It's not necessarily a horror book exactly (though it has some components of one), but "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy is very, very good. A lot of people have already read it though, perhaps yourself included.

I enjoy reading in general although I'm definitely in a bit of a horror phase right now. I have not read/or heard of it so I'll check it out, thanks!

Big dates in September

So I ended up booking my surgery for my eye and I'm going into Manhattan for it on September 11th (This feels a little eery tbh but only date they had til October. Very excited to get this done as I feel like I've only heard great things from people who got their vision corrected. This will probably be a slow week poker wise.

In even more important news, we scheduled the embryo transfer date for September 24th. There's been a ton of things done behind the scenes to get here but it's really exciting. We go back on the clinic w Jazz on October 3rd for a pregnancy test. There's about a 70% success rate so we'll have to see, I have a good feeling though

Poker

Got a lot done on this end, got pretty strong volume for me and am putting in some work off the tables as well, other than that running very pure in every stake except 5k unfortunately, thankfully not much volume there. Other than that, not too much updates. Planning to continue grinding hard til Maine.

Next Monday will be a busy day...

One of my coaching days, will be a pretty insane day of talking poker til I lose my voice.

Unfortunately, didn't play much volume this week but did make up for it with working on my game + being productive in other areas. I took 2 days off after my tuesday night session, where I played verryyyy poorly and tilted a bit, played a few hands against Nick Schulman I definitely want back, but that's how it goes!

Otherwise, another busy week of coaching and playing this week before Maine, Saturday Morning. Started today (Monday) with about 8 hours of coaching and 2 hours of playing to start off fairly productive, otherwise nothing too exciting to share.

Hand of the week.

Hi guys, it’s been about a month since my last post, so I figured now is better than ever to tackle this month update as I’m still slightly limited (eye surgery). Lot to talk about despite not really putting in many hands in September.

MAINE:

My first vacation in over a year was a good one. Maine is beautiful, was awesome to really soak in the nature on this trip after being pretty much cooped home for the past 6 months. Our drive was only about 5.5 hour from NJ to Boothbay, the harbor in Maine we were staying in.

Me and Victoria joined my brother and sister-in law for the trip and we decided to stay in a bed and breakfast overlooking the harbor. Now for me B@B’s weren’t on my to do list; but….it was really awesome. Service was amazing and the breakfast was actually to die for. I think the food up there may have been my favorite part.

Other than that, we kayaked to a nearby island a little over a mile away (girls hated, guys liked it), went to the botanical gardens, and then went on a few hikes along the coastline. We had planned to go to Acadia (which I’ve heard is gorgeous) but couldn’t make it work. After all that, it was pretty much lobster on lobster on lobster. Overall really nice time and I would definitely recommend to anyone on the east coast looking to get away.

*island we kayaked to

*Sample of breakfast

*Me and BIL on island after kayak (girls too pissed to join*)

*more kayaking

PRK Surgery:

As the summer was winding down and I had done very well this year decided to go to an Ophthalmologist to see if I’m a candidate for LASIK. I ended up being accepted but the doctor also offered PRK which after some back and forth decided was the best fit for me. (both laser eye surgeries, but the PRK surgery takes a bit longer to heal)

I ended up getting my surgery September 11th in Manhattan (eerie) not really knowing what to expect. Doctor and two technicians walk me into a room, have me lay down, tape my eyes shut. Then he took off some layer of skin (?) off my eyes after applying numbing drops to my eyes (quite bizarre feeling). They then tell me to look at the laser, and then boom it’s firing into your eye. No pain, only a little pressure…but my heart was beating out of my chest. I thought I’d at least get a Xanax before hand lol.

After the surgery, my eyes are blurry but can see better than pre-surgery. Doctor says all good, but pain will be bad next two days and start as soon as the numbing drops wear off. He was notttt kidding as my eyes were irritable and painful for 2 days straight. I couldn’t look at my phone let alone watch tv. So I basically smoked (not a big smoker) all day to sleep through it and ordered some taco bell (the life of Gazzy B amirite).

Since then, sight has gotten a lot better but still not 100% and the 2 sessions I’ve played I haven’t seen well and felt some strain so haven’t pushed it. But all things considered, it’s been awesome and I’m really glad I’m done. Sometimes I think I still have my lenses in tbh.

Surrogacy:

This will probably be the last time I update this til the end of the year just due to the fact things seem to change every 2 weeks through this process. We were supposed to have our embryo transfer yesterday, but last week the meds my lovely cousin, Jazz, was on didn’t have the response expected which basically means we have to start all over as far as meds etc and pushes back the time limit at least over a month.

In the end, everything is completely out of my control so I’m ok with it (especially being a poker player, it’s like our #1 principle), but obviously it’s a bit harder on my wife. So yeah will update everyone on this end of year w hopefully lots of good news!

Poker:

The heater has not died. I continually have run blistering hot at any sort of highs take action, in the end I have told friends it’s a top 3% year run but it really could be a 1%. Regardless, been that sort of year. On the flipside, I’ve been consistently working on my game, and also learning a lot from other great players these past 2 months and I'm starting to widen the gap between myself and a lot of my competition.

I’m looking to finish this year strong and then make that big jump into the elite company come next year.

Whats deal with turn crai on J932 with AK as 3ber. Turn continuing half the time vs a float bet with 15% 3bet. What also happens in this hand. Good chance to find extra bluffs that apply a lot of pressure and also good for our OPs?

On #3 could you also mix a diff size like low block there given you cover so much of the top 2prs and he is likely v weak?

Glad to hear of your success and youll get there with the family!

It's ok, call is standard I had some reasons for shoving but even now it might not be best play, hence the clicking. Either way I don't think it's a disaster or anything and worst case probs a small mistake.

#3 is HU and since I'm not really well versed in it as I could be, i'm not mixing sizings at the moment

September was the lowest volume month of my career as I managed about 16k hands as I recovered from surgery. It was still a pretty big month because I ran supernova. So things again are going pretty good, I'm looking forward to playing a lot more in October as my coaching schedule isn't too crazy this month.

I'm also creating a weekly vlog for the BTS students on kind of how to approach your week as a professional etc. which is motivating me to work my ass off. Had a very productive 1st day doing that.

Pouring the resources in

I still am nowhere near the surface of where I can be as a player. I've gotten a lot of help recently from a friend I hired to help different parts of my game, will give him an appropriate shout later but I've improved a good amount since I began working with him.

I also took a pretty significant commitment and hired Elliot Roe to begin working w me. I have my first session w him this week, so I'm very excited! No stone left unturned

In what way is Elliot Roe not Tony Robbins? Don't see a reason to pay him for anything. Seems like a good way to take some of your success and give it to him. You already seem pretty well motivated. I don't know what you're looking to him for.

Pretty curious if u think you’re getting value with him at his current price structure after some sessions.
