Hello everyone!

As the title says: It's been years since I was playing poker regularly. I think I quit in 2010/2011 and played a few hands online and some live games from time to time since then, just for fun, without any goals in mind.
This year somehow I began to think about taking another more serious look at poker, therefore I decided that now, in August, I'll use the 30 days trial version of HM2, this site and a few $ to give it a go and see how things are going. At the end of August, I'll decide if I'm willing to invest more time in poker again.

I won't have that much time to play so there won't be any tryhard goals. I'm pretty relaxed about it and my only goals for August are:
- not having lost money at the end of the month
- reading and posting stuff on this site
- reading a poker book if time allows it

What and where will be played?
- PokerStars
- NL10 FR
- most likely 6 to 8 tables, maybe more if things are going fine

Comments are always welcome of course!

So... due to a cancelled appointment I had some time to play my first hands in August and boy, what a sh*tty start. Lost ~2 buy-ins in 548 hands. There weren't really any big pots but losing small ones over time sums up aswell.

Let's have a look at a hand that I'm still unsure about:

#1

    BTN: $10 (100 bb)

Hello everyone, time flies and I notice: between work, gym and meeting people there is not much time for playing poker, which sucks! Things seemed to be easier when I was a student...

Also kids, here is some advice for you:
Don't play poker when you are really (REALLY!) tired!

Knowing I wouldn't have any time before today I decided to play some poker last Thursday night although I was really super f*cking tired. Not just did I almost fall asleep during that session, I also, completely braindead, tilted a stack away and whenever I watch this hand now, it makes me wanna facepalm multiple times. At first I didn't want to post that hand here but on second thought: Why actually not? Let's give this thread some (stupid) content.

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 8 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #37935459

      MP1: $12.29 (122.9 bb)
      MP2: $10 (100 bb)
      MP3: $10 (100 bb)
      CO: $20.13 (201.3 bb)
      Hero (BTN): $10 (100 bb)
      SB: $11.55 (115.5 bb)
      BB: $14.75 (147.5 bb) - unknown
      UTG+2: $14.61 (146.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 4 4
5 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, SB folds, BB raises to $0.90, Hero calls $0.60
Maybe just folding to the 3-bet would have been the best here, I'm not quite sure to be honest. My thoughts while playing this hand were something like: "Maybe he is trying to re-steal with probably anything. Since I have only 44 I don't wanna play a big pot yet, so I call and decide what to do on the flop", I guess...

      Flop: ($1.85) 7 7 J (2 players)
BB bets $1.18, Hero calls $1.18
I don't know why I just called it. Maybe I considered it to be a simple c-bet and planned to bet the turn if he should check. Could have been the idea but I don't know anymore.

      Turn: ($4.21) A (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3, BB raises to $6.45, Hero raises to $7.92 and is all-in, BB calls $1.47
An ace appears, he checks and for a moment I was thinking:"yep, got him!" I put in a serious looking bet and my already very tired face gets a bit more tired when I see him re-raise. I'm beat and I know it. Whatever he holds on his hand beats me and the bet size makes it clear that it is no air since he could never fold now if I push.
BUT: Tired and now tilted as I was, I did not fold...

      River: ($20.05) 6 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

      Results: $20.05 pot ($0.90 rake)
      Final Board: 7 7 J A 6
Hero showed 4 4 and lost (-$10 net)
      BB showed A A and won $19.15 ($9.15 net)

That's what happens when you play poker being super tired. So just don't.

Today I finally played another session (with a clear mind this time) and got some $ back. There were no interesting hands whatsoever and I wanna play a few more hands before I'll post a first graph.

Cheers mates! I just finished a breakeven session that made me wonder if I'm currently playing too nitty (yes... I think so...). I'm 15/11/2.4 over ~1.2k hands which is okay I'd say but let's have a look at two hands that happened today:

        MP2: $10 (100 bb)

        BTN: $10.93 (109.3 bb)
        SB: $10 (100 bb)
        BB: $21.63 (216.3 bb)
        MP1: $25.63 (256.3 bb) - 64/45/2.6 - 33 hands

        Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q A
        MP1 raises to $0.20, MP2 folds, Hero calls $0.20, CO calls $0.20, 3 folds

        Flop: ($0.75) A 4 6 (3 players)
MP1 bets $0.36, Hero calls $0.36, CO folds

        Turn: ($1.47) Q (2 players)
        MP1 bets $1.40, Hero calls $1.40

My question here is: Raise turn? I didn't raise flop because of CO and didn't raise turn because I expected him - due to his stats - to bet river aswell but probably scaring him away with a turn raise. Thinking about it now I'd definitely raise turn for getting some $ into the pot with this hand, there is no reason for playing passive.

Bet turn? Now I'd clearly say: Of course! There is no way that turn card was any help for him and looking at his stats I'd say he has no hand that beats me. I don't see him raise/call a 3-bet pre with X7, 44, 22 or AA and I beat anything else. So yes, you idiotic stranger, throw some money into that pot!!!

So... I'd say I clearly have a leak here that won't let me get the most from my good hands if I don't fix this.

          Hello everyone!

To make it short: Not much going on.
For the first time after my horrible start I'm finally above the breakeven line, but in general I have to say that I play far too few hands. 1653 hands in 13 days... I used to play 2k hands a day back then, but somehow I'm not catching fire anymore to grind like crazy. Well, let's see how things look like at the end of the month.

For now, let's have a look at the current graph:

I'm a bit concerned about the red line. That's almost 2 stacks in less than 2k hands.

Could it be that betting 1/2 pot is the new donkbet?
