Hello everybody!

I've been grinding micro stakes at NL for living last ~3 years (up to NL100), but I have decided to finally switch to PLO!

I'm starting at PLO10 and gonna move up to PLO20/25 as soon as I feel more confident with pre flop opening ranges.

My lifetime PLO sample might be ~3-4k hands (of which 2k came from today and Yesterday), but I've aleady put in quite a bit of study hours.

The goal for this thread is to add extra motivation for me, and what is more important - to find people to talk PLO, do sweat sessions etc.

Cannot post any graphs yet as lol sample. Also, I play on several sites and not all of them are tracked.

As for myself, I'm 23 y/o and currently I am preparing for Ironman 70.3 triathlon (2km swimming + 90km cycling + 21km running) with goal of sub 5 hours.

1) Pre - is cold call fine? I expect CO to always limp/call after I flat.

Flop - Obv good flop for me, and a board that will get ton of folds for original raiser with 1/3 PSB, so I'm going for value x/r here as it will not get checked around that often.

Turn - pretty obvious that CO has Tx and I'm going for value bet.

The question is about sizings, should I have sized up a little bit my flop x/r so that I can jam turn? On river it's likely that villain has boated up but what can I do, so I'm more inclined to think that I should have gotten money in on turn as CO is rec and he migh go broke with any Tx, esp if picked up FD too.

1) I think a cold call is fine, especially if CO is sticky PF.

2) I would not go for a c/r on this flop, since its very dry with no draws. Even though we know Original Raiser will cbet paired boards a lot, a c/r on such a dry flop is way too face up. i would have preferred to smooth ch/c OTF, and c/r OTT. I guess it depends on how aggro villain is (barrel tendencies).

As played, given the c/r OTF, I would full POT GII OTT. This is a spot where you're either way ahead (villain has overpair and doesnt know how to fold), or way behind vs 44xx T4xx, T8xx.

Having said that, I'm a micro PLO noob

All right, gonna sum up the first week of my PLO career. Only played PLO10.

Let's start with the graphs I have:
1) Party Poker - running really ****ty there in all aspects.



2) GG network - cannot win allins, otherwise all right. Note, that graph displays rake-free lines, in reality I'm down ~3-4 BI I think.



3) MPN - up 120 eur. No graph as there's no tracking anymore, but I'm above EV couple of BI's.

So overall I finished up a little bit in my first week, while up ~10 BI's EV I guess. + RB. This makes me think I can beat this stake as the games are ridiculously soft, therefore I'll start upping the cheeseburgres to PLO20 where I plan to stay a little bit longer.

What I discovered:
1) People fold a lot. Not really floating much all the way and rarely turning hands into a bluff. Getting a lot of folds when leading rivers with nut blockers etc;
2) Bluffing seems to be easier than at NL;
3) Game is more fun than NL and money is flying around. Very microstakes of NL are nit fest while here it's still fun to play;
4) Variance is much more brutal, can easily run 5 BI below EV in 100 hands.

Tried a test stream Yesterday, but I felt that I cannot really focus on hands while talking yet, so I don't think I'll stream much.

Do you just table select among the multiple sites or switch day to day or what? Seems like a wide variety for just starting out in PLO

Normally I play ~10am-5-6pm from GMT+2, therefore GG works well with my timezone in mornings, but probably gonna drop it as it's 3% uncapped rake and above PLO10 doesn't sound very fun. I want some tracked site so I can work with my stats, therefore Party, and MPN is just the lowest rake. I don't table select PLO10, but gotta mix more than 1 site to get enough tables.

Brutal, fast paced day. Mixed in 2x PLO20+3xPLO10, didn't go too well. Lost 2 or 2.5 BI at PLO20 - 1x just a cooler, 1x stack off in 4bet pot that looks ok-ish at first glance, but after running it thru PPT realized that I had much less equity than needed.

Also, lost 540bb pot, got in 77.5% on turn though.

Pre - I pot, there's a cc, villain sq, I 4bet, ccaller folds, villain calls.
Flop - I cbet 1/8 PSB, villain x/r small-ish, I call.
Turn - villain jams like 0.8 PSB, I snap.


Gonna win 10 BI's at PLO10 before "shooting" at PLO20 again.

Didn't play much this week apart Monday / Tuesday, instead invested into content and have been putting in A LOT of study hours. I expect this to last till Wednesday, and then I'll mix in on table work too. Neverheless, gonna keep play/study ratio under 50/50 in favour of studying till I beast fkn everything!

Finished all material, and got back to PLO streets. Variance is soul crushing so far, again ton of BI's below EV day. Was up 5-6, then just lost everything to finish -7 BI day. Overall I'm happy how I'm improving even though results are not showing it. Really curious how my graph at MPN looks like! I've been held back from reaching my potential at NL due to my performance anxiety, and running bad for long periods of time really hurts me therefore. I started July with ~1k below EV in NL before switching to PLO, and PLO welcomes me with 15-20 BI below EV right way. I'll take it at PLO10 and gonna sun run when uppering cheesburgers!

Anyway, still a lot of work to learn my ranges and lot's of work to do in PLOJuice!

Still cannot win at this game, but I like how I play more and more. Just gotta avoid villains flopping trips/sets in 4bet pots when I have AA and I'll crush them all. Last week I had 100% losing days, yesterday I almost had a winning day but then dropped 8 BI's in ugly fashion. Today was up ~7 BI's at high point, but now I've finished at +50bb's or so.. This game really is soul crushing.

Plan now is to push more volume while still doing plenty of study work.

Meanhwile, my preparation for Half Ironman is going better than poker, especially I've been improving in swimming - aiming for ~30 min time for 1.9km there, which would be 14 min quicker that 3 years ago My strongest side is running where I aim for ~1h25min for half marathon. Cannot cut much time there, so gotta push more on cycling where I can easily cut 20 mins!

This is spewy, you put in over 100bbs with 14% equity in a 4 way pot. You need to do some work to better estimate equities in the big all ins. This was one of my first fixes moving from nl to plo

hey man, I'm on a similar boat, long time lowstakes nl pro learning plo at lowstakes, so far I've logged around 200k of plo25 hands. Unfortunately, Stars took away my rb and I'm not sure if plo25 zoom is even beatable pre-rb, sure, there is a ton of fish, but most of them are just limp-calling nutpeddlers, so it's hard to crush them completely. Still, I'm having a ton of fun, even if PLO can be super frustrating at times.

All the best to you, I will come in to comment on some hands from time to time, though so far the ones you posted seem pretty standard. #1 could be a crying river x/fold if you had just a little bit bigger stack, but you gotta put in that last 5 dollars

Yeah, I was a bit shocked of how little equity I got there, but I shouldn't be. Very likely my wrap is dominated 4way.

Actually ended +2 BI's post RB, casual 10 BI upswing. Finally I enjoyed some kind of heater instead of seeing quads every orbit!

For the first time in a while played in evening as well, apparently games are way softer at Euro networks (while GG is other way around). I'm usually working ~10am-6pm, but I might switch it up at least few days a week where I can do my training in the morning instead of evening (I almost never play poker Sat/Sun).

Also, really considering joining a stable to fasten up moving up limits and to improve my game quicker. I don't really have a roll for PLO50 anymore, and even at PLO20 I'm not gonna be comfortable due to these swings. I've never played staked as I hate to give away juice, but at the moment it seems like the best option.

Time for an update!

I have signed the contract etc with a stable, and hopefully any day now I'll be starting a full deal of staking and coaching. I've made 2 goals for this year as a stable player:

1) Play PLO100 in 2017;
2) Play PLO200 in 2017.

The minimum goal is 1), but it will be a great personal triumph if I achieve 2), and I'll put in a lot of effort to reach it.

I'll be starting at PLO20 right away and try to climb up the ladder asap!

Ironman 70.3 update

Been putting in solid effort for an amatour - keeping a schedule of 2x swim, 2x, cycle and 3x running sessions a week while taking 2 rest days. Swimming is mostly mixed with running (example - swim 1700m (~33 min) and then change and run ~1h right away). Cycling is still killing me , but the good news is that I got my race bike today (~8kg), so gonna test it tomorrow, gotta be a huge boost compared to training bike I had hah.

Also, Rio Olympic Marathon runner gonna join the support team as well, so that's pretty cool. It's important to have someone with a good understanding to help you in the Race day. 1 month to go!

Been a while since update, so just gonna go ahead and post my graphs.

1. Last 2 weeks of August (real hand count is ~*3 as only the hands I VPIP are saved).



2. September (again, hand count is ~*3)



All action is PLO20 so far. Lots of room for improvements, and I am improving. I hope I get to play PLO50 too in October.

Successfuly finished my Ironman 70.3 19th place out of 130. Time wise not sub 5, but the cycling route was just insanely tough as 40km out of 90 was steep uphill. Next year again!

2. Started mixing in PLO50 since 23rd. Correct EV/100 is ~6.5bb/100, so I'm happy with that.



1. Really good month not because of running good, but because I reached both of my volume / study goals despite being away first week of the month.

2. Improved my game a lot, and there are a lot more aspects to easily improve.

1. 110h of play [ ];
2. 40h of study [ ];
3. Improve my study efficiency (gonna be tough to evaluate) [ ];
4. 20 workouts (running / swimming / core - everything counts) [ ];
5. 150 pages of non poker related literature [ ];
6. Improve my sleeping habits (wake up earlier) in order to "get **** done" till 6pm [ ].
