So I've played a few sessions over the past couple days. I feel like I played well but things didn't work out in a few hands putting me at a loss.
I decided that every update I'm going to try to post one hand I think I played well, and one hand I think I played badly.
The past couple days haven't been super interesting in terms of hands, but these are what I wrote down.
Hand I THINK I played well:
I sit down at Venetian with $200 @ 1/2 NL, everyone at the table is an unknown except one irrelevant guy to my right.
V is a mid 50's looking foreign guy, can't really tell what nationality because of the sunglasses and hat he has on. Has me covered.
4 limps including V in CO
Hero checks his BB with 67o
Flop($10): T
8
9
Hero is first to act and bets $10
Folds to V who calls
Turn($30): 3
Hero bets $35
V quickly calls
River($100): 7
Hero checks
Villain bets $55
Hero folds
I picked this one because of my sizing. I don't feel he's folding any 2p or pair+OESD combo on the turn, so I decided to go for max value. I probably could have even gotten away with betting a little more. Standardish hand, but happy with it. He flashed me a J before he mucked.
Hand I THINK I played badly:
In this one I hadn't been at the table long again. The table is tight, and V is a seemingly OMCish guy.
I have about $225 and he covers.
Two limps, V makes it $6 in the HJ??
Hero calls in the BB with red 22, other guys call. Four way flop.
Flop($25): 2
T
3
Hero leads $15
Irrelevant calls
V raises to $30??
Hero decides to call
other guy folds
Turn($100): T
Oh great, I'm thinking. That's probably the worst card in the deck for me. Totally kills my action against his likely overpair. Maybe I should lead into him again, because he won't call a raise with that card. (Is what I was thinking)
Hero leads $65
V calls
River($230): Q
For a final board of: T
2
3
T
Q
Hero leads $100..??
V raises all in
Hero calls $35
V shows TT for quads
I feel like I played this one badly on every street for somewhat obvious reasons. I played it this way at the time because I was thinking that if I were to raise at any point, he'd be able to fold all his overpairs. But the thing is, I don't know that. I'd never seen him fold an overpair before that, so I was making assumptions just because of his age.
With the flop going four ways I think a c/r was a much better option on that street.
On the turn, my assumptions got the better of me. I think this is creative, and possibly more correctly played that flop or river, but I shouldn't have gotten to the point where I didn't have the betting lead going into this street.
On the river, I bet $100 out of my $135 stack because I thought it might entice him to call more often on such a scary board with his overpairs. While there is some merit to this, I don't think he's calling $100 yet folding for $135 very often. I should just shove there.
Weirdly played hand, but that time the money was going in anyway. Thanks for reading. Will update in a few days.
