Yeah, I've read and commented on your thread. I forget what I said at the time, but the good thing about South Florida is there are several venues to go play. Off the top of my head there's Isle Pompano, Hardrock Hollywood, Mardi Gras, Gulfstream, Coconut Creek Hardrock, West Palm Beach Kennel Club, Calder, Hialeah Gardens,... and I know I'm missing a few. The quality players are going to be at the bigger venues where 5-10 nl runs daily and people have money so even if they aren't good at poker they play 2-5 nl. Sometimes the smaller venues get really good games going. These smaller places are filled with locals (some elderly, some retirees, some snow birds with money). The tourists visiting resorts aren't playing in these games very often. Point being that potential revenue streams could come from different properties.

After thinking about it all day. I think that the game in Biloxi would be risky with opportunity for a big payoff. I think that the games in Tampa would be optimal as they have a huge 550 multiday reentry event kicking off on Friday. The satellites into the event would likely be a soft spot to get multiple bullets into that event for cheap. Jacksonville and Daytona Beach won't have all of they're big players because many will be traveling to Tampa. SO the verdict is in. I'm playing in Tampa starting on Wednesday. I found a Sheraton for 60$ a night about 2 miles from the casino. WISH ME LUCK!

Enjoyed the read. I like your player descriptions.

The only advice I will add is never show. Keep them guessing!

Really excited for the trip tomorrow. I am still a little on the fence as to where I should be driving to but one thing is I am going to be finding action. I hope to continue challenging myself to play a better game as I search out big games in Florida. I also will work on better writeups so the read is more entertaining. I've noticed that I seem to post a good day 1 report and then kind of trail off for the remainder of the trips. Knowing that I do get something out of writing these, I will try and put more work into them.

Plan is leave here around 1pm. Check in at hotel around 5pm. Be at the tables by 6pm. Feeling calm and confident that I picked a prime location to make some money these next few days. Lately im not really feeling playing the tournament as it is so time consuming and unless you final table you don't even really get paid. Thinking cash is the way to go for me, but if some of those satelites are filled with grandmas then I'll probably take the opportunity to punish them for their generosity. Leggo

Ok sorry for the delay. Day 1 I left for Tampa and decided to stop at Ocala Poker Room. I found an action game! The 2-5 nl was a great game. The buyin limits were 200 - match the big stack so the game was playing large. I played really bad here. I was eager to play, playing pots out of position, playing hands from behind in attempt to catch up or bluff, and ended up getting lucky to not lose the entire 1700 I was in the game for. After being stuck about 1k I managed to luck box a 1900$ pot by calling off my stack after leading the turn with bottom pair and open ended straight draw with 47 off on a board or 4c5h6h Kc. The guy had Kh5h and I caught a 5 outer by spiking the 8d. I played a couple hours longer and got into more marginal spots at best and ended up cashing out down 1300.

I head to the Sheraton in Brandon that I scored for 65$ a night. I cleaned up a bit and headed to Hardrock Tampa. I got into a 2-5 nl game and put my name on the 5-10 nl list. I continue my bad play but run good as I won another 1600 pot getting it in with about 8% equity. To setup the '8% equity hand' with another hand I played against the same opponent. I limp called 25 preflop with Kd5d and the flop was 2d 3c 6s, villian bets 50 the flop and I call with backdoor flush, gut shot and over card. The turn paired the 3, and villian bets 100, I call and the river brings the K of clubs. Villian checks, and I bet 300 and he calls and mucks. He clearly wasn't happy with me. About 4 orbits later...
I call the villians utg+2 open to 25 out of the bb along with 2 other players with KdTh. The flop came out Kc 6h 2h, I lead out 75 and the initial raiser called, and the other two players folded. The turn brought the 2s and I lead 200, the preflop raiser tanked and shoved 500 more to call. For some reason I didn't believe the guy (thought there was a chance he had a flush draw and saw good fold equity) so I decide to call and he shows 66... I spike the Ks on the river for a better full house. SO DIRTY.

With the play bad and run good out of my system (for the night) I start playing solid. I felt very fortunate to not be stuck 2k or more for the day and am actually up for the day. I end up cashing out 3404 out of the 2-5 nl game of which i was in for 1k so 2404 profit minus 1300 from ocala for a total of 1104 profit on the day.

I have pictures to post from day 1 that I'll attach in the next post.

I just moved here in August so I havent found any home games yet. The poker room nearest to tally blows. Its called Creek Entertainment at Gretna and their crowd is super old and nitty. Rarely will you find a game worth sitting in there.

The next poker trip is planned. I am heading back to sunny south florida for WSOP Circuit at West Palm Beach, and possibly a wpt tournament at Coconut Creek. Hardrock Hollywood hooked it up with a free hotel stay (which is hard to believe but true). The commute to west palm beach is about 45 minutes, and to coconut creek is only about 20 minutes so despite being far from the venues it is free. This trip I will be playing the biggest buy in tournament I've played to date. I would love to play the WPT 3500$ tournament. I know it is a long shot but I may try one or two of the 390$ satellites.
I'm so ready to play. I feel like it has been weeks since I've played a long session. Less than 2 weeks to wait. It can't come soon enough.

Try selling some action in the marketplace, might be able to get you into the 3500$

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have no street cred in the market place. If I do I will sell to friends and family. 3500$ is mucho to invest into one poker tournament when I've had limited success in them.

Dates are set. Im driving Thursday morning to South Florida. Probably am going to hit the usual spots on the way down I-95. Thinking of amending my game plan to play strictly cash games. There will definitely be plenty of games to choose from this trip. Good problem to have. If I do play tournaments it will be a mix of the ones below.

580$ Multi Entry Million Guarantee
3500$ Multi Entry Million Guarantee
390$ Satellites into 3500$

Thursday can not come fast enough. The drive is 6.5 hours to fort lauderdale which blows but its much cheaper than flying and renting a car. I would love to make the 1pm cutoff for buying into the wsop circuit event. Clearly there is a chance this wont happen since I would have to leave Tally by 7am at the latest.
If I miss that then there is a 3pm tournament at Coconut Creek that would definitely be worth playing. It is a 100k guaranteed purple chip bounty. Then they also have the 390$ satellites into the main event.

I made some adjustments to the schedule. Heading down Wednesday night now. Probably going to play 5-10 nl there and play tournaments at Coconut Creek rather than West Palm Beach.
