Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Action has been great in the local card room. 1-3 nl averages about 10k on the table. Going to play now.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

We still have action at Creek Entertainment. I seem to miss the biggest action days, but i've been finding some phenomenal lineups at the 1-3 nl uncapped game. Of course there is a confirmed whale that has been playing there so most players come in hoping he is in the lineup, but even when he isn't the game is good. Especially short handed.

I plan on heading to Jacksonville Thursday and staying to play at Best Bet through Friday. Thursday at noon there is a bounty tournament starting that is 1570$ buyin with 500$ bounties. That sounds like a pretty good tournament to me. I wonder how many players they will get in it. 15k starting stack 30 minute levels. Hoping this bigger buyin tournament will drive some of the cash game action as players bust out. Then again this is a re-entry tournament.

Got my hotel room for 49$ on hotwire. Definitely hit the under on what I expected to pay. Best Bet needs to step it's game up and get the bravo app.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

At the hotel in Jacksonville relaxing. Just played a 8 hour session of 5-10 nl/plo.

The lineup was decent, all except for a few traveling pros. Ohh btw jamie gold was in the game.

Ill just get straight to the hand I want to share.

Hero (5k)
Button (4.5k)
Gold (4k)

5-10 plo with 25 button straddle, sb calls, bb calls, hero calls with 5d6d6s7c, gold calls, button bets 175, sb folds, bb calls, hero calls, gold calls.

Pot (725) Flop Ac8d9d

Bb checks, hero checks, gold checks, button bets 375, bb folds, hero calls, gold calls.

Pot (1850) Turn 5s

Hero leads out pot 1850 to call, gold folds, button calls.

Pot (5550) River Ad

Hero checks, button checks.

Button shows QhQdTd7h and scoops 5550 pot.

By far the biggest hand i got into all night. This hand stung especially hard as I had been running rough all night. QQ into KK. KQ into AQ on JT9 flop, K turn. I got stuck early in the game and I had almost got unstuck until this hand.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Thanks for reading. Creek Entertainment in Gretna is right off of I-10. Ebro in Panama City is about 35 minutes off I-10. Theres also a room in Pensacola that I havent been to yet but I hear the action is similar to that of the other rooms in the area.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Action is still good at Creek Entertainment. 1-3 nl uncapped game is playing really big. Put in a 13 hour session there yesterday. The 1-3 nl game had run through the night and there were several players with 2k stacks. I sat down with 1700 ready to butt some heads.

I open KQ off in mp, guy on my left calls, blinds call. Flop QT7 rainbow. Me and the guy behind me get it in for about 200 each on the turn and he has TT. Nice hand. This initial run bad continued for several hours. At one point I was stuck 1100 in the game. I bought 500 more chips and tried to shake it off. The game was good. I just needed to get some cards.

About 7pm or so I went on a tear. I mean one of those types of runs that you read about in the the story books. Flopped a boat, Flopped quads, Flopped open ended straight flush draw, Flopped top two, Turned quads, Turned a boat, JJ held up, Rivered the nut flush, etc. All against the top of the opponents ranges too.

Finally unstuck and up 700 at this point.

By 10pm I had about 3.5k in front when I get in a hand with a confirmed whale. There is a button straddle of 6, blinds fold, whale opens to 25, folds to me i call with Ac5s, folds to button who calls. Flop 9c9s5c, whale leads 25, i raise to 50, button folds, whale calls. Turn 4c, whale leads 275 with 502 behind, i tank raise to put him all in and he snap calls. River Qh. I show A5 and he shows J5 no club.

A few hands later the whale opens to 455 all in blind utg, folds to me I call with QsJs, folds to button who calls (still has another 1k behind). Flop comes AcJcTc, i check, button checks. Turn 9c, I check, button checks. River 7h, I check, button checks. Whale shows Ks7d, button shows, 5d5h, i scoop with a pair of J's!

Racked up shortly after this pic up 3595.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

How often do you play at the beau Rivage? Also, don't go to pensacola. I used to be a reg in the room there. The Holdem games suck. 1/2 200 cap. Very rarely an uncapped 1/2 or 2/5 game runs. However, you're into Omaha, they run uncapped big o pretty much every night.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

I go to the Beau when they have big tourney series running. Ill be there at some point during the million dollar heater. Thanks for the tip on penacola. I was there the first time last week for their 50k guarantee. They had both Big O and 1-2 nl uncapped but that was prob due to the tourney.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Headed to Tampa in the morning to play the 150$ 100k guarantee. Hopefully I get through on one bullet so I can play cash games later in the night.

This weekend I head to Naples for the first time. I have been checking their website and it looks like they get some big plo games at the local card room. I will have a full scouting report as I should be in Naples for 10 days or so.

First weekend of the new year I will be heading to Biloxi. They have their million dollar heater running and their cash games are all uncapped. I get giddy thinking about all the action I'm going to be finding in the near future. Hoping to play well and the run good will follow.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Posting from Naples right now. This place is much nicer than I had anticipated. Im not really the type to shop and walk the strip, but I enjoy the diversity and interacting with the people that it attracts. I keep checking the naples kennel club poker website and see that there is a 10-20 plo running. It says the game is private so I doubt I will be able to sit in it, but if anyone is reading this that can get me in the game please pm me lol. There are people here with sums of money that I can only fathom having one day. That typically makes for a great high stakes plo game.

Tampa went well despite busting out of the tournament the last level of day one. I played 5-10 nl and managed to not lose my shirt. The game was playing very fast and loose. Only memorable hand at the moment was where I 3 bet an ep opener with AQ and then called his 4 bet in position. Then called a A53r flop and raise jammed a 3s turn that put 2 spades on the board. River put another 3 and we chopped the pot. He had As6s.... A friend pointed out that he didn't particularly like my preflop play in that hand. I did have hand history with the ep opener and I felt he could get creative else AQ is getting mucked to the 4!.

REally looking forward to the Beau Rivage Million Dollar Heater schedule. I booked a room for 5 nights although I don't think I'll be able to stay that long. Expecting huge fields to show in event 1 with 345+10addon 500k guarantee. Along side that runs uncapped cash games that play 500+bb's deep sometimes late at night. Im expecting big things out of this trip.

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

I'll be there Saturday. Waited too late to book a room so I'm just grinding all day and night. The cash game list in the poker room will be 100+ deep. There will be cash tables upstairs as well in the tournament room. Good luck ab!

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

2014 was pretty awesome from a poker standpoint. Memorable moments were getting to play a long cash session with Jamie Gold, finding a confirmed whale at the local card room where I play, playing 5-10 nl at Aria in Vegas, and playing a 2-5-10-20-40 plo game.

A few things I intend to change in 2015 are that I intend on increasing my poker work ethic greatly, keep closer tabs on my poker accounting, and treating poker more as a business.

My girlfriend is now aware how much poker means to me both as a sport and as a means of making income. I now have her 'somewhat' on board for me taking several trips a month to venues hosting poker tournaments in search of bigger/better games and bigger/higher potential ROI MTT's. Her support isn't needed for me to succeed as a poker player, but it definitely helps knowing that I have a support group behind me.

Happy New Years Twoplustwo and Twoplustwo'ers. Long live free press on the internet even if it allows trolls to infuriate me at times. GL in 2015!

Re: Touring Florida Poker Rooms

Not bad. I went to the beau friday morning and registered for the 500k at noon (I ended up busting level 1). Went to cash games and got on a 5-10-25 plo game for an orbit before I was called to 2-5 nl. I played 2-5 nl for an hour or so having made 200 from holdem and 250 from plo I racked up and went to check into my room. The drive was a solid 4 hours and I needed some rest for the tourney, or so i thought (again i busted 1st level). After I bust I go back downstairs to get back on the cash games, but THE LISTS WERE HUGE. I should've never given up my seat at 2-5 nl that I had. Hell the 5-10-25 plo game ran full for the rest of the night and eventually turned into a 10-25-50 plo game.

That was the span of the trip because I was called back to Tallahassee to deal with stuff. I may go back this weekend for the cash game and maybe satellite the Main Event.
