sits at €1200 which is double of the initial bankroll. Another €300 and we'll be good to go!

@chicksandpoker - Yeah the island is beautiful! For investment purposes I'm not so sure it's the best way to go. BUT I'm sure I'll be very happy! If anyone goes to the island, they should check out Maho beach and watch planes landing right over your head. Scary but it's a crazy experience.

I guess we're almost finished 2 weeks of the challenge. I'm expecting my volume to go up once I get to 50nl but for now we are inching closer and closer.

It's embarrassing running above EV but for the people who don't know the story...

This was one half of 2012. The second half I was 100bi below EV as well. It was the best year of my life! 220bi below EV and this was the eventual turning point in my poker career!

Nothing tilts me now. I can show anyone how to over come tilt!?!?!?!?!?

Hello Everyone!

So I finished last week (Week 2) of challenge and was able to play 10k hands.

My overall thoughts is... 20-25NL is pretty soft and not sure why people are struggling. It's a stake where I never played seriously, but only coach people. What have I learned? Playing against microstakes players takes on a whole new challenge. Why is it a challenge you ask? BECAUSE EVERYONE THINKS THEY ARE PHIL IVEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The odd time they will make your life miserable because of this type of thinking and pulling lines out of nowhere. In general you should be able to crush them because they make too many mistakes. The nits are too nitty and the lags are too laggy.

Running good really helps. To be honest. I was expecting to win at 7-8bb at best at 20nl because of the rake. So the toughest part was getting out of 20nl.

Bankroll now sits at 1480€ which is one BI shy of moving up to 50nl. As far as challenge go, I will stick to BRM and not move up. When I move up I will use 4BI BRM. Then move down. Although with the 10% I cleared of the 500e bonus I have more than enough to play 50nl.

Some hands that might interest you.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/560e6d48d39043f9628b476e

So for this challenge I've been playing 34/29/16... You should see these guys trying hard to make adjustments vs me. Too hard.

https://www.weaktight.com/h/560e6f77d3904317578b474b

Basically... The best strategy for 25nl is just bluff your way through it... This isn't 2008 anymore where the way to get through microstakes is to play ABC poker and just wait anymore!
