November

1. 110h of play [X] - 128h;
2. 40h of study [X] - 48h;
3. Improve my study efficiency (gonna be tough to evaluate) [ ] - Probably failed. I got in my hours, bet efficiency is far from perfect.;
4. 20 workouts (running / swimming / core - everything counts) [ ] - 12. Was probably set unrealisticaly as it's off season with no competitions or motivation whatsoever;
5. 150 pages of non poker related literature [X] - 153. It just so happened that number was set just to finish the book I had started;
6. Improve my sleeping habits (wake up earlier) in order to "get **** done" till 6pm [X] - Waking up a bit past 8am (switching to winter time helped). Games start to run at 10am, so there isn't a big need to wake up earlier than that.

So I failed with my goal.

1. Real hand count is ~42k.

2. Stakes

1. Wanted to be just a winning reg at PLO50 in Nov, so that I achieved with my 2.7 bb/100 EV. What you cannot see in graph/stake breakdown is that I dropped 1000 bb's playing PLO50 HU in just 3k hands while running extremely poor. 80% of those were vs whales and my expectation would be to be up some 3-500 bb's in those hands. Discarding that - I crushed PLO50 3h-6h with 6.5bb/100 EV.

2. Feeling confident at 3-6 handed games (last month most of winnings came from HU, and was BE/slight winning player apart HU).

3. My biggest winning month ever $ wise (post RB).

4. Was running poorly all month apart last week when the heat was insane.

Goals for December:

1) 110h of play (gonna take days off (maybe even full week) for Christmas / New Year) [ ];

2) 40h of study [ ];

3) 15 work outs [ ];

4) 150 pages of non poker related literature [ ].

Gl to everyone! PLO100 - I'm coming!

December review:

1) 110h of play (gonna take days off (maybe even full week) for Christmas / New Year) [ ]; 85h

2) 40h of study [ ]; 30h

3) 15 work outs [X]; 15

4) 150 pages of non poker related literature [X] 157 pages.

Failed pretty hard with my play/study goals. Underestimated number of days I'd be taking off, but that cannot be an excuse - fail is a fail nonetheless.

1) Graph, probably ~30k hands.

2) Stakes;

+ made ~250eur in HU hypers using my non cashable loyalty points.

1) Just as previous month, lost a bunch playing HU while 3-6h wr is still solid at ~6bb/100.

2) Failed with overall 2017 goal to play PLO100, but came super close - would be playing it unless Christmas break. Good news - I'll be playing PLO100 since today, so just 2 days late.

3) Improved well in those areas I set out to improve.

Overall my PLO project has been success so far - 2018 gonna be big for me! It must be.

January goals:

1) 130h of play [ ];
2) 40h of study [ ];
3) 15 work outs [ ];
4) 175 pages of non poker related literature [ ];
5) Adjust my routine to PLO100 pool (games are not running in mornings) - 30h of play past 6pm (my timezone) [ ].

Will add in overall 2018 goals as well later today.

I bought PLO University, but it doesn't cover tons of situations, so that + investing in coaching / mentoring would be a good start. There's a lot of free sh it around that will eat away your time. For me the main improvement actually isn't poker related - it's goal setting and dealing with procrastination / performance anxiety that had held me back for too long.
About stable name - I want to stay off the grid, so not gonna reveal.

Played PLO100 for the first time and played (lost) my new biggest pot ever! But so far level doesn't seem much different than PLO50.

Goals 2018

1. Positive EV win rate at PLO200 (preferably higher);
2. Move around the Globe starting from October (lenght of stay depending on visa policy);
3. Learn to cook 2 new meals a month (or TOT 24);
4. Attend 1 clultural event a month (or TOT of 12);
5. Learn my 4th language (Spanish seems a decent pick regarding goal number 2);
6. Read 2100 pages of non poker related literature.

There probably gonna be more, but these are 6 hard goals that I will aim for. No monetary / volume goals. I'll set volume goal for each month individually. Only 1 goal is poker related, yet they are all related ultimately. 2018 is when I make my breakthrough!

Thanks! And good to hear that this thread interests anyone.

I'm a beginer myself but here are 3 pointers:
1. Play in room with lowest rake and find a decent RB deal;
2. Don't mass table;
3. Get odds oracle or similar soft and play with numbers / scenarios a lot.

January review

1) 130h of play [ ]; 103h
2) 40h of study [X]; 41h
3) 15 work outs [ ]; 14
4) 175 pages of non poker related literature [X]; 360 pages
5) Adjust my routine to PLO100 pool (games are not running in mornings) - 30h of play past 6pm (my timezone) [X] 35h.

1) Graph, ~35k hands

2) Stakes (again, hands are x 2 and a bit more) (+1 BI missing from PLO100 as got disconnected in hand)

+ ~100e from HU hypers

As you can see, finally hit a ****ty month. Been pretty smooth sail so far, so this was just to be expected. Running well in all ins / having aids run at 50 instead of 100 are really nice of course.

Had some burn out / lost motivation mid month (~10k hand in graph), did a lot of auto pilot play and I cannot beat these games yet when doing that.

But yeah, overall just saw nuts everywhere and getting unfortunate rivers. What can you do.

Excluding mornings / playing evenings is pretty terrible. Both for productivity and actualy having a life outside poker.

Even though this month was bad, still made decent money (I don't live in 1st world country, so even 1k/month is really good). And had my first ever +1k day!

February goals:

1) 120h play [ ];
2) 40h study [ ];
3) 15 work outs [ ];
4) 150 pages of literature [ ];

Gonna be a wild month one way or another as I'll be adding another room and therefore having 80%+ of my action at PLO100!

February

1) 120h play [X]; 122
2) 40h study [X]; 44
3) 15 work outs [X]; 16
4) 150 pages of literature [ ]; 102

(real hand count is ~35k)

+100e from HU hypers

So, what happened was that my downswing that started in mid-January continued and I found myself 2k eur in hole. I cannot blame variance for that - I also was doing a lot of autopiloting on top, which resulted me playing (RFI'ing) really nittty and therefore bleeding EV.

We detected the problem, I dropped to PLO50 at Party just to get stats on myself and really crushed that stake. Then moved back to 100 for most part, won a bit there but then my upswing came to an end.

Anyway, still making profit after 55 BI downswing and being 2k in a hole, I cannot complain!

March goals:

1) 120h play / 40h study;
2) Don't play session longer than 90' unless there is an extraordinary whale;
3) Quit playing if feeling tired / losing focus (browsing internet on other screen etc);
4) 15 work outs;
5) 150 pages of literature.

I improved my A game A TON last month and I believe that I can truly crush PLO100 line ups when I'm playing my best game. Therefore, making sure I play my A game is cruicial. No snap decisions that I don't think thru is the main habit to cut down.

I might start updating this thread more regulary if there is an interest. I assumed (and probably correctly) that no one would give a **** about microstakes, so now at PLO100 there should be more traction. Will see.

GL everyone!

It's hard to tell, really. So much depends on actual line up and how much effort you are willing to put into table selecting. Both rooms are beatable but you have to keep in mind rake situation.

MARCH

As I'm done with the month and about to leave for my Easter holidays, I may as well update.

1) 120h play / 40h study; [ ] 95h/34h
2) Don't play session longer than 90' unless there is an extraordinary whale; [X]
3) Quit playing if feeling tired / losing focus (browsing internet on other screen etc); [X]
4) 15 work outs; [X] 18 (planned)
5) 150 pages of literature. [ ] I'm at 100 with 3 more days do go. Unlikely gonna hit..

1) Graph - total hand count is ~25k

2) Stakes ( it's 3k$ profit btw)

1) Failed with my volume goals.
2) Was frustrated for most of the month. My mental game is where I can improve the most. I didn't reach my volume goals due to these mental issues.
3) Made an effort to be focused at tables - closed my tabs at 2nd screen as soon I realized I had opened fb/etc. Also played fewer tables in general - just 3-4, sometimes even 2 tabling. I'm not looking to extract the most EV out of my play time just yet - I want to keep improving my game and move up! When I settle in stake, then I can start adding extra tables. But for now - play my best and gain confidence!
4) Got lazy with studying - not enough my own calcs. Must change my study time back in favour of cals > videos.
5) With 8bb/100 EV at PLO100 I'm finally confident that I CAN and ALREADY AM crushing this limit! There are still a lot to improve, but that's a neverending cycle. A couple more tweaks and I WILL CRUSH PLO200 in no time!

Couple of things I've noticed I do when my mental game is off:

1) I oversleep. Not setting alarm and not getting out of my bed. Which leads to feeling tired all day ---> not playing A game ---> MORE FRUSTRATION;
2) Not studying after bad days. Feeling "**** poker" and not pushing myself to put in daily study hours. And if I do, they are low quality hours.
3) I'm still struggling with my performance anxiety - I tend to play longer hours (full schedule) in losing days and am playing less hours in winning days. I know that doesn't make any logical sense as just like most, I play better when am winning and the other way around, therefore this is VERY costly mental leak. BUT HOW DO I FIX IT?

Also I'm probably getting a little bit burnt out / borderline depression state as I've let my social life slip away in favour of this quick acceleration in PLO, but that's what I chose to do in order to reach PLO200, so gonna try to ride it a litttle bit more and then take it easier in Summer.

April goals:

1) 120h play;
2) 40h study. At least 20h my own calcs;
3) 18 workouts - gotta start increasing this number as season is coming and I do plan to compete a little bit (running);
4) No oversleeping;
5) Start meditate / mindfulness. No idea how to do as I've never done it, so not gonna set targets just jet. Hopefully it can help my mental game;
6) No distractions while playing.

Thanks!

My thread here is barely 2 pages and it's easy to see when I started. I started PLO seriously in ~August/September 2017. The main tip is just to study a ton, and study efficiently - don't just mass table and then write off the losses on running bad.

I don't play GG, I don't believe that rake is beatable. I play MPN/Party.

What do you call a session? I mean if I play 90 min, then have 5-10 min break and play 90 min more, it's 2x90 min sessions for me. And if there is a sweet spot at the table I play longer (although I tend to cut table count even more). But yeah, I don't normally play 90+ without breaks. Avg would be ~5h/day of play and 2h study, although I guess it's time to cut a bit into study and increase play time.

Thanks a lot!

I do have a mentor / coach who points out which parts of the game I should dig into. So if we come to conclusion that I have to improve my game in 3BP's, I'll review those spots mostly and do a lot of calcs on them covering different boards etc, and also pay extra attention to those areas when watching training videos. And then to next are and so on. Other than that I don't have exact schedule for studying (apart 20h of calcs that I inclueded in April goals). When review HH's, always do range vs range and find tresholds for different actions. I don't have any fancy soft, just propokertools.

      Anyway, lost the pot obv and it looks kinda spewy, but BB was in real gambool mode and it was kind of unexpected to see that CO slowplayed naked made hand 4way.. I guess I could have manipulated EV a little by calling flop to fold spades / 5 and would just ship this turn. But meh, I'm ahead of their ranges so whatever.
