Hey guys, I've been a lurker for years. First time posting, so be nice.

I just quit my job living in Las Vegas. I've been looking to get a job elsewhere, but considering I'm moving in 6 months I decided this would be a more fun way to spend the time until August.

I have about $4500 dedicated for poker. I will be playing full-time for the first time starting at 1/2 NL. The plan is to start buying in at that level for $200, then buying in for $300 once I hit $6k roll. (What do you think?) Then once I'm comfortable I'll start playing 1/3NL for the same buy in. If/when I get to $10k I'll start playing 2/5 for $500 on weekends when the game is best to transition. We'll see how things go.
Before you tell me how bad of an idea this is in general, I have multiple backup plans. So it's not the end of the world by any means if I go broke.

This won't be the most interesting thread in the PG&C forum but I will keep it updated a couple times a week with hand histories and results.
Wish me luck, and feel free to ask me any questions or give your opinions. I welcome the constructive criticism. Good luck at the tables!

So I've played a few sessions over the past couple days. I feel like I played well but things didn't work out in a few hands putting me at a loss.
I decided that every update I'm going to try to post one hand I think I played well, and one hand I think I played badly.

The past couple days haven't been super interesting in terms of hands, but these are what I wrote down.

Hand I THINK I played well:

I sit down at Venetian with $200 @ 1/2 NL, everyone at the table is an unknown except one irrelevant guy to my right.
V is a mid 50's looking foreign guy, can't really tell what nationality because of the sunglasses and hat he has on. Has me covered.

4 limps including V in CO
Hero checks his BB with 67o

Flop($10): T 8 9
Hero is first to act and bets $10
Folds to V who calls

Turn($30): 3
Hero bets $35
V quickly calls

River($100): 7
Hero checks
Villain bets $55
Hero folds

I picked this one because of my sizing. I don't feel he's folding any 2p or pair+OESD combo on the turn, so I decided to go for max value. I probably could have even gotten away with betting a little more. Standardish hand, but happy with it. He flashed me a J before he mucked.

Hand I THINK I played badly:

In this one I hadn't been at the table long again. The table is tight, and V is a seemingly OMCish guy.
I have about $225 and he covers.

Two limps, V makes it $6 in the HJ??
Hero calls in the BB with red 22, other guys call. Four way flop.

Flop($25): 2 T 3
Hero leads $15
Irrelevant calls
V raises to $30??
Hero decides to call
other guy folds

Turn($100): T
Oh great, I'm thinking. That's probably the worst card in the deck for me. Totally kills my action against his likely overpair. Maybe I should lead into him again, because he won't call a raise with that card. (Is what I was thinking)

Hero leads $65
V calls

River($230): Q For a final board of: T 2 3 T Q

Hero leads $100..??
V raises all in
Hero calls $35

V shows TT for quads

I feel like I played this one badly on every street for somewhat obvious reasons. I played it this way at the time because I was thinking that if I were to raise at any point, he'd be able to fold all his overpairs. But the thing is, I don't know that. I'd never seen him fold an overpair before that, so I was making assumptions just because of his age.
With the flop going four ways I think a c/r was a much better option on that street.
On the turn, my assumptions got the better of me. I think this is creative, and possibly more correctly played that flop or river, but I shouldn't have gotten to the point where I didn't have the betting lead going into this street.
On the river, I bet $100 out of my $135 stack because I thought it might entice him to call more often on such a scary board with his overpairs. While there is some merit to this, I don't think he's calling $100 yet folding for $135 very often. I should just shove there.

Weirdly played hand, but that time the money was going in anyway. Thanks for reading. Will update in a few days.

Played a few sessions lately.

Hand I think I played well:

V is more or less a maniac in this hand. Makes crazy calls, takes weird lines, and is overall a tough player to play against. However he is definitely not a winning player. We're $160~ effective.

1/2 NL, Loose table. 3am on the strip.

V open limps in MP2
Hero raises to $15 in the HJ with AQ
V calls, heads up.

Flop($33): Q76

V checks
Hero bets $22
V calls

Turn($77): K
V leads $35 leaving himself about $90 left

I think I can be beat a lot of the time here, but considering the board distribution there are a ton of draws he can still have. He can have for example Ad7d for a pair and the turned nfd. Or 89dd. I thought there were probably more draws than Kx, so I decided to just go with it.

Hero shoves
V snap calls, shows A4hh
River bricks

Again, not a super crazy hand but I think it demonstrated a lot of critical thinking for my level, recognizing that I don't have the Ad to give him a lot more p+nfd combos.

Hand I think I played badly:

This hand was more of a single street mistake that could have cost me a lot of money.

V is an old asian woman. Very tight. Been playing for about 2 hours with her. I've only seen her put in a raise postflop twice, and both times it was with the nuts. $300~ effective with her.

UTG limps, MP1 Limps, V in the HJ limps, Hero decides to overlimp 78 in the CO, BB checks. 5 way flop.

Flop($11): 56Q
UTG bets $10
MP1 calls
V calls
H calls

Turn($51): 9 (Bingo)
Checks to MP1, who bets $10.
V raises to $25
Hero calls $25
Mp1 Calls $25

Now, I should have 100% put in a 3b here. V is literally never raising that turn with 2p, and I very rarely think she plays a set this way unless she would have turned it. And I don't think she calls the flop with 99. Basically I can narrow her range down to almost 100% 87, which means I'm freerolling her. What I was thinking at the time was that if I put in a 3b here I might bet MP1 to fold too often. But he was a short stack, so his money wasn't worth getting it in on a freeroll 150bbs deep with V.

River($126):
A
Mp1 checks
V bets $50
Hero raises to $125
Mp1 is all in for $60
V raises All-in
Hero calls,

V shows 87dd. Mp1 mucks. Chop pot.

This is a super costly mistake. I don't know if she ever folds if a club comes on the river, but it's a disaster if she does. I should have put a 3b in here on the turn always at this game.

Thank you for reading, will update later.

So I just got back from a family vacation. Haven't played much, but I have one hand.

1/3 NL
V is a mega tilted old man with a Boston accent. Recently got in a fight with another guy over something extremely trivial. He's in for his third buy-in.
Twice I watched him call a raise, and then overbet donk shove the flop when he hit top pair. He didn't get called but showed both times.

$265 effective with him

Hero raises $12 UTG with AsKx
V calls UTG+1
MP1 calls
SB calls

Flop($50): K J 4
Hero bets $30
V insta shoves one of his stacks in. It's about $125
Rest fold

Can we ever fold to this guy? Can we correlate his crazy shoving action combined with his tiltiness to this specific action? I actually haven't seen him put in a raise before. It's always just been some sort of giant lead bet.
I honestly thought about these things but considering my opponent and the draw heaviness of the board, I shipped it in. He has KJ. Oh well.

Unfortunately I don't have anything else note worthy. Will post more later.

The final I call, he can easily have diamond combos or even KQ
