I also lost like 5k last 24 hours continuing my horrific run at 1k.

I need a break badly but losing the bet after all this work would be catastrophic.

Hey I have been following the thread for a while. I was living in States but then moved to Europe and never had chance of playing in NJ area online at partypoker or p*. How is the traffic at Party if you dont mind sharing that?

The traffic is fine from 6PM-1AM pretty much every day where you can get your games in fine, the mornings can occasionally be good too but it's usually pretty sparce.

50NL and 200NL best stakes as far as volume, gets a lot more difficult to put in good volume 500+.

Today was bar none, one of the most frustrating days of poker of my life. I was already tired but forced myself to just grind to win this bet. And then the doom switch hit. I thought I handled it ok at first but by 8PM I was just really not, I was very irritable and I even slammed my desk after a really dumb hand vs reg.

So in summation, I'm kind of ticked. My month which was looking like a massive win is now pretty dusty. Part of it is me not playing great and my mental game has definitely eroded a bit during this month, but to be honest the deck is just bending me over.

One side note: Have had quite a few players mention this bet to me and show their support. You guys are awesome and it means a lot to me.

Note #2: I'm not a very good poker grinder, I don't know how people manage this every month.

Some visuals:

Graph of the month

Stake Breakdown

Got 3 days to grind a little over 27k hands and bump the EV a bit...it currently sits at 3.84 so really hoping to focus better tomorrow and play a bit stronger.

No hands, because I do not want to relive the memories.

Gonna need all the luck I can get

Got killed again today.

Sitting at 128.5k hands at 3.15 EV. Very close to just swallowing the L at this point. I'm playing very poorly and I'm pretty miserable, playing 10k hands a day and getting kicked in the nuts for 12 hours straight is not enjoyable.

It's rough. I was rooting for you.

Take a few days off imo and start fresh for Nov.

October Review, Random Thoughts, and Other Musings

As hinted above, I did not end up winning the prop bet coming up a bit short.

Graph:

Stake Breakdown:

So yeah overall disappointing but happy with my effort, if I had to do it all over again I would have played a bit more early. I played 29 straight days of pretty decent volume which obv. quite a bit of poker. I think around the 90k mark my play started to deteriorate slowly. I also could have responded better mentally to the downswing.

Although I lost $1,800 on the bet I don't have regrets, it definitely pushed me and hopefully makes it easier to crank out future volume. On the flipside, I was up around 15k with cash and tournies about 10 days into the month and was looking at one of those breakout months. On the brightside, I finished up some money. #rakebackpro

A few final thoughts:

-I'm very motivated to put in work this month off the table and fix some predominant leaks that I've had a bit too long.
- 0-1 in career prop bets
- My WR at 100NL is slightly over 2 over 100k sample. My winrate as 500NL over 100k sample is 2.5 #FunFacts

November

As stated above, I put in no studying last month so I really want to get back to that. I aim to do a bit more PIO work and already did quite a few hours of studying today along with some coaching. I'm gonna be implementing some big changes so will take it easy on volume and will probably even 6 table incorporating this stuff.

Yeah, so excited and ready to crush and get out of this career worst DS.

GL, very admirable what you attempted to do, I'm convinced very few are working as hard as you do in NJ, I know several of the other winning players an most r largely just riding the bike humming along. Much respect for your work ethic and always battling nature.

Thanks! Off table work is definitely one of the more difficult aspects of being professional. My first few months, the how to study part I definitely struggled with. Yeah the battling part is just in my competitive nature, i could def take it easy and make a decent income but think I'm capable of moving into highstakes and not settling for variance free money.

I do think I do a better job at it then most other professionals, although there are quite a few who are more productive with their hours Hopefully it pays off this month.

----------

Still no poker played this month so quick generic update. Spent a good amount of time today and yesterday changing some of my ranges in a few spots, also did quite a few hands to review on PIO from last month. For sure made some mistakes.

Also housetraining a new pup...way harder than poker. Wish me luck in that one

Back to work

Hadn't had a real session since my October 29th session, so nice to put in some work today. However, my girlfriend had a work event til 11 so I had to manage playing while looking after the pup, it didn't work too well and I only managed 1k hands in.

On the bright side, as a whole playing very well and off to a nice start with no volume. Despite 0 playing I put a good amount of time of off the table work and have mostly been 6-7 tabling making sure I'm implementing some of these changes.

Let's take a look at this sustainable Win rate...

But I has pair! Yeah was kind of indifferent towards it, Villain not very bluffy but river sizing convinced me. Think villain made a lot of sizing mistakes throughout the hand. And working my way up to those 1 combo folds

Part of the fold was the thinking that I have no implied odds against this villain, in the end thought folding was slightly better than calling, also fold is heavily depended on the frequency of AK he has and leads etc. Don't particularly expect him to 3b/c hands like J10s/KQs etc.

Have continued to put in very little volume this month, yet have won more than twice as much as I did last month ironically.

Have played a whopping 7 hours, not to say I've been lazy as have put way more time into off the table. Nothing intense. But an hour here, hour there. Working a bit with PIO.

Would say been playing extremely well outside of my last session where I had a few hiccups.

1.) Good river play by villain and strong call by myself given reads IMO

What's the reason for checking back T9 otf in H4? Villain tendencies?

Villain is a solid reg and I expect to be c/r this board a fair amount against my cbets, but it's mostly for balance/deception. If I bet all my straight draws here, villain can put a ton of pressure on a lot of runouts etc.

That being said this is a cbet a large majority of the time, I expect I'm checking this like 25% of the time if I had to guess? Thought this combo blocking some backdoor hearts and clubs would suffice.

How much do you change your cbet strategy based on what you think of villian?

It's more of me adjusting to villains range than anything, although villain tendencies can definitely have me deviate from my basic strategy.

Example A: I open CO and BU w a cold call of 7% comes along, Flop is J10xrb, I decide to check about 70-80% of my range.

Example B: I open CO and BU w a cold call of 27% comes along, Flop is J10xrb, I decide to lead about 65-75% of my range.

That's just one very basic example with one variable, but yeah I have will definitely deviate my basic cbet strategy if the situation calls for it

Just want to note that I actually ran this and still checking a ton in Example B and more likely to lead 65-75% with a CC of 45%.

What part was misplayed? Does pio recommend a slowroll otr for future tilt equity?

Kidding, i assume we can bet turn.

I also never know how to size/play these flop spots.
