We also get to realise our equity for really cheap if we pick up any draws on the turn like we did (would check back 100% of turns basically).

TT I'd just bet myself OTT and probably river as well but as played work out well!

98o Pre, flop and turn super standard for me. I think its thin but I'd still bet basicaly same amount you did if the games play quite wild (as they seem to do from your hhs) and not overthink it too much.

Looking forward to the next lot, Florida next on my personal list I think! Tempted to forgo LA this fall and do SoFlo myself

Thanks for the analysis! I think you're spot on, esp on the A8 hand as I may be able to get to the river cheaper than I did (except times that I get c/r on flop which shouldn't be too often)

Fla/LA definitely should be on your list from all standpoints (sightseeing/tourism/poker/etc) LA on my list as well I feel ashamed I haven't been yet!

Mardi Gras & Magic City: Day Two

(If looking for HH please skip to part 2)

Day two began just as day one did; rainy. And this time, it did not let up - so, more time for poker?

We began our journey and ate a nice lunch at the Hard Rock in downtown Miami. Got to take some cool photos, and also got harassed by people selling boat tours.

We decide to go to a poker room not listed on Bravo, magic city. For those unfamiliar, if a room is not listed on Bravo, it's usually pretty far behind the times. Just as we thought, this room was behind the times. We get to the room, and the frustration begins.

I'm wearing a tank top (it's ****ing Miami) and I am told at the front desk I cannot play unless I am wearing a t shirt (or more). Sick, since I didn't bring anything else and the room is 30 minutes away. I am told I can visit the players club upstairs and purchase a shirt. The shop is literally the smallest thing I've ever seen, it's basically a desk. They are it of t shirts but they do have one wonderful pink hoodie (lol, pictured below). I finally get to start playing and the room has no auto shufflers. Ok, that's not so bad I mean I can deal with it. Then comes a hand where I make it 20 pre and everyone folds. Before the $7 blinds get to me, they take out THREE dollars and give me 4. WTF is this place!?

Anyway, we sit down at 2/5 500 max and after getting outplayed and steaming in my pink hoodie I'm able to pay for my hoodie and make 200 profit. Awesome, let's get the **** out of here.

Part 2: Let's make some real money

After having enough of Magic ****ty, we head over to the Mardi Gras casino in Hillandale sporting the pink hoodie. So. Fla literally has 8 rooms within 45 mins of each other, spoiled.

This is another smaller place, but I really enjoyed the feel of the room and the chips. There are 2 2/5 1k max games running, and we are able to get a seat fairly quickly.

In our first interesting hand we check the lovely 93 in the BB 5 way. The flop comes 944 I bet 25 and get called by a limper from MP. The turn comes the 9 and it goes check check. The river is the fourth and final 9 we wager 200 in 75 as I feel as it looks super bluffy and we're just trying to steal. He calls and we're obviously good. I was 2 minutes away from winning the $1000 high hand, but we lose to JJJJ very late .

Next, we open up 87 from MP and get called by CO, BTN, BB. We go to a flop of 524 After the BB checks we questionable decide to bet 50, as this flop shouldn't hit people too often. I guess I'm terrible, because everyone calls. I guess we're just going to give up here. That is, until the beautiful 6 hits the turn. Whoops. It checks to us and we wager 175. The CO calls, and the BTN is all in for less. Don't worry dealer, you don't have to make the side pot I say in my head, and it is solidified when we see the A on the river. The CO has 700 remaining in his stack, so I wager that. He hits us with the patented "if you got it, you got it" and calls. We scoop a 2100 pot and are feeling great.

In our next interesting hand we continue to run into the deck when we 3bet A K from MP after a maniac playing 99/40 raises from EP, and a loose passive reg calls behind. A player also VPIPing 90+ cold calls behind me and the others fold. (Did I mention, this game was amazing?) we see a flop of QT4 The flop goes check check and we see the J turn. V has 150 left, so I decide to bet 50 with the hand all but locked up. He calls and the river is the Q were obviously going to win this hand, so we wager his last 100 and he calls with J8. Yeah, this is what dreams are made of.

It wasn't all so easy as we open up the K T from EP and get called by two maniacs. The flop is 884 and I try to get them off their hands(not sure why) and wager 40. One calls and we see a K turn. I wager 90 and maniac shoves for 200 total. Everyone here runs it twice, which is whatever I'm cool with it. I lose both birds to A8o and give some back.

We head out a big winner and enjoy a Cuban dinner. It was a great day two.

Day Three: Isle Pompano & Seminole Coconut Creek

Day three was another rainy day, but we managed to use up our two hours of sun at Wynwood, a really cool outdoor art place in Miami (pics below) As we were about to head out it starts to downpour, so time to degen!

First stop was Isle Pompano. Couldn't get anything going and was immediately stuck. Most of the day went like this, and we all know:

Raise to 20 with AQ. Flop 789 4 way. Someone bets, someone calls, we give up. Or - we 3bet AK to 50 and get a call. Flop is J89 V jam, we fold.

Only had one interesting hand at Pompano where we raise AT to 30 over 2 limpers from MP. BTN, BB, limper call. The flop comes 689 and it checks through. The turn is the T and an OMC who has been playing not too tight but not super loose leads for 40. I feel that he either has a straight or air here, so we call getting a great price. The BTN also calls and we see a 3 river. V jams 70, we call and the BTN folds. We're good. AT>A6

Later on we raise TT over 2 limpers to 30. The flop goes 5 way and we see 662 OMC from last hand leads 30. The spot at the table flats from the 3 seat and we make it 125 from the 4. Everyone folds except the player who flatter and jams 500. Obviously we have to let it go but it made me sad. In our final hand we overlimp 75 OTB and see a flop 4 way of J 8 T:diamond. BB leads for 15 and the limper calls. We make it 55 and they both call. The turn is the 6 and it checks through. The river is not what we need, the 8 and it checks to us. We bet 100 and are called by J9o

Our next stop: Seminole Coconut Creek! In our first hand we raise AQ in the SB to 40 over 3 limpers. 3 players call and we go to a 4 way flop of AT7 the flop checks through and we see a turn of J We check again, EP limp/caller checks, and the spot at the table wagers 40. One fold, we call and EP limp caller c/r to 100. Only we call and the river is the A we go for thin value and bet 110 and are called by KQ

As it seems our day is going to be hopeless everywhere we go, we call a raise of 20 from the BB after UTG player playing 99/50 raises, and there is a call from the CO. We see an interesting but quite beautiful flop of QJ9. Just the nuts. We check, the original raiser checks, and the CO bets 50. We throw in a c/r to 150 and the CO calls. The turn is the 5 and we lead 275. The CO thinks for a bit and jams for 650 and is shown the bad news after flipping over T8o. Cooler to the max but could easily have been avoided by folding that hand pre. He is unable to 3 out the chop and we take it down.

After giving some more back with failed cbet bluffs, we straddle the BTN and are dealt 44. There are two callers and we check. The flop brings the rest of the fours, 44T and it checks to us. We check and see a 9 hoping someone will toss some money into this pot. Once again they don't, and we check again and see a J river. They both seem very uninterested, but we try and pray someone will think we're bluffing and wager 175. They both quickly fold, and we are given the news that we have the high hand. It ended up holding 28 more minutes and we scoop $500!!! nice little bonus!

Probably going to be less poker and more life today as it supposed to rain less. Might still get the degen itch though. Gl on the tables everyone!

It's so beautiful down here in Miami. So much to do. Where was your favorite place to play down here?

Days Four & Five: Seminole Hard Rock II

Days Four and Five of the trip consisted of mostly touristy stuff. Had a great time chilling on the beach (first sunny day of the trip!) Ate some amazing food pictures below and took some cool pictures around the city.

Only played one interesting hand in our 3 hour session where we open KT to 20 from MP and get called by the two regulars in the SB and BB. The flop comes K74 and they check to me. I definitely can see betting here, but I decide to check it back thinking I can get one of them to try to stab at it once. I wouldn't generally do this against all players. The turn is the 9 and the SB leads 55. The BB folds and I call. The river is the T and the SB checks to us. We bet 100 for value and he calls, we're good.

Most hands at this table were taken down pre or went heads up. It brought me back to my online 6 max games, basically meaning the game sucked. We did not stay long and booked a small win. Decided to get out of there early and go sight see.

Tomorrow is our last day. Doubt we'll play any poker. Final trip numbers:

+1435 in 17.25 hours
+480 promo $$
12/10 fun

Can't complain.

Went back to mangos for more tacos

Hard to beat the beaches. So many rooms to choose from in terms of poker as well, it's ridiculous. Such a lovely place

Final Day In Paradise

Did actually get one final quick gamble session for about 3 hours. Did a little bit more sightseeing and eating as well. Even got to hang at the beach for the first time this trip which was an awesome way to end it. Great experience overall for sure.

Played a few interesting hands. The first hand comes when we limp AJ in EP 7 handed. Our usual play is to open this, but decided for something different. The flop goes 5 way and we see a flop of 523:spade. And the blinds check to us. We decide to bet 25 with the plan to barrell multiple streets. A middle aged regular woman calls (overlimped UTG+1) and we see a 9 turn. We decide to keep the pressure on and wager 55. She calls again and we get the 5 river. I go for the triple barrel and bet 130. Unfortunately, she quickly
Calls with 66.

A few orbits later we decide to 3 bet to 55 with A4 after a regular opening too wide opens to 15 OTB. The flop comes Q79 and we lead for 70. He thinks awhile, calls and we catch the 6 on the turn. I decide to feign weakness and check. To our joy, he bets 115 with 220 behind. I jam it in for 335 eff and he tanks for a minute and folds. Didn't think he'd fold there after already putting in 240 with only 220 left.

We run into some turmoil, and can't really win any hands for the next hour or so, and an OMC finally shuts plus down for the day when we raise AQ from the BTN to 35 after 3 limps. The flop goes 4 way and we see an interesting flop of 933. It checks to me and I try to take it down with a small bet of 55. The OMC calls and we see a K turn. He quickly leads for 125 and we let it go.

We lose another hand to him the exact next hand and he lets us know he flopped trip 3's in back to back hands against us. At that point it's time to call it quits and enjoy one last walk on the South Beach strip. Thank you for having us FL.

Back home & not crushing

Back home for our first session since being back from Florida. Was planning on playing Yesterday and today due to the long weekend, but did not feel ready to go today after what transpired last night. Started off strong, and booked a ~600 profit in 9 hours of 2/5. Then, the 5/T game started, and I decided to take a shot as the game looked relatively good. Even the stronger player sin the game I've played with many times, and feel like I have a decent grasp on their games.

Played about an hour of 5/T for -2500. Killed my motivation for today and didn't feel like I;d be in a good state of mind to play again today.

In our first interesting hand, we're 1500 eff and it folds to the CO who is one of the biggest winners in the room. He opens to the standard, 35 and we look down at AJ I feel this is a great spot to put in a 3bet in position against an opponent opening fairly wide in the CO. We make it 110, and only he calls. We see a clop of Q93. He checks it to us and we go for a bet of 140. We're certainly ok with checking back here, but feel like a bet is good as well. He puts in a c/r to 425. I think for a bit between jamming and flatting, but decide to just flat. The turn is the 7 and he jams for ~950. This sucks, and I decide on a fold although I'm sure it's close.

In the next hand, already stuck 1400, after we flop a few TPTK against sets, and trips > JJ we're OTB with the AK. The spot at the table opens the HJ to 35, and the CO calls. We put in a 3bet to 150, which must look a bit steamy, and they both call. We see a lovely flop of K65. They both check to us and we bet 325. The spot calls with 620 behind, and the CO folds. The turn is the Q and the HJ leads for 375. Although we don't love it, there's now 1500 in the middle and he has 245 behind. We stick it in and he shows QQ, putting us to the felt.

It's certainly a humbling experience, and it puts us right back to the drawing board. It definitely stings to run a bit cold in the biggest game you play, but what can you do. It's back to the books and time to continue learning and improving.

GL on the tables

Our starting 5/T stack which turned to 0 quickly

Unlucky bro. Sometimes you just gotta torch that money. Re AJ hand, I think it sucks whether we call the raise or jam or fold. I THINK though villain has next to no bluffs here esp with our blocker, it's like flushes, sets, and overpairs, so I actually think we need to be folding this deep vs that range. AK is lolunlucky :')

Fun In The Sun

It was a wild night at the Sun Saturday. Glad to be back in our winning ways. Actually up this money in terms of BBs won, but unfortunately still in the red $$ wise, which is a bit frustrating.

Our first interesting hand comes when we look down at AK OTB. After two limps, we make it 25 to go, and get called by the BB, and the two limpers. We see a flop of K67 it checks to us, and we bet 50. The BB and CO call, both losing middle aged black gentlemen regulars. The turn is the 9 and it checks to us again. This time, we wager 130. The BB calls with about 300 behind, and the CO is all in for less, 55. We see a 3 on the river and it is checked to me a third time. I decide to go small, 120, but the BB quickly folds, and we are good against the CO to scoop.

A few orbits later we look down at AT in the HJ and make it 25 over a limper. The BTN, and BB call. We see a flop of AJ3 and the BB who has been VPIPing 100% and taking weird lines leads for 20. I call, and so does the BTN. The turn is the 9 and he leads for 25. Again, I don't see we can do anything other than call, and we do so, and so does the BTN. The river is the K and he leads one more time, this time for 65. We call again, the BTN folds and we are shown Q9 and take it down.

After a short break, We come back to the table and are card dead for about 90 minutes. Literally haven't played a hand when we look down at 77 in the SB. Two players limp and a player who has been raising far too wide from the CO makes it 30. We decide to use both factors mentioned above to punish him with a 3bet to 100. Instead, we punish ourselves as the UTG limper calls and so does the original raiser. We go to a bloated 3way pot of 932 We lead for 155 as I can't imagine this board is too great for them, but we can't shake the UTG limp cold caller, but the CO folds. At this point it's clear to me he has an overpair, so we're planning on giving up, until.....

The turn comes the 7. The villain has about 950 behind, and we wager 325. He quickly calls, and now we are praying for a low card. Our prayers are met as we receive the 4 we jam it in there for 650 eff and he quickly calls. We show our set and he angrily mucks. Our stack looks like this after we scoop that pot.

We decide to give some back because we're nice people when we call 25 OTB with 2/5 of a royal, AT. The flop comes T57 and the BB and original raiser check. A middle aged Asian woman bets 75, and only we call. The turn is the 5 and it goes check check. The river is the 3:heart; and we go for some value, 100. She thinks for a little while before settling on a call with QQ

Shortly after, we pick up A 9 OTB and make it 25 after the CO limps. The BB and co call and we see a flop of AJ6 it checks through and we decide to check it here as well. He turn is the Q and the BB checks. The CO bets 50 and we call, while the BB folds. The river is the 9 and the CO bets 200. He has been playing about 85/40 so he's quite wild. I think he can easily show up here with worse hands and bet them, so we call. Unfortunately he has the stones, KT and we donate him some chips.

Finally, right before we're ready to leave we make it 30 in MP with JJ over 2 limpers. The game has become quite insane, and it stayed this way as we go to the flop 5 way of 635 two checks to us and we wager 75. The SB, c/r all in for 277 more. She had jammed it in about 5 times during the past hour with varying 40-80 BB stacks, showing every time. Some times she had it, others, she had semi bluffs or complete air. We decide to call and lose to 66. Under normal circumstances it's a fold IMO but under current conditions we shouldn't hate our play.

GL to everyone on the tables. Very excited to not play today and watch week one football .

-AK on Kh6s7s 9c 3h hand is wp -
-Lol at the AT hand, but otherwise looks good vs rando.
-77 hand, on a really soft-sounding table like this I would just call especially if you're deep. I understand why 3betting might be ok but my reasons for flatting are as follows:

1. Live poker players dont like folding to 3bets IP.
2. You're on a really soft table full of button clickers so your implied odds sound fantastic
3. It plays like dog**** post-flop
4. ^^Overall think its a little bit unnecessary, although these kinds of plays are something I've been guilty of in the past esp when Ive been card-dead in an amazing game for past -3 hours!

As played think turn and river bet sizing was perfect in terms of getting the money in!

-AT hand I'd probably raise small-fold the flop vs a rando in this game based on bet sizing, think after a cold-caller we're going to be ahead a lot of the time, and theres lots of random Tx, 7x we're way ahead of.
-A9 I'm not thrilled with all the straights out there but definitely calling ul
-Basically snapping JJ on 653dds pay the woman her money : D!

Enjoy the football, not sure if you're still in Florida but hope y'all safe out there!

Thanks for the input! Totally agree that the 77 3bet is highly unnecessary, and I have to be more disciplined even when card dead. Point #3 is so true.... Also, people don't notice that you haven't played a hand in forever and are calling too light for sure.

JJ was the only play I was really unsure of. Kind of annoying lol but what can you do.

Also, no longer in FLA but my thoughts are with them for sure. It was a scary storm even to just follow in the news.

glgl out there on the grind
