Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Getting donked into a lot lately lol. Just had this hand

H2: bad run out.

Table is a lot of OMC so I have to size down pre to get action.

Hero opens to $8 with AKss, OMC button and agro Asian kid in Northwestern sweatshirt calls. I've played with him for a lot of hours, at least 3 different times.

Flop:KJ3r.

He leads for $15, given that he doesn't have to have it I consider raising but I opt to flat and will just be willing to call down.

Turn T.

Wow really ****ty turn card. He bets $30, I maybe should probably let it go here but I opt to call.

River 9.

RIP. He bets $70 and I fold.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

10 hours played up $77. Played well, made a few too many mistakes during my prior sleep deprived session but today was back to normal. Couldn't make many hands but I ran fine overall. Games were really nitty and short stacked today, table changed twice but nothing was good. The last table I played the standard preflop raise was $5 and even that didn't garner much action. I was literally making it $8 over a limp and getting folds.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

This game might have been worth the almost 2 hour wait. Third hand of the session. Hero opens to $8, villain min 3 bets to $16 I call. Flop A66 two diamonds. I lead for $20 he calls. Turn A. I bet $60 he calls with about $35 behind. River is an offsuit 7. Check check.

Villain shows 44.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Blah maybe I should've check called.

H1:
Hero checks the BB with 8c9d 6 ways.

Flop 567r.

Hero bets 15 villain calls from CO.

Turn Qh brings bd flush draw.

Hero bets $30 villain calls.

River Kh.

Pot:105.

Hero bets $50, villain shoves for $100 total. Hero calls.

Villain shows 59hh.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Looking like I'm having one of those kind of days.

H2:

3 limps. Hero opens to $15 with AKo in the HJ, button and limpers flat.

Flop:A65r.

Pot:$60

Hero bets $40, button jams for $80 the others fold, hero calls.

Villain shows 55.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I should bet smaller? The other players were at least $200 deep with me, it was just the button that was short.

I'm just getting frustrated I think that I can't post better results. I feel like I really am making good decisions and I'm just getting coolered but I don't know.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Today hasn't been good for my health, at least it's been 1/2.

H3: The donk to the rescue.

A couple limps, hero completes 44 in the SB. BB checks. EP limper is a massive donk, BB is a rec player but not completely clueless. Saw him 3 bet me earlier so the result of this hand was really surprising

Flop: KKTr. Ccccc.

Turn 4. Hero bets $12, BB calls, donk raises to $25 with $100 behind. I raise to $60, BB now ships it and he covers both of us. Donk calls. I tank for a minute or two and call for $125 more. BB shows AK, donk shows 55. River bricks. Hero wins.

I was trying to figure out how he shows up with a big king that just checked pre. I thought KQ and KJ were possible but it was tough to put AK in his range given preflop whereas the KT and K4 is always there. KT was also more consistent with a flop check which is why I didn't snap.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

9 hours played up $984

Had a pretty aggressive image at a table of people who hated to fold and then I got hit in the face with the deck. Not a bad combination. The guy who raised and got it in 3 ways on KKT-4 with 55 definitely helped. Also had a guy who was out to get me and calling me down super light flat me pre for $17 with 9To and then I coolered him with 99 on a T-x-x-9 board.

Had to wait almost 2 hours to get a table today but ended up being well worth the wait. Day was pretty wild on the whole, kept going up a couple hundred then down a couple hundred for the first few hours but then just started getting some run good.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

I understand Hammond being busy on a Saturday at 2:00 and having a tournament going, but it's Sunday and I got here at 10:30 and I've been waiting 1.5 hours for a 1/2 or 2/5 table. This is rediculous. Definitely going to be doing some weekends at Potowatomi again.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Interesting start to the day.

Hero opens +1 to $8 with AhQc at a passive tight table. Woman calls in the sb and BB calls.

Flop:Ac Ks 9c.

Pot$22

Sb looks interested but checks. BB leads for $50 with $150 behind. Whatever maybe heads up but with a woman looking interested in the sb I'm gonna fold and wait to see how this guy plays.

Woman snap shoves and he calls. She shows 99 for the set lol.

Just saw this thread. Not sure where you're located, saw your playing Hammond a bit...have You played Rockford Charitable at all? Been awhile since I played but was hands down the softest $2/5 around back in 2012ish.

I do play there some, I've been meaning to give there 2/5 a try so I'll probably do that in the next week or two. Thanks!

Good job locking up the 900. Keep trying to lock wins. This is very important. Don’t try to “hit $500” or “leave once I clear 1k”. Just, the second you’re not feeling it and up a buy in, leave.

Not sure how Hammond works but if it’s always the same crew sometimes a few red birds and a smile go a long way. At one small room I got to where the host would seat change me to a good table without me even asking, lol.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Sunday results:9 hours played down $12. Pretty card dead all day, nothing interesting to discuss. Had to wait 2 hours again for a table which was unfortunate. Took Monday and Tuesday off and I'm back at it today.

Got a pretty good part time job offer to do some legal work for my friend's company so I'll probably take him up on it, going to have to fly out to NY this weekend to discuss the details. Probably will only be a 5-10 hour a week commitment, I'll make some good connections if I want to go back into law and it will give me some money to put into my 2/5 bankroll.

Thanks. It's a pretty big room so they have a lot of staff working the desk and it's always changing. That does sound like a nice little perk though and a worthwhile investment in your case. When there was that whale at commerce who blind shoves I'm pretty sure people bribe the floor to get into that game because I would routinely get bumped and passed over on the table change list.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Card dead at a pretty juicy game. Unfortunately it's just the type of game where you have to have it, no one is folding. People are calling down and donking with overcards and second pair, 3 betting QJo for no reason etc. Almost all the play is just button clicking.

Just saw this hand: open to 10 with KQs, call, guy with 24o calls. BB 3 bets to 30 all call. Board runs out JJ4-x-x and 2-4 takes it down after it checks through.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Apparently the new meta here is to limp min reraise and/or min 3 bet 22-88. Keep seeing that lately.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Limp limp open to 12 call call. Flop 662r. Checks to PFR who bets $20, raise to $75, guy calls and is all in for $70. First limper shows TT, second shows 44. Unfortunate time to be card dead and missing flops.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Made a horrendous fold with AQ on Q62r. He opened to 13 pre and then bet $75 into 3 people with $45 in the pot and I just put him on an overpair and let it go. He showed up with Q9o. He had been opening smaller with his worse hands previously and bigger with his stronger hands. But there is no excuse, this is way way too nitty and frankly embarrassing but I'm going to post it here anyway since it's important. So pretty big mistake there but I'll learn for next time. The rest of my decision making today and lately has been good but that hand stings.

H2

The good news is someone slowplaying and then overplaying allowed me to get stacks in. Guy with the Q9 opens to $7 UTG, I 3 bet with TT to $21 UTG+1. UTG+2 flats and UTG flats.

Flop: KT9 two tone.

Po:$58.

I bet $45, UTG+2 shoves for like $250. UTG folds and I make the call for $180 total.

UTG+2 shows AA and I have my set hold up.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Hmmm. H3:

Maybe should've squeezed here. 2 limps, +2 opens to $8. One call by a guy in the HJ who is super wide. I look down at AJo in the CO and call. AJs I definitely feel like I'm squeezing against this lineup and action. We go 6 to the flop:

AT3r. PFR bets 26 I call and blind calls. Turn 5. Bb donks huge, I think it was $120, call, I fold. They had A5 and AT respectively. River was the J but the fold was correct.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Got a good situation going right now. I'm getting to just have it at a table full of people who can't fold second pair. Up a little over $700 right now, would be really crushing it if I didn't fold the AQ. On the positive side, I've made other good folds, one good call down, and have really pushed for max value.

My goal for this week was to get more 2/5 into the rotation but if the 1/2 keeps being this good it's hard to walk away from. The games have been so good since I've been back from Vegas.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

Results: 8.5 hours played, up $613.

Game is still good but it's almost 1:00 and I got a long drive home so I'm just going to call it a night. I plan on playing tomorrow and Friday so don't want to **** with my sleep schedule too much.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

First table was pretty poor, too nitty to be able to make any kind of real hourly. I've gotten a lot better at profiting against people who play loose passive pre and nitty post but everyone was playing reasonably tight pre at this table which makes it much harder.

There was some internet kid who got accidentally slow rolled twice which was kinda amusing for me but I'm sure tilting for him. The only non-nit was just clicking buttons with jacks and 3 barreled on a Q73-7-2 board and when he got called on the river said "good call". I don't blame internet kid if he had like 99 or TT because it sure as hell looked like a bluff.

Then someone pulled one of my favorite 1/2 moves. He bet the J high flush, the third nuts on the board, and when he got called he says "well if you called I must be behind". Then why did you bet! Internet kid mucks.

If the second table isn't great will probably give 2/5 a shot. Hopefully the run good continues today, last weekend got that really juicy game and yesterday I flopped 3 sets with pocket 8's lol and of course had that TT vs slowplayed aces hand.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

H1: Moby Dick has arrived.

UTG+1 limps KTo, BB checks J9. Pot$5.

Flop:599r. Cc.

Turn: K.

BB bets $5. Whale jams for $75, call.

He also min 3 bet J8o and then got it in with someone on AJ4 when the person decided it would be a good idea to try to bluff this guy.

I would've cracked the whale for $200 with a low suited ace but some guy decided to jam 55 pre for no reason. The whale makes a straight, I would've made a flush, and the guy with 55 gets up and leaves.

I won a few off him but most of his $500 donation went elsewhere.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

H2: I feel guilty.

Ugh there is this older guy here who has no idea what he's doing. He's not senile, he's just beyond horrendous. He's an African American guy, dressed in bulls attire, and is over 70. Maybe he has money and I shouldn't feel bad, but I've just been honestly wishing he would get up and go. Anyway, on to the hand.

Hero opens QQ to $10, old whale makes it $30 OTB with 55, he's been doing this all day with random hands pre so decided not to 4 bet, I'll just let him spew.

Flop is KKQr. He bets $30 I call. Turn 8. He bets $40, I'm not going to risk him checking back river so I make it $100, he calls. River is a brick and I shove for his last $50 and he calls.

I wish I could drag him out of here. It's not often I'm rooting for a whale to leave but all night I've just wanted him to go.

Re: Talking my shot at becoming a live pro.

10 hours played, up $350.

Played well, ran well, games were really soft as per usual. Probably missed about $60 of value over the course of the day, but I got my one big bluff through and overall I'm happy with how it went. That old guy ended up taking $100 off me after hitting a runner runner flush with 2-4 so now I don't even feel guilty for taking the $200 off him lol.

A lot of traffic so got a late start on the day and ended up staying until 3:00 because the game was really good. Definitely paid off because I was only up about $100 going into the last two hours. Plan is to play tomorrow but I'm going to be off on Saturday.
