Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

http://www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-h...289_CBBA719040

Just lost this HUGE chiplead (double second stack) in the 22 1R1A with 19 left. Really devo.
Table was super reggy and active. This guy had been opening alot.

20/20/126 hands. 3b 12.5%
steal 40%

He'd also shown he was opening up light regardless of position so think I had to 3b it pre.
Decided check shoving was the best option as I was pretty certain he was going to bet the turn and it's tough for him to call with KJ QJ even if he is as strong as that. Plus we're never dead.

Played so good that whole tourney and was in the top ten in stacks from atleast the final 200. Sucks to not FT.
Think I took a high variance line but with the dynamics that had been going on, I still don't think I would've played it any different if I had the chance again.

Thoughts?

Turn is disastrous after he calls flop imo. I don't see what value combos we would check on this turn?

pretty much butchered that hand

i'm flatting pre, check calling flop, and check calling turn. just take the less variance line, esp vs another bigstack here.

i think that we cant check at such a turn, just he can think that you are giving it up,and bet calling pushing any pair, your hand is not so strong here,so i prefer bet calling.

thats turn only, i think the bigger issue is what happened before the turn

Yeah i think he can def have AJ-QJ here. Although once he bets the turn it gets more unlikely as he's probably just wanting a showdown with Jx.
With the dynamics and my image I could've played AA KK here the same way.
And with AA KK here on the turn it's either check shove, bet call, bet fold, or check down and call if he v bets river. Out of those options I like check shove best.

yeah that is probably the standard line in any normal tournaments I'd play but with 20 left in the 22c there was a little more dick swinging, and there were some interesting hands going on. I'd been with this guy and others at the table for a long time.
Agree with you tho, this was def high variance line and looking back I kinda wish I thought it out more and just let it go on the turn.

Posted it in my stable and got some comments back. Will copy and paste incase anyones interested:

straykatbluz: He'd also shown he was opening up light, and regardless of position so think I had to 3b it pre.

Person 1# - agree w/ PF. But I dislike your 121k rr on the flop, it's pushing too hard imo. even if he has been active that doesn't mean he's going to be active in this spot and you may not have been active against him so he may not be playing back here.
even if you think you can't fold you can flat that raise. you're getting ~5:1 on 6 discounted outs + 1 backdoor out + very good chance of a turn free card + small percentage of the time you get to showdown and are good.
turn i don't like c/r, if you have any fold equity it's against hands that are going to check behind, not against hands that are going to bet. so every time he bets you have little fold equity and are c/r'ing into monsters

straykatbluz: i worry if we flat the flop raise that we get barreled by f draws and sometimes overs and end up folding the best hand.

Person 1# - You do, but it's still +EV

Person 2# - I think 3 bet pre is optimal.
you can bet/fold flop I think and if the raise is redic small you get a good price on your overs and backdoors

Thanks for the comments, always good to get hand discussion going.

Stone bubbled the early fiddy on Full Tilt last night, 140 entrants, 1.9k up top, got 16th for CL pot.
Still, it's fast becoming my favorite tournament.
Looking forward to playing tonight. GL everyone

+1.

Also i'd 3b a bit larger OOP to something like 32-33k if i did choose to raise any hand here.

Interested to think why people would say 3b-ing AQ here is "optimal" or a better play.

yeah I like 32k.

The comments were from really good players, the owner of the stable I'm in, and a known coach/player on 2p2.

I just think its too passive to not have AQhh in your 3b range from the blinds, espec in that tourney, that deep with the CL. Think it depends alot on the situation/image/table flow aswell though.

speaking of the 22 1R1A, had a really good day online today:

2nd / 251 - "The Bald Eagle" $8.70 Turbo - $330
9th / 736 - $26 Triceratops - $320
6th / 117 - $26 Daily Double A - $135

4 FT's in one session, new pb. Want a ship tho
Sucks to bust just before the payouts got really juicy, bossed it all the way through to FT and then just hit a wall of the worst cards, but am happy with FT'ing it after getting so close last time.
It's probably the toughest/reggiest field I play so I'm feeling really confident and motivated. LOVING new schedule, back at it tomorrow.

Re: straykatbluz 2013 MTT's - USING NUMBERS ON THE CARDS TO MAKE NUMBERS IN THE BANK

Weekend was fun, but too much fizzling out for my liking.
Was running deep in the Storm and the Biggest $22 at the same time.
35k+ up top in both. Probably feels like I went deeper than I did due to the ridiculous amount of entrants, but still...

The Biggest $22 - 130th/14.6k
Sunday Storm - 270th/42.4k
The Bigger $55 - 85th/3.6k
$44 Superstack - 20th
$26 Turbo KO - 19th/220 - net disconnects on the bubble with 17bbs sigh, return to 2bbs and 19th
$26 Big Double A - 2nd/118 - A fine addition to #teamcantclose

Really dissapointed with not shipping the last one. These daily doubles are so so soft.
Always a shock when you don't FT one. More of a shock when its 3-handed and you lose J8 vs 104 on 7 9 10 all in on flop for HU 250k to 40k.... Yeah, the running 10 4 ball.
End up building back and getting HU against same guy and still get 2nd. Bit of a stab to the confidence when you lose HU to a fish
Lost AA vs AQ aipf for 120bbs 1/6 HUGE LEAD in the same tourney the other day. Full Tilt just hates me. But I love Full Tilt and maybe one day it'll love me back

Don't mind saving the bink for a big one though! Perhaps the ANZOPS main!
gl guys

The Biggest $22 - 130th/14.6k
Sunday Storm - 270th/42.4k

So the Biggest $22 tournament had 14,600 players that entered? Was this a rebuy tournament? For finishing 130th, how much money did you win?

and

The Sunday Storm had 42,400 players that entered? Was this also a rebuy tournament? What was the buy in amount for this one? For finishing 270th, how much money did you win?

I have never heard of such a large player field for a single tournament. Seems like you should win a lot for finishing 270 out of 42,400.

Tournaments don't pay well unless you FT.

Biggest $22, 130th = $169.90
Sunday Storm, 269th = $178.09

Good luck this weekend straykatz.

Big $22 and Sunday Storm not rebuys, just $22 and $11 for the Storm.
Yeah it was a MASSIVE field, I had over a million in chips at one point but there was still more than 300 left ha

Yeah I mean it was a good return considering it's only $11 but all the money is right up the top.

1st = $35k.
10th = $1,880.

Now that's sickening. 9 places apart in a 42k field and 33k difference.
Seeing those numbers made me feel better because realistically you need to FT it to start getting excited about the money

Wow that's amazing, its a huge difference between 1st and 10th. Still, It's a great deal to invest $11 to try to win those amounts. How many hours did you play the Sunday Storm before you busted?
