Hi all my name's Ryan been playing poker for several years definitely an overall loser at the game and definitely have a lot to learn, having said that I certainly know a lot more than I did and know there are many other aspects to why I am a losing player and not just the fact that I'm bad at the game .As someone once said anybody can be a winning poker player even if they are really bad as long as they find a seat at a table where the players are worse ..
Other aspects I believe have made me into a losing player
Poor bankroll management
Poor game selection
Poor motivation especially when things don't go to plan .
Poor study ethic , I rarely take a hand I have played an really look into it to see the best way to play it .
Poor note taking
Playing on my phone way to much
Smoking way too much while I play ,I would like to stop all together at least while I'm at the virtual tables my observations and memory is like a fish when im under the influence. I once sat at a table in a tourney next to a close friend, 30 minutes went by till either of us noticed:0 :0 :0 (long time ago but still )
Last but not least I'm terribly results orientated It's been known in the past for me to have a good run (day or 2) at the tables and be ready to quit a job because I feel I have it cracked !!
At the opposite end I've thrown away decent bankrolls that I've been grinding for months just because I have 2 losing days in a row an feel like I'm the worse player ever at which point may I add I tend to move up in stakes !!

Having said all that above what I'm about to say next will probably surprise all and is probably not one of my better ideas .

As it stands I have $300 on partypoker

I'm going try an play minimum 2 hrs of poker each day smoke free .I'm also going to mix my games up each day too I'll be playing cash games plo 0.05/0.10
Cash games holdem 0.05/0.10
Sit n go stt around $5
I'm also going to put $25 onto stars as I've enjoyed playing there 4 man heads up also will try the 32 man's.
Then on Sundays I'm going to play satellites and mtts but I'm going to do this with a very strict brm as this is where I lose most my money playing games I shouldn't.

Im will be playing a different format each day and will post at least the results if nothing else . All of this could change within a couple of weeks as I might see that I'm throwing money away in plo but crushing heads up in which case I will adjust to what works or at least study more in those areas .

I will be starting this Saturday but wanted to do the intro now so I'm all set to post my first results the good the bad and the ugly .

Things got started at little earlier as my lad went down for an unexpected nap today at 9 am, he was jumping all over us this morn at 4am so I'm that surprised, so anyway I decided to play some poker with this window .

I decided on 2 tables of holdem 0.05/0.10

Played around 250 hands in the time he was down and ended around $15 up .
My starting balance was $334 and finished $349
Not many hands played I know and not much to go off but u gotta start somewhere and seen today as the perfect opportunity.

Going to get back to it again tomorrow and try to put in at least 4/5hrs .

When I play diff formats i will be playing diff amount of tables too

PLO. 1 table for at least (I know least about this game and I need my full concentration ) may even try lower stakes to start.

Nlhe 2-4 tables I'll prob start off with 2 and add another after I'm warmed up .

Sng stt I will be playing these mostly at 4 tables I think but I have struggled before doing this when ive found myself at the end game on say 3 tables at 1 time so I'll see how it goes . .

Nlhu if I do play the heads up sng I'll have to just play 1 game at a time as I like to really try and get into the other player on these

Whoopsy!!!

Dropped a bit of a boo boo earlier ,my misses and lad went out at midday so i decided I'd get started on sum plo so I set up 2 tables of 0.05 -0.10

Starting balance was $349
And balance was $394

I was playing for around 2 hours but found myself in many situations where I was very unsure what to do .
There were spots where I was checking back the river with 2 pair then unsure if I should of bin value betting .
Then certain flops where I think I should be getting out the way .
Aces are a hand I'd like to look at a lot more as I was always under the impression to get as much in pre with aces but trouble being most flops are going to give me a lot of trouble .
I lost biggest pots with aces and won my biggest against aces .
Even tho its a tiny sample i can see i defo need to put in a lot of work ,from what I could see tho at these stakes there were people who seem to know less but that's from my uneducated eye at glance so I wanted to go into holdem manager to have a proper look .
So I decided to stop after 2 hours to go on HM and study this but to my horror I seems I only have holdem manager not Omaha manager which I defo need but it will have to wait for now .
If anybody is reading this I do have a question from today regarding br management .
So I sat at 2 tables 0.05-0.10 And within the first 30 mims I had tripled the 1 table to $30 at which point I thought to myself should I come out now an start another table with $10 banking the $20 . There was 1 other person at my table who had around $40 at the time .
I didn't do it I stayed with what I had on there but just wondered if that was the right thing to do because as my bankroll stands I wouldn't put $30 on the table to potentially lose .

Last but not least a bit later I played 4 sit n goes 2 $2.20 And 2 $5.50

Won the 2 $2.20 placed in 1 $5.50 lost the other

Starting bankroll was $394
End bankroll $405

Struggled a little on the sit n goes made some very bad decisions at times but luckily I then got lucky . Little bit rusty but something to work on I also struggled doing 4 tables when 1 table was short handed and shallow so I think I'll be doing 2 tables at a time with these as well at least for now .

Volume is tiny at the moment but I will get better and put more in just struggling with the non smoking at mo but promised myself I won't smoke an play so I'm hoping my love for poker will soon push out my love of smoking !!

Eeewww !

Lets get things moving for crying out loud !!

So not played much, sunday i was out for the fathers day thing. Then on the night ended up tooping pokerstars up $32 playing a couple of games on there whislt smoking(tut tut ) joined the hot 7.50 an satelited to the mini supersonic played alwful in both tbh and regreted playing after as was shattered when i started ..
Yesterday felt far to tired to play again but after a smoke thought oh well still avout $20 in pokerstars went in a 4 man heads up $3.50 (chose my stake by entering both an playing the first 1) came stupidily second in it as i thought i had a read on the guy an litterally went full hammer on this read calling down with second pair only to be shown a flopped 2 pair !! ( i was so sure lol ) So then obviously i went down in stakes an played another !! Domt be silly i clicked register again as quick as i could an went flying out of this as quick as i entered it !! Just logged in and $16 left so all isnt lost !!

Tonight im going to do some serious playing smoke free , putting it on here first to hopefully i stick to it . Probably going to play plo cash but we will see .

Quick 1 not much to report played 3 tables plo10 starting bankroll $400 finish bankroll $414 ..
Played not to good at all wasnt really into it kinda got into it towards the end but definately made some heavy mistakes .

Genna chill for a bit now played arohnd 2.5 hrs id like to be playing at least 4hrs a noght in the week but its something to work on i suppose .

You have so much more patience than I do, I commend you for it. Playing at stakes that low always feels like a lose-lose situation to me. If you lose, who cares, it's $20, if you win, who cares, it's $20.

Ty ,but i cant take that as i really dont, ive lost my roll sooooo many times . Thats 1 of the main reasons why im posting .
I know exactly where your coming from as i cant play 0.01/0.02 no matter what my bankroll is , im likely calling u down

Plus my knowledge of plo is far from great .

Unless u get lucky its the only way to build really from what i can see ,the less the 1 buy in means to u the less tilting it is to lose i suppose. Hopefully ill build my roll big enough where winning/losing $200 feels irrelivant.

Ill actually be "happy" when i bank a few losing days of say $10/$20 where i havnt gone crazy trying to chase a "win".

Very small loss and only really lost it towards the end but still really tilted me
Not because of the money but the players at my table now im far from great but they were terrible lol So too match there terrible play i started playing terrible myself using the excuse that i wanna be in the pot with em b4 someones else takes it .
Needless to say what i believe was the worse person at the table i gave him my money . I actual called my last $3 on a river bet where there was slim to no chance i had the best hand thats when i decided to call it a day !!

How are the players at 0.05/0.10? Are mostly really really bad or some still can play?

From what ive seen some are really really bad i mean , i think there are a good few that dont even understand the basics, like that u have to use 2 cards lol
Had a guy earlier call me close to a pot size bet on the flop and the turn with just the 9 high flush draw !!

Trouble is sometimes i then think everyone is like that and i end up calling down light when i know shouldnt .

Im still only learning too so things that i think are mistakes might not be that bad or even they might be right , but still the real bad ones do show em selfes often enough

Bad start

Decided to fire up sum 6 Max sng tables where I played horribly was terrible only played handful and had to stop as was getting worse . Think I placed 1 but should of easy placed 3 an prob win 1 of them but the mistakes i made 3 handed with massive chip lead was terrible like i was playing on scared money. Once i had lost the 2 of the ones I was well ahead in with only 3 left i started playing real bad in all others i started . I decided to stop after 1hr as was not going well and my frame of mind was bad .
Going forward next time I hit the sit n goes im going to drop down stakes for now to 2.20 s .
Misses an lad going away now so going to try an get some serious volume in over the weekend .

Weekend plan

8hrs each day min

1hr study each day

Going to start with Omaha cash i think for today see how that goes .
Might try micro stakes tourneys on Sunday see how im feeling and maybe throw in some sng when i do ..

Aiming to double my bankroll
