My name is Tyler Boyd and I am a 24 year old Samoan/Australian & I am inviting you all to come along for my journey on the way to success in every kind of way!
I have just lost my job due to the company entering voluntary administration and ceasing to exist leaving me without a job and steady income

After much discussion with my partner going through our options we have agreed that I will be playing online full time and making this happen! My partner also quit her job, after months of me saying she should, a few months back so she could chase her dream and I was more than surprised & extremely excited when she encouraged me to pursue mine of being a poker PRO! So here we are, 2 unemployed individuals raising 2 beautiful children and not once in the few weeks since, have we struggled for anything We are still both receiving income for rent, food and other callings of life like school fees and such for the kids so it's not like we are sending them off to school in potato sacks with mushed up leaf sandwiches so we haven't sacrificed the quality of our living to chase our dreams...

I was introduced to poker when I was 16 watching some WPT on foxtel and got superhooked. Played online play money but stopped after a year or so. Fast forward to 2015 and I got an email from 888 giving me $5 because I hadn't played in years so I ran it up to around $2K in a few weeks, obviously running insanely hot and using no BRM whatsoever so inevitably I quickly lost it and became determined to learn the game properly and give myself a chance to run it back up. Ever since then I have been chasing learning material and trying to became the greatest online name in Australia!

So today I had a pretty regular day
physical training (mainly plyometrics) some meditation & visulation, study (3 bet pots OOP) & finally a session! Now the session didn't quite go as well as I had initially planned. I bricked all MTT's and lost a 185bb pot on the cash felt (will post hand soon)...
Overall was a good day and looking forward to coming back tomorrow to smash it!

Also has anyone here purchased Bencb987's MTT Masterclass? I have been looking at a bit of his free yout8ube content and like his thought process. Very interested to hear about it as I am now going to invest in the course.

So you have made no money playing poker and you plan to make 100k this year? And win a bracelet? What makes you think this is possible and what is your plan to do this?

Interesting life situation. Subbed. I was never able to make this choice when I was forced to either take up poker full time or focus on my current daily job. I chose my job.

You said you still receive income for your rent, etc etc. What is the source if I may?

I should also have added get a job and do this on the side man. You are either leaving a lot out or you have no idea how hard what you are aiming for is going to be.

I fully believe that I WILL be able to do this because of 3 things
1. I have proven, to myself, that I can make money in poker and am a winning player through study and practice
2. I work insanely hard and am very determined to become the greatest NLHE player alive
3. I BELIEVE I CAN

Also not really leaving anything out. Perhaps I do underestimate the challenge but I am prepared to make the necessary changes. Feel free to keep the feedback coming, but I only ask that we keep this thread as positive as possible and not look down on my goals simply because you have limiting beliefs about what is and isn't possible...
If it comes down to it, I have job offers I am happy to take on a casual basis but until then I will be crushing my goals lifetime, yearly and daily!

My amazing partner currently has paying clients for life coaching & reiki healing which is going magnificently for her and we also get generous government payments for most other things, house payments mainly, so life is staying the same, besides missing the old wad of fun spending money on treats and activities, for now.

Just got home from basketball, stretched out and I'm feeling great!
Today wasn't a very poker heavy day, mainly studied push fold stuff in Icmizer, which is definitely one of my weaker parts of MTTs. Also realising I never said whether i play cash or MTTs... I play both but mainly MTTs. I mainly started cash games so I could deepen myu knowledge post flop and ended up falling in love with them! I'll usually sit 3-4 MTTs and load 2-4 cash tables.

I will be back tomorrow to let everyone know how great my session goes tomorrow and throw in some hands, FINALLY!

Ahh I understand @sweetswing, I have over the 95k hands I had on PS my winrate was around 5bb/100 and have only just realised that I can use PT4 in ACR, don't know how this took so long, so will be exporting all HH so I can go over winrates and such in ACR. Appreciate the well wishes & am already missing the extra spending cash Lol so may just take up one of the casual jobs on the side over the next week or 2

@preki I play mainly $15 and below MTTs on ACR and Ignition... I have no doubt that with the 49 extra hours weekly I now have available, that I will have next to no trouble moving up consistently over the next 3 lots of 3 months

How much cash are you playing? Do you realise how difficult/impossible it is to support a family playing $10 ABI MTTs? 95k hands of cash lifetime? What stake?

Where abouts in AUS are you? Wish you all the best but I'd strongly reconsider what format you want to play!

@Scarecrow THANKS! Apppreciate that & in regards to outside of poker all I do is play basketball, do basketball specific plyometric training & heavy weight training at times. Hahaha no surfing for me, tried when I was a kid and didn't really dig it TBH

@meale I am playing at least 2-3 hours of cash 4 tabling & yes I do realise which is why we are not dependant on me making money for the family through poker...
Yes only 95k hands on stars, at 100NL, as I was working 5-6 days a week, basketball training, fitness training and raising 2 children. I thought I was taking poker seriously at the beginning but played only 5 hours a week until about 5-6 months ago, so I have only just begun I guess you could say.
I also live in Frankston, Victoria my man! Thank you for the well wishes and I will definitely be adjusting throughout this process.

We have a lot in common! I spent the first 10 years of my life in Frankston. I also played ball for about 10 years - used to do a lot of plyometric stuff as well (not to mention them heavy squats and deads) - gotta get that vert up amirite!?

Busted all but 2 (my only 2 $1.10 tourneys), 1 of which I only min cashed and the other ran a bit deeper, 153rd of 2507 runners, but no too much happened.

I also started a new morning habit today that consists of waking up at 7.30am and going for a run, stretching for 10-15 mins and having a ice cold shower... IT. WAS. AMAZING! Beyond not being able to breath so well in the shower I have felt great all day!

Also had a hand in a MTT today which really stumped me

Hey man,

Quick thoughts on the KK hand.
I cant ever imagine folding KK here (especially in a 1$ mtt, but also like in any mtt.)

I would also definately make a bigger 3bet squeeze, sth around the area of 3 - 3,5x.

Not that it would change sth in the specific hand, but in general your sizing was small given a raise and a call in front of you.

My opinion always with good intentions.

@Scarecrow_ Alrighty then, after the mention I do think going larger would be better but thought I would be getting a lot of calls from some smaller pairs and suited Ax hands but it is not the case in $1 tourneys seeing as after I was folded they showed J8o for sh0rtstack & KTss for Dulla Bhatti!!!!! Was a bit happier when Bhatti turned the nuts though but that one hurt ahahahahaha. Appreciate the input!
