Yeah with the 77, it's a hand that plays extremely poorly postflop especially in a 3bet pot. You would rather 3bet 76s because it you can do some things with it post. Sizing too, in general when were OOP/in the blinds, the standard size is 4x the open, so closer to $120 is probably a little better, bigger if we're over 100 deep.

77 here is IMO quite close to a fold pre. We're in the SB so we never ever get any favourable situations after the flop that don't involve a set. Since he's isod fairly large, we probably don't have an immediately profitable set mine here. If we expect the limpers to call always, it can be better. 66 I think is a clear muck here due to RIO, 88 a clear call, once again it's very stack depth dependent

100% accurate. As I mentioned to acid, one of my reasons was that I haven't played a hand in 3-4 orbits, so I figured I may get some added respect here, while punishing the guy opening too frequently. As we both know, nobody is paying attention to how many hands you are playing so it's a bad reason to do it.

I think limiting these spews going forward is going to be something I'm really going to focus on. Thanks for the input as always, let's keep crushing over there in AU

Up and Down

Played a solid 15 hours this weekend between Friday and Saturday. Started with a short late night session on Friday night, about 3 hours. The room was quite packed this weekend with the high hand promo being 1000 an hour for most of the day.

Only played one interesting hand where I'm the BB and a maniac to my left straddled. It folds to us and we call 10 in the BB. Straddle jams for 150 and we call with A4 he has 98 and neither of us is able to make a pair and we take it down.

Saturday was a wild, swingy day where we went down almost 200bb to up 50bb to back down 100bb to even to finishing down 100bb at the end. Definitely made some mistakes that I'm going to work on (most notably calling 3 streets to a tight player who lead out the flop 5 way)

Our first interesting hands after we're stuck a bit and we check 88 in the BB after the UTG BTN and SB limped. We see a flop of 925 The SB checks and we bet 20. I don't expect many people to connect with this board so I think we can take it down a lot and barrel certain run outs. We get one call, the BTN and see a T turn. We bet 55 and the BTN calls again. The river is the Q and we throw out the triple barrel of 125. He thinks for awhile, and folds.

Next, after raising the previous two hands we limp KQ UTG. We go 5 way to a flop of QT9 it checks to us and we bet 25. it folds to the SB who raises to 75. We decide to call and see a 7 turn. He checks to us and we decide to check back. The river is the A and we have an easy fold once he bets 105.

About an hour later we raise A8 to 20 in the CO. The BTN who is a super loose aggressive rec with a 95 vpip. I've b/f 3 times to him in 1.5 hours most notably with TT on 766r. Only he calls and we see a flop of 824 we wager one green chip and he calls. The turn is the J and we check it to him. He bets 110 and we're now sick of his antics and call. The river is the 6 and we check it to him again. He quickly bets 150 and we click the call button. We're good against A9o. We're glad, but really makes us question our other folds to him....

After we had brought it back from -200 BB we get JJ in pre for 286 and lose to TT

The exact next hand we raise A Q from EP to 25. W ego to a flop 4 way of A 4 7 we bet 50 and a limp caller from EP calls. The turn is the 8 and he checks to us. We check it back and see a J river. He checks to us a third time and we bet 85 for value. He c/r to 250 and we fold. We show him the AQ and we get to see the AJ which feels a bit better.

The direct hand after that we lose some money with AK to 76 on AKQ J 8

It's not the ideal 3 hands we got, but we try to turn it around when we see AA and make it 25 over a limp from MP. A maniac (100/40) calls OTB and so does a loose passive player to our right. (95/10). We see a flop of T64 and we bet 40 when checked to us. The maniac calls and we see a 8 turn. We check to let him bet into us but he checks back. The river is the K and we bet small, 50. He thinks for a bit and makes it 275 to go. We decide to fold.

It was a rough day in the end but felt good to get in good hours this weekend.

Gl all :-)

For a fun thread update... I'll be torching some money in low stakes DFS until I feel like I've torched enough. Got the beginners run good last night though.

Any DFS pros wanna share their secrets? Who has the dream machine for this game? Been dabbling some more in some DFS fun. I think it would be cool to update one every or twice in the week with some DFS since poker is on the weekends. Made like 35 bucks last week, obv ran super hot by cashing every buy in, got some going on for tomorrow and this weekend as well.

Playing poker Sunday and Monday this weekend. Taking work off for Monday since the room will be running a sick high hand promo, giving away about 2k per hour. Got a comped room as well so won't even have to travel far.

Totally agree. The rake on these tournies is insane, in some cases (maybe all?) almost 20%. Definitely not expecting to win money long term, just looking to lose less and become as low -EV if possible if that makes sense, because they make the Sunday sweats super fun.

Currently running hot though, maybe we should quit while we're ahead two days in? lol

Long Weekend - Part I

The long weekend ended up going better as expected. We took the day off from work Monday as there was a ridiculous high hand promotion going on here in the northeast at both Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun. Here at the Sun the giveaway was $600 every 20 minutes to the highest hand. We were lucky enough to get one of these, but the games as a result were above average and we did more than well enough in that department. Played a solid 15 hours over Sunday/Monday and have a bunch of hands to go over. (Plus some chip porn :-P in part II)

Sunday:

In our first interesting hand that we played on Sunday we raise AJ OTB over one limp to 25. The limper calls and we see a flop of KAK. He checks to us and we decide to check back as this player would raise most of his Ax hands, so he has far more Kx here that has us crushed vs hands that we can get value from. The turn is the 7 and he leads for 25. We have an easy call here, and we see a 4 river bringing the fourth . The river goes check check and we lose to KQ.

The next hand we get into we open KJ from MP to 20, and the BTN and BB call. The flop is a nice K22 The BB leads out for 60 here with 120 behind. I’m not in love with this spot, and I’ve never played with her before, but we call here and the BTN folds. The turn is the 5 and she checks to us. We jam the final 120, she calls and says “Kings are good” making me think that we’re good here to QQ or JJ. The river rolls off a blank and she flips over AA. Oh, king ’s’ are good, and we muck.

Stuck about a buy in with a terrible image as we’ve just been losing small pot after small pot, we pick up KT OTB and make it 30 over two limpers. The SB and one of the limpers who is a well known reg/recfish playing 90/20 calls. He is known to play very aggressively postflop with his draws. Knowing this, we decide to call after the SB checks to him and he bets 60 on a K97 flop. The SB folds and we see a 3 on the turn. He does not stop firing, this time 100, and we call again. The river is the 7 and he quickly fires 125. We call again and are good against A4.

We manage to bring it back to even after a few more hands and are feeling good, with some solid momentum when we raise KJ to 25 in the BB after a recfish playing 99/0 limps. The flop some KKQ and he checks to us. He has about 200 behind, and with 50 in the pot we decide to check since we always have him crushed here, and let him fire with his air. He obliges, and wagers 55 after we check to him. We call, and see the 6 turn. We check again, and he fires another 55 to which we jam for his final 150 total. 30 seconds later he makes the call, so we are feeling pretty great on a brick runout. We confidently table our hand, and he shows 66 for the turned boat, for a nice little needle.

In our final hand of the day we play a 4 way limped pot with A8 OTB with the villain from hand three who is in the SB. We see a flop of A75 and it checks to us. We decide to check and get a 3 turn. One player leads out for 30, we call, and the SB check/calls as well. The river is the 9 completing our flush and the SB leads for 75. The player in the middle folds and we make it 325. V tank calls with a smaller flush, so a nice little cooler for us there.

Part II to come tonight (with some good results)

Hahah I'm still over here trying to figure out if in both hands villains are just that lol (how are they ever losing there) or if slowroll.. the 66 hand most likely slowroll as a I see the guy quite often...the AA I think v was just that lol.

Anyways, gotta just shrug it off and keep going.

Long Weekend Part II

After ending our Sunday session around 1:30 we head up to the hotel room (comped FTW) and get some rest before the long session Monday. We wake up at 8:00 ready to go, shower and are seated by 8:30.

Our first interesting hand we 3bet a CO 15 open from the BTN to 50 with ATravelling & The Live MidstakesJTravelling & The Live Midstakes despite our recent non successful attempts in the same configuration with this hand. Please see previous posts for context. Only the CO calls and the flop comes KTravelling & The Live MidstakesTTravelling & The Live Midstakes3Travelling & The Live Midstakes and its checked to us. We wager 55 and get a quick call. We see a nice ATravelling & The Live Midstakes and wager 110 this time when it's checked to us. This time the villain says 'I put you all in' and we quickly muck. Whoops, on to the next one.

Shortly after we limp 2Travelling & The Live Midstakes2Travelling & The Live Midstakes UTG, MO limps as well and the BTN makes it 25. We call and so does the other limper. We go to a lovely flop of ATravelling & The Live MidstakesTTravelling & The Live Midstakes2Travelling & The Live Midstakes. We check and unfortunately it checks through. The turn is the 6Travelling & The Live Midstakes completing the rainbow and we decide to check again. The MP player bets 70 and the original raiser folds. It gets back to us and we make it 200 to go with 236 behind effective. He thinks for 45 seconds and makes the calls. The river is the 3Travelling & The Live Midstakes and we lead for the final 236 effective. He tanks roughly for the same amount of time and decides on a call, and we're good.

Later on in the day we look down at JTravelling & The Live MidstakesTTravelling & The Live Midstakes in the SB. There is a MP limp and a guy on tilt stuck a few hundred BBs playing 95/60 makes it 25 from the CO. We make a very questionable call from the SB and the limper calls as well. We see a flop of K9Travelling & The Live Midstakes8Travelling & The Live Midstakes and it checks through. The turn is the 7Travelling & The Live Midstakes giving us the nuts. We check again and the limper bets 25. The original raiser calls and we make it 100 to go. The bettor folds and the original raiser calls. The turn is the TTravelling & The Live Midstakes. We go for a check and the villain fires just over pot, 325. We basically snap call and are good to a pair of tens.

Shortly after that the run good continues when we pick up red KTravelling & The Live MidstakesKTravelling & The Live Midstakes in UTG +1. Our neighbor who has been showing is a ton of his hands (to be fair, so are we, but he's clearly gaining less info from that than we are) makes it 15 to go from UTG. (He's made some very disciplined correct folds to mine and other people's cbets) in my 1200 hours of live and 2000+ online hours I can count on two hands the number of times I've flatted KK, but we decide to here for reasons above, and other reasons as well.

OTTH, UTG makes it 15, and we flat UTG+1. The BTN calls and we see a flop 3 way of KTravelling & The Live MidstakesQTravelling & The Live Midstakes4Travelling & The Live Midstakes. UTG continues for 35 and we raise to 100. The BTN folds and UTG 3bets to 300. We jam for 900 eff and he calls it off. The board runs out a couple of blanks, but it hardly mattered as we take it down against KQo.

In our final poker gift of the day, one of the best players in the room opens to 25 from the CO over a limper. The BTN calls, we flat in the SB with 2Travelling & The Live Midstakes2Travelling & The Live Midstakes, the BB calls and the limper also calls. We go to a flop 5 way of 2Travelling & The Live Midstakes9Travelling & The Live MidstakesTTravelling & The Live Midstakes. We plan to c/r, and it almost backfires until the original raiser continues for 65. The BTN folds, we make it 175, and the BB jams for 530 total. Everyone folds and we snap it off. The board disgustingly runs out 5Travelling & The Live Midstakes4Travelling & The Live Midstakes, but it's all okay as V declares pair of tens, and we're good!

So it was a good day... never feels to great to run into a bunch of coolers (even when you win) as it doesn't really show/prove anything. But I will not complain and hope to build on the momentum

Saturday night was a night to forget. Probably won a total of like 7 hands in 8 hours bigger than $50. Games were fine just tough when you don't make the best hand.

Our first interesting hand comes when MP makes it 15, HJ calls and we make it 55 to go in the CO with AA. The SB cold calls and the other two players call and we see a flop of 343 3 checks to us and we bet 130. Two folds, and the HJ jams for 280 total. We call and we are shown 88. The board runs out 8.....5... and we lose.

The next orbit, we get in 100bb pre with AK vs TT and lose.

We try to make some back when we open to 15 OTB with AK. The SB and BB calls. We see a flop of 942 the SB leads for 40, a loose recreational player but were tilted and call after the BB folds. The turn is the J and it goes check check. The river A bails us out and we bet 100. He calls and we take it down.

We get 2 outed a few times, just the usual stuff when we have Q9 in the CO and we make t 25 over a loose passive limper. The BTN makes it 50 and the limper calls. We call as well after getting ourselves into this bad spot. The flop comes T78 and the limper leads 70. We call and the BTN calls behind. The turn is the K and it checked to us. We check and the BTN bets 200. The limper calls, and I take a look at the 750 in the pot and make the call as well.

The river is the 8 and its checked to us in the middle. Both players have more than us, we have about 450 left and start counting it our chips. While this is happening I hear the player next to me start to grumble and complain about how bad he's running. I was planning to give up but I hear this and jam the last 450. He asks the dealer how much is in the pot, to which he replies he cannot answer. He decides on a fold and the other player folds as well. I'm not in the business of bluffing recs, and this hand was terribly played by me, but relieved to get it through.

Still stuck after this hand we are feeling a bit better and playing more disciplined (lol). We open AA from the CO, and the SB and BB call. The flop comes Q56 and it checks to us. The two players who called are refs so I decide to go to check and go for two streets. That is, until the turn is the Q. At this point, really don't see a point in betting for value when these two check to me so we check again. The river is the 9 and we bet 50 after they check to us. The SB just calls and we lose to QJ.

Shortly after, we try to ISO a limper to 25 with QJ from the CO. The BTN, BB, limper all call and we see a flop of K56 the limper leads for 70 and we call, as does the BTN. The turn is the J. It checks to us and we check, and so does the BTN. The river is the Q and it checks to us. We go for value, 115, and they both call. We are able
To beat AK, but not K5.

We lose a few more random 2pair over 2 pair until the nail in the coffin hits when we check 55 from the BB and we see a flop 5 way of 599 We try to go for the checkraise, but it checks all the way through and the turn is the 9 counterfeiting us. The SB leads for 20, who is far too loose, we call and the BTN calls. The river is the 8 and he leads 20 again. We call, the BTN raises to 60 and we both fold. I tiltingly show my 55 and he throws me the fourth 9. It was a rough day, but on to the next. GL at the tables!

Finally made it down to the Borgata for the first time. Needless to say it was worth the hype. The place is super nice, the games I was in were slightly better than average, it was overall a great experience. The place is pretty huge, and generally awesome.

We only played one real hand of interest, more of a lolhand that shows the spaz factor or live Poker that you must account for.

Two limps to us and we overlimp JT in the CO, and see a flop 5 ways of T87. A female maniac bets 25 from the HJ and we call. Everyone else folds and the turn comes the K She leads again for 75 and we call. The river is the J and she checks to us. We go for thin value, and wager 100. She makes a weird c/r to 225, and we call after some thought. We end up being good against 86o. She told em she thought I was bluffing with the flush draw.

No other real hands of interest other than me coolering people which was nice but not very noteworthy. Overall day one was dope, but there will be a longer day two post with some pictures.

GL all!

Borgata - Day 2

Woke up early on Saturday and was up and at it on the tables around 11. Only played a few interesting hands.

In our first hand, we see an open from a looser, young rec/reg to 25. He had been opening most hands to 15, and this was the first time he made it this big so this was a bit odd. A middle aged reg 3bets from the BTN to 75. He’s 3bet a few times but he’s generally on the tighter side.

We pick up JJ in the BB and 4bet to 220. The original raiser thinks for about a minute before flatting. The BTN somehow makes a fold IP getting 3:1 and we see a flop of 976. We decide to check and he checks back. The turn is the 3 and we decide to check again. Once again he checks beck and we see a fourth club, the 2 on the river and he checks back. Our J is good against KK. Not really sure, but this hand seemed really weird to me? I feel like we could have played differently.

In our next hand we open from MP to 20 with AK. The CO who has just sat down calls, and so does the BTN who is V from the previous hand. We go to a flop of 644 I decide to check, the CO checks and the BTN makes a small bet of 25. We call and the other player folds. The turn is the T And we check again. He bets 65. We decide to call again, as not really sure what he has for value here. The river is the Q and we check again. He bets 115 and we don’t follow through with our tread and fold. Given it was a bad runout, I don’t feel it’s too bad but he shows the 85 and we’re a bit sad.

In our final hand we open KJ to 20 from the HJ. The CO calls and the BTN who is a young Asian who has 3bet a few times already (shown down AA and TT) makes it 70 and we call. The CO calls as well. We are 2100 eff with the BTN and 1k with the CO, and we check a J92 flop. The CO also checks and BTN makes it 130. We call and the CO folds. The turn comes the 8 and we check to him again hoping to see a check. Unfortunately it does not come and he fires 260. After some deliberation, we decide on a fold for a few reasons.

Was able to squeak in another profit. It’s less impressive since we were in for almost 400BB, but #1kmax chip porn.

Back at it

Back home for the weekend we’re back at the Sun. Ended up starting the first game at around 10, and played until 11(pm) game was above average basically all day and we were able to book a nice win.

Our first interesting hand comes when there’s a limp and we make it 20 from the CO with AQ. The BTN calls and an Asian reg l/rr to 120. I’ve seen him do this with weird hands before, and although I’m not thrilled we jam for 300 eff and he calls. Unfortunately it’s AK this time and he scoops with A high.

Not too long after that there’s a limp from a different Asian reg and we make it 20 to go with KK. It folds to the limper who l/rr to 65. Here we go again. This time we have a slightly better hand, and go ahead and make the call with 600 behind. The flop comes 954. He fires out 75 and we make the call. The turn is the 7. This time he fires out 225. Based on what I perceive to be his range, we decide to jam for about 525 total. He is disgusted, but makes the call. We get the worst card in the deck on the river, the Q but we show first and our hand is good and we somehow take that down.

A few orbits later it’s folded to us on the CO with 55 in a straddled pot. Normally I’d just call here but the straddle is tilted and stuck ~1100 in a matter of 45 minutes. We make it 40 and only the straddle calls. He has 370 behind, and we see a flop of A75. He checks to us and we decide to check back and let him hang himself. The turn is the 8 and he unfortunately checks again. This time, we bet 65 and he calls. The turn is the 3 and he jams 328. Don’t love the runout but we stick it in and he mucks.

The same tilted villain raises to 20 from MP1, now stuck even more two orbits later. Given his nature, we call Q8 OTB and the blinds come along. We see a flop of 876. The blinds check and the raiser bets 65. We call and the blinds fold. The turn is the Q completing the rainbow and he bets 125. I feel like his range consists of a lot of pair+draw hands, two pair, and even a few over pairs. Given this, we jam 600 eff, and he calls quickly. We have ours but unfortunately we were drawing thin to 54o.

In our final interesting hand of the day there are two limps, and we decide to overlimp OTB with T9. We go to a flop of 875. It checks to the CO who wagers 30. We call, and one of the blinds calls as well. The turn is the K the blind checks, the CO Bets 45. I’m not much for bluff raising as people call too often but I feel like this card doesn’t help him often especially if he bets the flop, so I feel like it’s a good spot to make it 165. The blind folds, and the CO calls. The river is the K, not the best card to bluff, but after he checks to us what can one do with T high. We stick in 225

and to our delight he lays it down.

All in all a decent day, with some interesting hands. Finally building some steam here, just hoping to keep it up.

Gl on the tables all

Overbetting:

I want to talk about two spots that came up in my last session where I overbet the pot. I'm not sure if they make any sense, it is just something I decided to test but it may be terrible. Looking for some insight into the theory of it.

Hero limp A5 in MP. SB makes it 25, BB (tilting) calls, we call

Flop: (70) A78
checks through (def could bet)

Turn: (70) A
ch ch
we bet 25 since it seems like they have air

call call (maybe they have something)

River: (145) A
ch ch
we jam ~500. Tried to make it look bluffy? We shouldn't have an A here and could be called by 8?

Hand 2 (this was same orbit which is why I went for this)

Hero QT 25 from MP
BTN, SB call (same two guys)

Flop: AT9

ch ch ch

Turn: T

ch
we 30
call
call

River (160)
9

ch
we 300

Should we just be betting regularly? Maybe some thoughts on both sides?

The ob in H1 is better than H2. I like it in H2 otr if we have AT or 99 or sth. H2 I think 2/3 or pot gets called by 9x often enough but they can sometimes fold to 2x
Travelling & The Live Midstakes Quote

What I find interesting about H1 is that say villain has a pocket pair above 8 so 99-KK, they could potentially level themselves in this spot.

It is possible they could think you have an 8 and are trying to get them off a potential chop/value bet.

Although, I think it is more likely that they would think that you have 99-1010 type hand even though you limped. They would think potentially that you are trying to get max value from an 8. What's interesting is if they have a pocket pair 1010-KK, I definitely see them leveling themselves into a call here.

Good point, I agree that H1 the bet size is a bit more inelastic (if I'm using that right) meaning that size matters less as his hand strength should be polarized. Regular bet is better in H2 I was just hoping the previous hand played into their minds in the second hand.

Good evaluation. No way they are folding a big pair in H1, agreed. In H1, SB claimed folded an 8, the other guy was pained as well, (he only had 260 behind) but he folded as well so no $$ for me.

In H2 both villains folded as well, but it was very quickly.

Thanks guys

Had another solid weekend, making it 6/6 winning sessions for October. Our little BE stretch when we started the thread seems to be gone now, and admittedly we are running QUITE well....

A few hands from today. Games were great to start the day but fizzled our later into the night which is quite weird as it’s usually the opposite. Had a whale at the table VPIPing 80% of hands sun run and button click his way from 500 —> 4000. Nobody could beat this guy.

Our first interesting hand comes when we overlimp A6 in the CO over two limpers. The BB checks and we see a flop of 65Q three checks to us and we wager $20. We get two calls and see a 4 on the turn. At this point there’s virtually no point to bet, and we check to see the river after both callers check to us. The river is the A. We see a lead of 50, a fold and we make it 150. He tank/calls and our hand is good.

This hand is describes the LOL of live poker beautifully. We see 99 in the CO and raise to 30 over two recreational limpers. They both call and we go to a flop of 432. They check to us and we decide to size pretty small here, and wager 40. To our surprise the both call. The turn is the 2. The first limper checks and the player next to act leads for 100. We obviously call and so does the checker. The river is the 9 and the first player checks again. The middle player again leads out for 100
With 70 behind. The checker has about 270, so we just jam it in. The checker folds and the bettor FOLDS with 70 behind after sticking in $270 already. Sick fold.

In our final interesting hand we have 77 OTB and we call a raise from a very good player who made it 20 from MP1. Tre flop comes 64Q and he makes a standard cover of 25. We have an easy call against this V on this texture and we see a 5 on the turn. He checks and we decide to wager 55. What I did not expect was him raising to 180. We decide to make the call and evaluate river. The river did not give us much evaluating to do, as the gorgeous 8 appears. Villain jams for 300 and of course we make the snap call and are good.

Back at it next week, hoping to make it 7/7. GL on the tables all.

Going to be experimenting more with smaller sizing moving forward (mainly on flop) I've been doing a lot of flop work/listening to discussions where this could be merited in certain spots. We can give ourselves cheaper bluffs on boards like QQ6 or A64r by betting closer to 1/3 pot. Will be exploring more in spots I feel like it will be good this weekend, and hope to report back some findings.

Yeah those boards are about the only time I go 1/3 pot in live games and have had really good success with it esp when you're in position and people are less likely to float.
