Re: Success, Sobriety, and Financial Freedom: Out of Poker Retirement and back to Mid/Hi Stakes

Wow bro pay your debts back. Iíve been sober for 17 years and went thru the same stuff. Make amends. Pay your debts for your damages of your past and recover. Sad to learn about this and agree guy doesnít owe you any favors. Lost my respect for sure. Do the right thing imo.

Not a good look to only address this after public attention is drawn to it again. The old adage about about doing the right thing when noone is watching springs to mind. Of course people should be judged on the totality of their actions not just one but this certainly casts a different light on some of the great posts OP has written.

Re: Success, Sobriety, and Financial Freedom: Out of Poker Retirement and back to Mid/Hi Stakes

I should have been more clear when I wrote that all up. Maybe I didn’t make it clear enough, I came into sobriety deep in debt and poker didn’t start going well for me until this year. As I’ve mentioned I don’t care what people’s opinions are on the matter, and I could care less to read about people making their own assumptions about what I should or shouldn’t have done to this point, I’ve had 8 years of stuff to take care of from those years. Not like anyone asked and I don’t feel the need to defend myself further but my plan has been to pay it off after 2020 tax season.

I’ll just ask that the mods lock my thread, not going to back-and-forth about this any more.

The only question I have, and you owe me nothing, not even an answer if you don’t want, but did you really say this:

"I started robbing drug dealers by 'moving' to a town, befriending one, then taking him for what I could, knowing he couldn't come after me with the police..."

I really commend you on the progress youíve made in life. One of the reasons I enjoy reading your posts so much is your focus on self improvement as well as being able to relate to your previous life experiences. Iíve been sober for ~15 years and it fills me with great joy to be being able to live vicariously through someone making the same transformation. I hope you continue to follow this path and wish you the best of luck in poker and life going forward.

People who were unfortunate enough to have interactions with you during that period deserve to be made whole and I hope you do the right thing as your last post indicates.

Re: Success, Sobriety, and Financial Freedom: Out of Poker Retirement and back to Mid/Hi Stakes

I am sorry but this thread should be left open.

This isn't about having a back and forth, there isn't really a back and forth to be had here. You stole money at a very low point in your life, and you currently refuse to return it at the moment without stipulations. That's all there is to this subject. You're in the wrong, being drunk at the time does not excuse your actions, however awful it may have been for you.

^^Was this guy right above me banned for saying this thread should be open and the money that was stolen be paid back? He’s got 8,460 posts since 2008. I’d he hard pressed to think he was banned over that but it seems to be his last active post.

lol, well maybe contact a different mod. Pontylad seems very opinionated on the matter.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing about whether "people have a right to see this". I'm saying that from my understanding, Bobo Fett has told me that people in PGC have some say over what goes on in their thread, including personal information that's released. It's certainly possible this falls into the category of stuff they wouldn't want to exclude, but it's a worth IMO

I was just kinda asking (figuring somebody would chime in like you did).

But what he said doesn’t seem even close to ban worthy.

Ponty is not actually banned. He's had that in his profile as a joke for ages

Hi Fellowship, Isunkurbttlship is correct, it's just an under title. I

I've always been pretty vocal that people who have scammed other players should pay back their debts. As I stated before, I actually very much enjoyed this thread and OP's posts but he is still withholding $15000 of someone else's money while posting 6 figure quarterly's.

I disagree entirely with the family stuff posted on that website, it's nothing to do with them but that being said this is all the consequences of OP's actions. While unfortunate, being an alcoholic at the time does not absolve his responsibility.

I would be happy to try mediate between him and JB, if both parties wanted, I believe that is unlikely from JB's side though.

I don't know JB, but he is very civilized.

It's hard for me to imagine someone stealing 15k from me, taunting me about it, then saying they're gonna kick my ass if they ever see me. I mean f**k. If there was ever a time to commit to total war against another man, that would be it. I suppose JB did it to the best of his ability.

Just another fan of the thread here, mirroring what others have said. I relate to your struggles to a degree and as such, I am always rooting for you. Here's to hoping you continue on your redemption arc here and pay off past debts

Re: Success, Sobriety, and Financial Freedom: Out of Poker Retirement and back to Mid/Hi Stakes

locking this thread at OPs request as I don't see a reason for it to be left open. It sounds like he has an agreement with the person he owes money to and whether or not any of us agree or disagree with that agreement doesn't really matter. If you are the person who is owed money and that's not actually the case, or if you think OP owes you money and is ignoring you (and thus this thread being locked harms your ability to make it known) then please PM me.

Also I deleted the post with the link because it has names of his friends and family that arent involved.
