Hi everyone, I'm new here so no one knows me, but I'm a brazilian guy, 26, and I've been playing poker since 18 or something, and, even though im not a winner player, i really love this game.

First of all, english is not my first language, so it won't be perfect written.

Lately I've been really thinking about taking a shot to really study the game and grind online/live games, but never really did it, because, you know, there is always a 'fear and pressure' that i'm gonna fail.

FAST INTRODUCTION ABOUT MY SITUATION:

I own, with 2 partners, a small business that provides my monthly income, and I decided that, for at least the next year, I will take a shot in poker. So, instead of working 9/5 (even more, actually) in my company, I'm gonna work part time and we will hire someone to do the rest of my job (we don't really know how it will work, but it will be something like this). Of course this will result in a decrease in my salary, but hopefully the company will stay healthy.

So, starting in january, i will be working at my company in the morning (smt around 8am to 12:30pm), and than i will have the rest of my day do dedicate to this game. In worst scenario, after 1 year of this post, i will be back in my work desk (as i am right now) writting in this own post that it didn't work out for me.

WHY I AM DOING IT

Well, like I said befere, i really really love this game. But, more than that, i'm doing this because what it could achieve for me. I would really like to have freedom in my life (which, belive me, owning your own business don't necessary give to you), play in different countrys, meet new people, and do something that i really love.

MY GOAL:

I know that it's really hard to become a real pro player, and that's not my main goal, at least for now.

So, what I expect for the next year:

1) Read books/Watch videos: Right now I'm reading The Grinders Manual (would like to know what you guys think about the book). I pretend to read Harrington on online cash games; 6-max NLHE and the GTO book. Also, I follow some youtube channels like doug's polk and split suit. Well, if you guys want to recommend something or think thats not a good way to start, I would REALLY love to hear about it.

2) Get familiar with solvers tools and poker tracker.

3) Play a lot of 6-max NLHE on PokerStars. Can't really say how many hands p/ day, since i want to start with less tables (maybe even 2), trying to aply as much as I can what i'm learning. I'm starting with U$ 200,00 bankroll, and i pretend to play 5NL.

4) If i think i'm making good progress, maybe start to think about take some of this courses (Upswing/RYE).

WHAT WOULD BE A PERFECT RESULT

Well, if i'm able to, after one year, be a winner player at 100NL, it would be a dream coming true for me. I'm not saying that if i acomplish this i will drop everthing and become a full time poker player, but, if i keep improving and, at some point i see i can pay my bills with poker earnings, i will surelly do it.

Any advise I will really appreciate!! Thanks you all and GL for everyone!

The best way to build up a roll is to invest in learning/practice while building up a bankroll in soft 1/3-2/5 live games, where you can make decent money and improve along side each other.

Often people trying to grind up the micros could lose confidence in themselves when they were actually good enough to become a pro simply because of the raketrap. I would say 50nl+ online is ideal place to start once you feel your skills are ready from micro practice+live. GL.
Thanks for subbing, I will be updating here my progress. For the next month I dont really know how much I will be able to study/play, but in January I will try to post in a daily basis, or smt like that, if i see people is interested.

About playing 5NL, thanks for your advice. I think i will play this stakes trying to aply what i'm leraning, until i'm confident enough that i have a shot on 50NL+.

Cheers
