It's hard to put him on complete air. There really wasn't a big draw on the flop. Any K beats u that he may be trying to turn into a bluff. Any jack. It smells like kj.

Besides, some of his bluffs beat you. Sometimes when I am not sure mhig I will bluff with a medium strength hand.

When u checked the turn what was your thought process? If you think your ahead on the river, then were you checking the turn to induce? Or for pot control?

I think it's a fold.

Great question. I tanked check turn behind Villain to try to really put him on a hand. Does he river have a king? Wd he check a King to me ott? Does he hv straight draws? Or low to middle pairs? I usually saw him raise pre his middle pairs, so thought prob not. Did the J hit him? So essentially, I checked turn to really try to figure out where he is in the hand. The J ott wasn't too gd of a card either. Also, checked turn, maybe to go to showdown otr. Furthermore, checked turn, to see what he wd do otr. When he tanked shoved river, it didn't smell right; but damn it's sooooo close.

I'll give this a little more time, and finish up the hand late tonight.

I think that villain is trying to push you off of a hand like 99-QQ, which he probably is assigning your range based off of the c-bet on the flop and check turn. You are almost never checking a King on the turn, so he probably has you for a middle pair.

I can definitely see villain showing up with like A2/A4/A5 type of hand.

IMO you are good here more than your are beat. If villain was confident in his hand equity I believe he would make more of a valuish type of bet hoping for a call. The posture are describing in the villain I almost always associate with nuts or nothing. I'm inclined to think he is trying to push you off the hand.

Hope you called.

My stack now is $450 and after an hr into this table I'm starting to get better reads on a couple players I've played w a few times. It was a gd mix of Tag, Lags, and a few fish.

so the hand...

1/2nl full table.

Me: HJ w 1010 $450 stack.
Button: $200 stack, previous orbit called an all in w 72 for $35, day drinker, 25 yr old wearing a wrist band, and tilts easy.
Lady: mp w $300 stack. thinking player, previously 3 bet $60 w AK and open ships $150 on a Jhi dry flop. I only know this because she was called by the same hand for a chop.
Villain: on my right w $425 stack. 30yr old, lag, wide range, loves to get involved, aspiring pro, seems he has smthing to prove.

Tilty Button straddles $10 and folded to the Lady in mp who calls. Villain on my right calls, I raise to $55 w 1010. Buttons angrily folds, Lady confidently calls, Villain calls. The flop is K35 not bad for 1010 when it's checked to me. So I make a little less than half size bet of $80. Lady folds, and villain tank calls. The turn is a J Villain pause checks, and I tank check. The river is a 4, and Villain tank shoves $290. I tanked for awhile, and finally said "How much?" hoping Villain would talk. Instead the dealer intervened, and wasn't able to get any vocal reads or expressions. Dealer responds, "$290." making the pot total $625. Villain is sitting there w a stoic look, his head resting on his fist, elbow on the table, arms making a 45d angle. I glance over 30 secs later, and still same expression w blank face. Then out of nowhere my brain starts racing w all the poker ups/downs from this week. Every crucial hand from the week shoots through my mind as I'm trying to making this decision. Once I clear the clouds in my mind, I say "This is very close, and just not sure." I ended up...

thoughts on folding or calling?

I'll let ya know tomorrow.
Tomorrow is here...
I haven't tanked this much in awhile. Def the longest tank of the month. @tswpoker1 we r along the same thought process on this one. I ultimately felt if Villain had a K he wd prob bet for value otr. I was still a lil worried about the J too...thinking he cd possibly jam any J hand. But after giving it sm thought, I fig Villain wd prob take the check/call or check/fold line on river if he had a J hand. The shoved looked fishy.
I stared Villain down one last time, and then went w my read and said "Call.".
He replies w, "Pair". I say, "How big?". Villain says, "Not big, u prob got me beat." I said, "I'm not sure." I'm waiting for him to turn his hand over, and the suspense is killing me. Turn your hand over already! Jeez. He finally shows 74 giving him a gut shot otf, and rivering a small pair.
Sweet! I table my pocket 10s, and scooped a nice one. I received the "nice call" compliments from a few table mates, and was soon in a poker zone. The kind of zones that makes ya feel like u can win every pot. Ended up winning +$783 on a short 4 hours Thursday.
Didn't play today. Went to a music fest w the family.

Poker is fun again.

Thanks @ashberj.

I guess I'll share my August month data w you guys since I hv no video to attach. It's another winning month, and the streak continues on. So it's been smthing like 2 years or so since I had a losing month. I think what helps this streak is making smart decisions and staying within the roll. Trust me, I wanted badly to play the Labor Day Tourney in Cincy, but I also need winning months that can provide. I just can't risk a bad month.
I think if I do have a losing month this year, it cd b in October. This month I am willing to take a risk. I'm going after these WSOP events at HSI. To me, that's worth risking a losing month. It's my one time.

August Cash Game results. Avg about 20hrs a wk playing just cash games. It's always been hard for me to log long hrs.

Tourney Results. Played 3 (2 Denny Crum events), and 1 Midstakes Main Event in Evansville. I wanted to play Cincy Labor Day, and HPT at Amerista, but bought a Jeep/took the conservative route. W the discounted rate on Denny's ($290, $425) and losing a full buy n at MSPT ($1110) brings total loss to neg -$1,825 this month on Ts.

Overall another winning month +$2,469, so I'll take it!

Appreciate all the support. Thanks for keeping motivated!!!

Well done Rayz!! Glad you make the good call, way to put together the pieces and figure this guy out. I don't hate his play, he just picked the WRONG opponent!! Against old man coffees, and most of the TAGs this probably is a +EV bet on his end, but he wrangled with the wrong cowboy on this one.

Keep crushing!!!

PS - I know you usually don't play Saturday's, but I'm heading up there in a bit and I'll be on the look-out for you just in case.

Thanks man. Today was pretty brutal, seemed to yo-yo all day, but booked a winner so I can't complain too much, just bled more than I would've like. I had a few interesting spots today, but one hand in particular made my kick myself.

I lost this pot to old man Pete, who you probably know. My table was very reg fested actually. Sue, Ron, Pete, and a couple older players I recognized.

So I was on the button and straddled $5. My table was very active and everyone loved to see flops, so I was only re-raising with premiums, but mixing it up with a lot of other hands. I get 6 other callers and look down at K6 spades and elect to check.

Flop came As4h3d, it checks around to me and I just check it, didn't feel the need to get too crazy. Turn 5s. Now I've got open ended straight draw plus nut flush draw, and it doesn't seem if anyone has too much at this point. Well small blind bets out $10 and Pete raises it up to $30. It folds around to a younger 2/5 reg who flats and then it's on me. This is the spot that I felt I screwed up on...I didn't think Pete had a 2 in his range unless it was 22, he always seems super tight. The 2/5 reg would have raised with the deuce so I figured he had a potential draw/two pair. I really tanked and tanked about raising and finally just flat called.

The river bricked out and both players checked. This is where I screwed up again I think. I don't think they are every checking straights on the river, and I have to at least try to take it down since I only have king high. Sure enough I check. Pete flips up KQ and drags it down with king high!!! The 2/5 guy flips 89s for the busted draw and I just laughed and mucked.

Do you think a turn raise is wise in that spot? I definitely think a river bet of like $70/$80 has to be made in my spot, I was just afraid it looked so much like a steal and didn't want to get re-raised.

Oh well, thats poker.

I am hardly ever raising the turn, UNLESS I can eliminate all 2s, 67, and set hands. Which is almost impossible. Raiser Pete, flatter, and original bettor can all have these hands. So the raise is just a bad play i feel.

I love how u played the turn by just calling. When river bricks, I also don't mind just waving white flag here either. Heck u only lost $35, and get to move onto another hand. It's so easy in 1/2 to find better spots to dub up. Although, it wd b hard for me personally to check river. Ole man Pete likes to make moves, so that's prob what he was doing on turn, but when he checks river he clearly doesn't have it. After 2/5 guy checks river, he clearly doesn't hv it either. I prob fire out an odd thinking bet of $77. If it got raised, just fold.

Don't mind the check tho either. U booked a win, so gd job buddy.

I been noticing I'm getting a lot of action in that game, so I'm going to try to use that to my advantage. I don't get it...They always want to try to beat me.

My totals are always w ALL stakes combined, but I can filter to see how I'm doing in a particular game, or stake, etc.

WEIRD DAY

Today: I think it was an overall (poker+business) black day, but not sure. So I’ll work it out on here together w 2+2ers. Its confusing, where's the abacus?

POKER:

-played 3hrs 46mins on 1/2nl lost -$96
-played 1hr 56mins on 2/5/10 lost -$231
-played 2hrs 6mins on 1/2nl again won $71

Total loss on the poker side: -$256

BUSINESS:

So Wednesdays they have this promo of Aces full of eights gets u $50 OR can draw from 20 prizes.

Prizes include:

So I never had Aces full 8s or better today, but still did sm wheelin’ and dealin’. A couple of players this morning rather hv the $50 than draw. When I heard this, I offered each players $60 and took their drawing for myself. First time I drew a $120 voucher, and next time $0..

-break even on spending $120 on 2 draws, and getting a $120 nightly turbo voucher.

Guy later in the day drew another $120 nightly turbo, and I offered him $60 for it. He accepted.

-So + $60 on the nightly turbo (bought for $60, and seat value is $120). BUT may sell one nightly turbo voucher for $100 (cd b +$40)????

Around 5 o’clock in the day a 1/2 guy drew the main event seat. One of my buddies tells me at the 2/5/10 game I was playing, so I walked over to the fellow and made him an offer. As I walk up to the table i hear one of his tablemates offer him $700, and he shrugged it off. I say how about $800, he says a $1k, I said sold. Sucky part was I only brought $2300 w me to the poker rm, and I was stuck $1k in the 2/5/10 game. When i lost an aipf for $1k, I rebought for $800. That left me w a few hundo in my wallet, and not enough to pay 1/2 guy wo racking up. The decision was easy for me...Welp, I guess I’m racking up and paying this 1/2 guy $1k. Rule is if u get up from a game, u can’t play the same game until u wait 1hr. I decided to play a little 1/2 and after a couple hrs I just called it a day.

-So +$675 on the main event seat (bought for $1k, and seat value is $1675)

Total win on the business side: +$735

Total day: -$256 (poker) + $735 (business) = +$479 overall

Well, we found out together…I’m in the black +$479. I’ll take it.
