Right, this is me. Vegasmidas.
You've probably heard of me.
I play poker on pokerstars, and some people genuinely believe that i don't suck.

I am really bad at writing things that comply with the general standards, but luckily this is 2p2, so any notion of general standards thankfully doesn't apply.

ABOUT ME

I am 40ish years old (I won't disclose my exact age, which i'd advise you to stop doing also once you've surpassed 35ish), and i own 2 dogs, named Yin and Yang.
I've been a musician for most of my life, but playing for blinds that exceed the expected hourly rate of 98% of musicians is preferable, so that's what i got myself into around 10 years ago now (Man, long time!).

Contrary to other people, i didn't have the time nor the mental energy to concentrate on poker full time, and i didn't have a young man's hybris and/or ADD to get myself to the top quickly, so i stayed at the bottom for quite a while.

My breakthrough came around 4 years ago. I was talking to Zaza regularly at that time, cause we both sucked equally, and we both had the biggest in-game leaks and mental game leaks that you can imagine.
I couldn't look at a pocket pair without jamming it in against a 4bet (the bigger the stack the better, cause that increases fold-equity), and don't even ask me about what he was doing back then (nope, won't tell. It hasn't changed much, anyway. Idk how he frikkin plays nl2k nowadays).

The deep-ante tables on stars were absolutely perfect for a man of my abilities. My opponents were so much more spewy than me that my strategies worked for the first time, and i suddenly had a great winrate.
Yep, sometimes that's all it takes.

After that, i am not sure what i did all day. I guess i played poker, i guess i played some music in some pubs as well (I used to live in Dublin, but i am not irish.). Now, i can play up to no limit 2k on pokerstars, and pot limit 2k (omaha) on the same site. I suck at table selection, so you'll find me playing 500zoom a lot, cause that's easy.

So, now you see my excellent writing skills and subtle sense of humor, and ask yourself: Why doesn't this guy just become a writer (like that dude J.K. Rowling)?

I play poker.
I am staying at a secret location with some fellow grinders right now, and i've been losing since i got here.
I wanna change that.
Thus, i write a blog.
Good riddance.
Good Karma.
Good bye.

In. Glgl.

You focusing more on NL or PL at the moment? Feel like I've seen way less of you in the zoom pools recently (this is a good thing).

First update.
Let's address the replies that i got first:

Klever - I got a feeling that i know who you are. You get a cookie for first comment, welcome to the club!

pontylad - Doood, nice to hear from you I'll refrain from insulting you in this blog, but i'll probably insult everybody else.

BigAisaOK - I have no clue who you are, but from what you're saying it seems like i should know, shouldn't i? Maybe the list of people that i win big money from is just too long..

Magerkwark - You'll be the main target in this blog if you keep making comments like that. Maybe you look like a rat and stink?

Kangal_ - A question! My answer is this: probably fifty fifty. I've been playing weird hours cause of time zones as well though.

Alright, let's get to the poker.
I will post in the following manner:
I'll never post results. A session is simply "SESSION". I'll comment on pre-session and post-session, i might post hands (that would be post-session), but the sessions itself i won't comment on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
PRE-SESSION

Woke up. Took the two rats for a walk. Got back home, had breakfast (eggs and boiled tomatoes), had a sip of coffee.
I have been downswinging pretty hard in plo (EV-bb 4ish, winrate 0ish), and been having really good results in no limit (5ish) this year. That's the background info, that's what goes through my head before i sit down to play.
No pre-session routine, sat down and started playing a mix of 200 and 500 plo zoom.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
SESSION
---------------------------------------------------------------------

POST-SESSION

That's now. I played well, which is nice, cause it's something that i've struggled with in the last week.
I played for 91 minutes, and i don't know my results (I deleted the results-thing from my sessions-tab).
My next session will be only no limit. Probably a mix of 200 and 500 as well, though not really sure why (I haven't played 200 in ages, and it might make more sense to just play 200 only on some days, and then 500+ only on others. But we'll see).
No analysis right now, maybe i'll post some later.

Aight, another update. Let's address the posts first:

galejziooo - I will post random nuggets of information from time to time, so be patient. I am sure i can find some pictures.

real.talk - I had actually expected people to not care, cause i won't post results. Guess i was wrong. I'll do my best to provide some entertainment.

pita, avi,Mr,bird - I will excuse the repitious nature of your posts and say "aight" from the bottom of my heart.

Let's get to the poker:

--------------------------------------------------------
PRE-SESSION:

I wanted to play. I don't even remember what i did all day. I just know that i wanted to play, and that i was gonna listen to myself and not mix 200 and 500. I felt excellent about the earlier session.
I don't even remember what i did all day.
Right. I remember now. I made a soup.

Anyway, i wanted to play, so i sat down next to my finnish grind-buddy and started playing.

--------------------------------------------------------
SESSION
--------------------------------------------------------

POST-SESSION:

No clue about results. I think i played better than it seemed to me while playing. Right after the session i checked my skrill and neteller cause i felt like i don't have much money anymore (subconsciously i must think that i lost, and consciously i also think that i lost), but i guess i'll be able to survive for a couple of months.
I don't even remember what i did all day.
I watched the first game of thrones episode with a black guy. Pretty sure.

Anyway, back to the poker.
I can't find a single interesting hand for the life of me.

OK i ended up finding one. If he somehow calls (or folds) based on blockers then my pair outs are surprisingly live against his calling range on the turn. That's why i jammed. If he doesn't then i think checking turn might be best.
I think it's likely that checking flop is best anyway, but i was in an aggro mood today.

      Speaking of aggro moods...
      • I think his cbet range is too playability-heavy, which means that my turn raise gets me more protection than it should
      • (which it would also if i raised AcJ,Ac5 and even KcT. I am basically saying that he bets turn with too many draws).
      • I'll be bluffing river against some worse hands, which kinda sucks, but the good news is that i'll also bluff against lots of better hands.
      • Could i have waited for Acx? Absolutely.
      • Should i have done that? Absolutely!
      • I think the Ac might be checking back flop quite a bit (he is in the CO after all), so a club river is very bluffable.
I also like the T tho, it looks so credible. He slowrolled the **** out of me in this hand (I refuse to believe that zoom-players can fold a flush).

(I formatted the above paragraph for your viewing pleasure.)
I watched the first game of thrones episode with a black guy. Pretty sure.
I know there is no black guy in that episode. I meant the black guy watched it with me.

You know, blogging is quite a bit of work. I'll take the day off tomorrow.

I was analyzing the A6 hand just now (Sometimes i need to show myself how much i lose per hand when i spew), and i think the right kind of hand to make this play is anywhere between Ac3 and 7c7. A6 is just a fold (surprise!).

Let me guess: You would have check folded A6 on the turn anyway, and you're just surprised that i didn't?
