I guess I am late with an update

OCTOBER

My first month in Philippines grind. Volume sucked, but ran good. Been trying to find my best work schedule - I don't want to work during late evenings / nights, so I'm scraping to find action from around 1200 and finishing till 2000 - this allows me to have some social life and fun. Also, I somewow managed to catch a bad case of tonsillitis in this tropical climate - been on antibiotics for past 10 days. Right now I'm feeling sore throat once again, and I'm a bit scared that the cycle will start all over again..

Anyway, back to poker. As of now I've dropped PLO20 completely as I'm no longer underrolled for PLO50.

Also, I started to mess around with untracked app poker. Just 1 tabling while being staked there. Played 2k hands of PLO55-65, won ~400 eur.

I just moved out of Manila and settled in Cebu. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna enjoy it more here as it's WAY closer to beaches / islands, and I'm living in a prime location, few steps away from epic food market / restaurants and bars. Condo ain't as nice tho (but cheaper).

Heyy, just got back from 2 day trip to an island. It was really cool! I don't take much pictures myself, but I'll ask my companion to send me hers, then I'll post some.

Women - yeah it's quite crazy here.. banging on the balcony with that view was something special.

how much u paying for your condo? I wish I had gone for Cebu instead of Manila. have u played any live poker?

Yeah Cebu feels like a much better choice! I rent from Airbnb on monthly basis, so I'm paying a bit more than it should be. Right now I'm paying 400 eur/mo for the studio all bills inclusive, but as I mentioned, it's not fancy at all. I'll be moving into a nicer unit at the same building at the end of the month, it's 500 eur/mo or a bit more. So I'm paying pretty much the same price as in Manila, where I had really nice condo in not so nice location.

Live poker - haven't played any, been in casino like twice in my life. I got a casino nearby now, but I don't think there are any poker games.

I've spent 100s of hours studying PLO. Videos, DB work, running spots in ppt, sims, coaching, trial and error. 4 cards is more fun than 2 cards

Ahh, no, never tried it. I do have tinder now, but I don't use it that often - there is way more "action" than I can handle (I think I match with 90-95% of girls I swipe right, and I'm not swiping right often at all).

Maybe. But I think those type of girls try to angle older guys (I'm just 25), and none of the girls I've met have asked for anything, not even to book their cab. Some even treat me dinner / drinks / cab etc. Like the girl I went to the island, we split expenses. But who knows, maybe it's a part of the angle lol

I went to an island with a lady friend Sunday morning. Plan was to go back Monday evening, but as we arrived at the port, turned out there is a typhoon and all operations are cancelled. Following day - same story. Had to spend 2 extra nights on the island while it's raining and no fun at all. Rip poker volume.

Nah I don't feel like that after winning 10+ BI's. I feel bad for a short while when losing tho. I saw a mental game training video a while ago where hero compared poker to alpinism. It's cruicial for alpinists to keep alert and think of solutions of everything that can go bad while it's perfect conditions (sunny and no wind), and on the other hand, stay optimistic when conditions are bad - this way they can avoid being euphoric / depressed. I've been trying to stick with this logic and it's pretty good.

What's up with the redhorse? Whenever I ask some local which is the best Philippino beer, answer always is redhorse. Yet it tastes really bad (8% extra strong beer). I think the locals like it cuz they can get drunk quicker / cheaper, but who knows.

December started off really well! Been mixing PLO100 since yesterday

+400-600 EUR on app in 1.5k hands (I get 50% of profit). 90h of play.

Yeah, so I was a bit lucky in all ins, but I ran fortune below expectation in big 4bet pots where SPR on flop is 1-2. Anyway, this means I'm back at PLO100! This time I'm playing on my own dime. I'll sill be mixing PLO50/100, but I'll try to have 50%+ volume at 100 (if my BR allows to play it). I've been playing more and more HU, and gotta admit that I really enjoy this format! I can battle for many hours straight without urge to quit / take a break etc. I'm considering adding another site to increase my HUPLO volume.

Life: I moved from Manila to Cebu city. The location I'm living in is pretty much the nuts! This is the fancy part of city with parks, clean streets and 100's of restaurants / bars around me, ranging from cheap eateries where I can get quick lunch for 1.5 eur just 1 min walk away, to pretty much anything else you desire. Even in fancy restaurants it's hard to spend more than 10 eur per person. Also, here I have green views with mountains in one side and sea on the other side - very different from concrete jungle of Manila.

How cheap it is in Philippines? If you think you can come here and live like a king for 500 eur/mo, it's not gonna happen. Rent for a studion in prime location is 500 eur in Cebu, 800-1k in Manila. Everything else is cheaper in Cebu city as well, so choosing Cebu over Manila is pretty much a no brainer. I spent ~1.4k eur last month, which includes 400 rent, 2x weekent trips to islands (last one had to extend due to typhoon, hotel is ~25 eur/night), eating out pretty much twice a day, ~200 eur shopping clothes / other non food stuff, 150 eur 2 month visa (after 2 month in country you get your first real visa, and it's the most expensive extension of all. Next month I won't have to spend anything). You get the picture. I will try to spend less in December, I don't want to exceed 1.2k eur budget or preferably even less.

December poker goals: 105h of play, 20h of study time.

I've finally found a good schedule where I can get my volume with having free evenings - I'm waking up 8-9am and I'm grinding till 11am - then games dry up. Then lunch or second breakfast, workout and I can resume playing at around 1400. I haven't put in too much time in studying lately as my priority was to grind up my roll so I can get back to PLO100, but now when it's achieved, I must get back to studying as well.

I currrently play pl4 on mpn find the majority of my profit comes from starting tables and sitting aggro tards.. I started with 10 buy ins last Sunday and now have 55 buy ins..

Could be a standard spot but I’m struggling with what to do with hands like AQdd44sc on the button where UTG limps, I pot, big blind 3 bets small and UTG flats.. wtf do I do? I feel it’s too nitty to fold given price but feel I’m only good on diamond flops, QQx, 477,4T2 etc.. Is it simply a case of playing fit or fold?
