Re: straykatbluz 2013 thread, staked in MTT's

THE RUN BAD CONTINUES.
Felt I was playing really good yesterday and was running alot better than the days before, but still just losing the standard crap at the crucial times eg,
30 left in $5.50 2R1A, AJ vs KJ - K 2 3 8 K

But Im going to win something today and show the variance whos boss. 11pm here now, Started at 10pm with the Big $33 and $5R+. Probably reg through until 6am with the Big $11, or might cut short and make Big $22 at 4am my last one.

Also only about 60 or 70 bucks off cracking 30k total cashes, so only 20k more to go till I can tick the first goal off the list!

Will update later with how this sesh goes.

Re: straykatbluz 2013 thread, staked in MTT's

Variance is still the boss it seems. Losing every hand where I have them dominated AK AQ etc. Not sure how much longer the run bad will continue but hope it changes soon.

Still have 5 games up but calling it quits once these end and skipping big $11.

FEBRUARY REVIEW

So it's the end of the month and I'm gonna go over how this month went and how I want the next month to go.

I'd been looking forward to this series as soon as I heard about it.
I wanted to play 8/10 of the events (excluding 2 omaha) and 7 of those were within my stake.
The $215 Main Event was obviously out but I was able to play it from backers and friends buying action.

Event 1# $22 Turbo 2x Chance - 18/433 $76
Event 2# OMAHA N/A
Event 3# $33 NLH [12k] - 1st / 396 $2,230
Event 4# $22 Heads Up - Busted first match early on
Event 5# OMAHA N/A
Event 6# $22 6 Max - OVERSLEPT
Event 7# $44 NLH [15k] - CANCELLED (server restart, bs)
Event 8# $11R+ 6 Max [10k] - 2nd / 291 $1,530 (2 outered and 3 outered both times for the win)
Event 9# $11 [1R1A] 15th / 285 $90 (flush vs flush)
Event 10# $215 Main Event [50k] Busted 5 from the money

Ended up winning Player of the Series on the ANZOPS leaderboard and got a $2200 Main Event ticket for the Sydney ANZPT, March 21st. Last year was $200k+ for first haha, dreeeaming...

Had a bitter/sweet run in the big's this month.
Good before bad though...

13th February:
The Big $16.50 1st / 1,968 - $4,300

It was my second win in the $16.50 (first one was Christmas night 2012).
This was 2 days after I won the ANZOPS tourney so I was stoked and feeling confident, playing really well and owned souls final 30 to take a big chiplead to the FT. Took a deal heads up for $4300, 2nd taking $3.9. We got heads up with my 3.2mil to his 2.5 and 1st was supposed to be $4.7, 2nd $3.5. I felt I had an edge on him HU but decided to play it safe and take the deal, especially considering I got an extra hundo in the deal from the offered numbers. I was losing $800 if I risked playing on for the extra $400 and lost, so I was alright with the deal.

But nothing good lasts forever, as I soon found out in the final 12 of the Big $33 ten days later.

February 23rd:
The Big $33 12th / 1,427 - $365

1st place: $7,200
CL stack: 500k

stray: 340k
luckbox: 350k

2,500/5,000

UTG I look down at KK (ohh yeah)
I raise it up to $12,500
Mid pos luckbox 3 bets to $26,200
Action folds to me.
Tank...
Tank...
$61,400

He snap flats...

FLOP:
2710

I bet $81,000

He SNAP shoves
I SNAP call

KK
VS
QQ

For chiplead with 700k, 11 left, $7,200 up top...

2710

Q

2

BLERGHHH!!!

February 23rd: (same day)
The Big $22 102nd / 4,070 - $105

___________________________________

GRAPH - FEB 2013

The start of that dowswing was on the 14th/15th, but about 80% of it is from the last week.

Still pretty happy with how the month went. The worst part of it all probably wasnt the Big $33, it was actually the 6 max ANZOPS where I got 2nd.
We had 850k each to start heads up. I got up to 1.4 mil and 3 bet shoved A6 on his 250k, he called with Q6

A2Q7:Q

Then we get it even and get it all in again:
A10 VS A8

23892

LOVING IT

Ah well...

Re: straykatbluz 2013 thread, staked in MTT's

Another bad day today. Took some rough 2 outers. But finished off with a few 6 max hypers to get my points just enough to reach Gold Star status with about 2 hours to spare.

Think I'm gonna have a break from poker for a day, maybe a couple, would be good to shake off some of this run bad and come back feeling refreshed and motivated.
My backers recommended a book "The Mental Game of Poker" which I've read a third of but never finished so might do that during the break. Have heard nothing but good things about it..

More helpful than reporting you want to edit your post would be telling us in the post report what you would like changed. We can't just "enable" your OP for editing - we have to edit it for you.

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

Was driving home the other day and decided to stop in at a music store at the last minute. I'd been wanting to buy another guitar since I got some $$ in the bank but I always buy online and get them from America and save a ton.

So I went in thinking there was no way I'd end up buying anything, If i found something good I'd just go home and buy it online.... but I ended up finding this Fender Semi Acoustic bass. The tag said $780 but the place was quiet and obviously didnt get much business, so I lowballed him and said I could only spend $600 and that if he'd do it for that I'd take it right there. My read was spot on as he jumped at the deal and threw in a strap haha. Salesman fish. I would've paid $700.

It's always so much sweeter buying something big with poker winnings then with other money haha.

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

Today went better than most of the days in the last week. Still a -$ day but not by much. Ran deep in the $11R+ Action Hour but took 20th. Everything went downhill after I lost blind vs blind 1010 vs AK in the final 24. Board ran out 2 10 J 9 Q, naturally haha. First was 3k which would've got me out of makeup and then some.

Looking forward to the ANZPT this month. On the 13th is the $330 Opening Event, 10k start stack, 40min levels. First will probably be between 40 and 50k for the Sydney one.
Then on the 21st I've got the Main. 20k start stack, 1hr blinds. Cant wait for that.
Definitely going to sell off some action for my Main, and possibly the opening.

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

Made my first final table in forever. Today's been good... feels like a switched has been flicked and i've been running crazy good compared to the last week - two weeks. My AK is somehow holding against AQ after flopping the K, I know right? WEIRD. But I'm not complaining.

9 left now in $11R+ Action Hour, 380 entrants... $2.8k up top.

Would feel so much better about poker in general if I could walk a way with a nice cash, get out of this dirty makeup.

Ended up 3rd for $1.5k

Supernova chipleader to my left was raising 99% pre, was 3 betting anything anyone did, 5 betting 4 bets, going crazy. Other guy and me exchanged 2nd place a few times back and forth and then the aggro guy eventually picks up a monster and the rest is obvious. Feel I could have and should have been able to lock in a 2nd.
Still a good day, happy with how everything went. Played a few 45 mans today aswell and won two of those so definitely the best day I've had in a while. Feelin good

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

20,000 people in Sydney.

Went and saw KISS and Motley Crue on the 9th March in Sydney.
Got front row, the drummer from KISS threw me a drumstick, Gene Simmons threw me his water bottle. Got guitar pics off KISS and got heaps of good videos, just an awesome night all around.

Returned to poker this morning after a 2 day break and within a few hours I was just way too tilted. Was getting ridiculous beats yet again and let it get to me. I've got the opening event for ANZPT on Wednesday and right now all I can think about is unregistering because I know I'm just going to get 2 outered on the bubble...
This is the mindset I'm in at the moment and it's probably a good idea I stay away from poker for a bit. I need to keep working on my mental game. I'm not going to win everyday and that's just the way it is. Also need to get back into the more patient mindset I had in February,

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

Played the $330 Opening Event last night in Sydney at Star City. Got stuck in traffic on the way and sat down about 20mins late.
I hate sitting across from the dealer in live poker, its always so much more comfortable sitting at one of the ends so you can see everyone. But lastnight I drew the seat right infront of the dealer which I saw as a bad sign.

I was pretty card dead throughout the whole tournament, except AA twice (paid off once) and KK (walked). There was 330 entrants and I ended up about 140th, 59 ended up making day 2.

On my final hand with 7.7k at 200/400/50 I 3 bet shoved 99 over a raise of 1k.
The guy to my left went to put his 10k or so all in but then stopped and said to the dealer

"how much is it?"

The dealer said 7.7 (it was clearly less than 10k), and the guy put his chips in.
Everyone folded and I rolled over nines and said "AK?"

Because surely there's no need to stop and pull your chips back and ask for a count if he is short also and has JJ or better right?
So AK/AQ made sense... He says yeah AK. and then rolls over KK.

"oh, wait, sorry i meant KK"

"why would you even do that?" I said

he had a bit of a giggle and said "sorry, sorry I thought I said Kings"

"come on give me a 9 ball for some justice..." i cried

Everyone at the table wanted the nine. He'd slowrolled earlier when he called a river bet on Q K 3 5 Q. His opponent showed an A and said A high. Then the idiot said "me too" and showed an ace.
then 5 seconds later dropped a queen...

The board ran out 6 6 Q 5 7 and I was gone. It's a re entry (3 flights) and I was going to try friday but I dont think Ill bother. The quality of players that registered was what you'd find in a Daily Dollar on full tilt. One guy was limping AA and AK suited, he'd also limp 54o and call massive 3 bet squeezes and flop the nuts. He called some guy pre flop, flop and turn before checking his cards and ended up with the same hand as the guy with a flopped straight. So tilting.

I think I'll give the opening event a miss and just get ready for the Main Event. Want to try and improve my life game as much as possible before then. I use to prefer live but lastnight just felt weird, getting so few hands per level and being card dead at the same time is just a disaster and there weren't enough spots to try and chip up with some smallball because everyone was just playing so spewy.

Getting back into the online grind tomorrow, will probably play everyday for the next 4 or 5 days and put in lots of volume. Will play some of the micro millions aswell, but probably wont bother with the really small buy in turbo stuff. too much of a donkfest

Just got 77th out of 8.5k in $2.20R+ 2x turbo Micro Millions.
Was 9.1k for first, sucks to go that deep and just bust in a flip.
Currently 1/30 in $11R+ so trying to close that.

Shipped it.

Did a chop HU with even stacks and played for $200
Out of makeup and feeling good. Big boost to win a tourny after how things had been going.
Has restored a lot of faith in my game.
