Hello all 2 + 2ers,

I am going to use this thread as a personal blog as such in order to keep my poker goals and poker playing in a well organised manner, with the hope of potentially enterainig 1 or 2 along the way. I am a 20 year old college student with a part time job (€10 per euro ) who has a passion for poker. I have ran up a few big sized bankrolls from small deposits but have always spewed my roll off due to truly awful bankroll management.

I would like to think I have had some success in MTTs both online(biggest score =1k) and live (won a local €50 tourney for €800). My major downfall has been playing very high variance game types such as heads up hyper turbos and zoom plo and then chasing my loses when on a downswing, ultimately leading to losing my role. I know I must cut these out completely in order to maintain any sort of income from poker.

I have never put in any study in the past but I know that studying is essential to be a winning player so I am going to make that a priority. I bought Pokertracker 4 before after winning some online MTT and thinking I was a beast but I never utilised it properly so I plan to review all my hands saved on that (probably in the low thousands) before getting on the grind. I plan to improve the quality of the study tools I use as my bankroll grows. I have sorted through what seems to be the best free content available on the web but hope to use sites such as tournament poker edge and raise your edge in the future. I am also going to use programmes such as flopzilla and icmiser when reviewing my previous hands.

One of my biggest problems when previously going on big upswings when gambling, both poker and sports betting, is how gambling took over my life. I would spend my days either planning my next bet/poker game and lose all care for everything else. This time around I want to play poker as part of a balanced or at least semi balanced lifestyle, meaning that when I am not playing/studying poker it is not on my mind.

I want to completely cut out sports betting of my life. I would not even want to know the amount of money that Ive lost. It simply is too hard to constantly profit from. But yet it is so easy to remember some previous big winner you had before and continue betting.

Anyway to put it in concrete my plan/goal involves
(1) Watching and reading a selection of videos and articles available on this site and any other sites to sharpen my game
(2) Reviewing all my previous hands to identify potential leaks in my game
(3) Depositing somewhere between €100-€150 on stars and grinding the $1 180 mans and $1.10 tourneys. This is smaller than the number of buyins I'd like to have for these games but I feel after putting the study in and my playing in lower variance games (Going to try avoid turbo and hyper Mtts) I should be able to handle the variance. Plan to have around the 200 buy in mark for each stake. All of this while constantly studying.

All in all I hope to eventually get to the point where my hourly from online Mtts is around the €12 an hour mark so I can quit my part time job. Thanks for reading and Ill make sure to post any interesting hands from my PT4 database below. If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it !

Wow, €10 per euro is a good ROI for a student job!
Jk!

Good luck!

Just curious; What is your specific study plan? Which concepts will you study first, second, ...
IMO, having a study-structure is equally as important as studying itself.
