Maybe, just maybe, it has to do with the risk involved? Not just talking about hero's history with flipping for his roll but for example his last post where he was on "monkey tilt", granted he won a load this week the point still stands.

you dont see why a backer might be worried by a tilting shot taking flipping degen, and start lower than urubu is used to play ?
If urubu can show some discipline i m sure that guy will be happy to let him play higher, and playing on a stake might save urubu from his demons.

Yeah the risk lies within the fact that his backer wouldn't be able to top him up. Not the fact that I don't know, if hero would've gotten the bankroll to play those stakes and ended up monkey tilting it away or degening it away flipping for his roll the money lost would be about 10 times more than right now.

^^Above poster is correct and it's something I stated in HSPLO recently when urubu first mentioned the staking thing.

From a results perspective urubu is a dream. I mean the man just gets it done at the mid stakes and there is still good money to be made doing that. However, there is no doubt that his history of gambling and his mindset is a nightmare for a backer, not knowing if backing will be lost and fired off whenever urubu is feeling tilted etc.

However the fact that his backer is already advocating for him to move up suggest that the starting at 1/2 was likely a system to let him get his feet back in the water before tackling the slightly tougher games.

You guys know that backers are investors and investments have risks.

Removing all the risks and all you have is a high interest loan which is illegal offline.

starting him at anything under 70% @ 1/2 is scammy as hell if he has to grind the roll for the higher limits

- well , im trying focus max possible and play very concentrate, even more than when i was playing on my own. (its true, im not saying this because my backer read this thread) i know i shouldn't play tilted when playing staked, im trying dont play tilted, but....
by the way, my backer is very nice on this area. he gave some solid advice... and suggest to read one book. yesterday i sent him printscreen w my hud stats (50% vpip, 30% 3bet on some tables) and i thought he would say something like ''ok, go back to 1/2. '' or after seeing that KQ42 hand, ''send me back winnings, play w small roll you ******ed monkey'', but instead of that, he said i should decide if i want play 1/2 or 2/4 today. it was very nice. today i choose to play 1/2 (played lots of 0.5/1 too because not many 1/2 running and i dont like zoom).


- no, off course theres lots of players better than me at 400-1k plo.

- i dont think its possible to know who is the best player at poker, luck is very important and you never know if someone is good or very luck. i will answer durrrr because he play highstakes and i like him.
