Really wonder why you didn't raise the turn.... You found a flush and just flatted?
I understand deception and all that, but any diamond on river kills your action.

U r correct @riveredflush Villains raise looked super weird, and small. That's why imo, No Way he meant to raise! I shd hv called!!! It was the worse fold ever! That makes 2 mistakes for me in less than a week! First the bad fold, and see a $700 pot slip from my hands. Secondly, I buy a white couch, knowing I have 2 wild little girls that loves to run around the house w markers, Big Red, make up, etc. I've been such a gigantic moron in July!
@isteal smtimes I raise turn n this spot, smtimes not. Depending on opponents, stack size, etc. I was trying to play a big one, and risk non diamond otr. I found the big pot, but didn't follow through w a call. If I raise turn to $50 total, I prob still get calls ott. But river, if checked to me, I prob bet $75, and may or may not get called. I play it differently everytime depending on the situation.

Ima little embarrassed about this horrible blunder, but it's a #fulltransparency thread...The gd and bad is shared here.
72 hrs later...still pissed w my mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today: more house stuff. I been a painting fool lately. Might as well call me Sherwin-Williams! Today my beautiful babe and I r driving 2hrs to a place called IKEA. This place is supposedly the Mecca of all home furnishings stores. Today's goal kitchen table, office desk, light fixtures, and smthing called a throw blanket and a runner (no idea/ask her). Shd b interesting. Oh yeah, mayb they hv sm Stain Gaurd for this white couch I took a gamble on.
Another week and the house shd finally b put together. Then it will be all grind all the time. Gonna go on a mission and run it up!

I think you got extremely lucky the pot did what it did on the river. First they had to hit a non diamond straight. So that's about 12 percent. Actually less because you have one of their outs. Other than that, there is very little money going into the pot on the river. On top of the 12 percent shot, people also have to be stupid with straights when a flush is out there. Again, not typical. Granted you got lucky they did and made a mistake but most times they are bricking river and it's never gonna get big....

What about times you have over flushed someone and you just flatted. It's such a huge mistake when you have over flushed someone.

Did someone have the q of diamonds? Even more reasons to raise turn.. Always gonna get called there. Plus if villian are as bad as described... They are gonna call a decent reraise.

I think not raising the turn is a leak. You got extremely lucky for the pot to get big(they hit non diamond straight) and they were kinda idiots about it. Odds of that are pretty slim day to day.

I highly suggest to raise the turn if you want to build a pot. Plus if you did overflush someone on the river when you wake up and start shoveling money in, it looks suspicious. And at that point they can't say you are on a higher 4 flush draw... Easier for then to just flat on river when u raise vs on turn when they can easily level themselves into thinking ur just playing the Ace fast. Plus even if they are suspicious, your gonna get a lot more money this way.

I think there is flawed thinking in saying " wanted to play a big one" and you don't raise turn.... Only way to build a pot is to put money in it. Sometimes I will flat aces preflop cuz of this theory. But I have 3 streets to make things happen. Once you flat turn, you have one street left.

Just my two cents worth.

Also when you underrep a hand or play it in a non standard way, you have to call river. Guy didn't think you had a flush cuz u flatted turn. That should have been taken into account, which makes a call easier on river as played.

@isteal u say right. I been on suicide watch ever sense this hand. I went to IKEA (home furnishing store) a few days ago and spent almost exactly what was in the pot on that hand! Damn, I cd hv free rolled sm home furnishings!...instead I put a dent in the roll!
Random thought- isn't "almost exactly" (used in 3rd sentence above) a oxymoron? Exact is either exact, or not. No in between, or "almost".

I'm not finding this anywhere in my post.

I blew 400 in a hand two weeks ago. Flop was 933 and couldn't put a guy on a 3 even though his range is the entire deck. Just couldn't fold the aces... It was horrible.

We all make mistakes but try not to beat yourself up. If you learn from it you get better.

Its been a week since the hand that put me in a mild depression. Not really, but I was mad at myself for about 5 straight days. Usually when I play bad or take a bad beat, it takes me a few days to recover. But this moronic hand stuck w me a little longer than usual. It was such a ******ed fold, and a donk moment that it was hard to erase from my brain. I tried to sort it out and put into perspective of real world crisis, but it always seemed to surface to the top of my list. I finally talked myself into that the hand means nothing. The year as a whole has been great, and I'm blessed w a great healthy family, therefore I'm gd in the big picture. No more self pity of one lousy hand...it's time to live the zen life again. Over it.

Finally moved in, rooms painted, things assemble, and adjusting nicely to the new home. That means one thing and one thing only...POKER FULL THROTTLE here on out! We going hard last 5 months w continuous grind, sm major tournaments, and taking sm big calculated shots. I'm gonna make smthing happen!!! If u want it bad enough, u got to go after it and get it. And I want it bad! I want big scores, I want a title, I want a ring, I want to play the biggest cash games in the Midwest, I want to be the best. Time for action, no more talk. The time is NOW! I'm not going to press, tho, just let it come to me. I will continue to play every hand the best I can play it, and stay within the roll. This mindset will eventually get me to the top. It may take a little time, but honestly it feels like it's around the corner for me. Gonna start this mission tomo with sm 2/5/10nl at HSI. Over the next week I plan on logging a lot of hours in cash, and play a few tournaments of the Denny Crum open at HSI. I bought 6 vouchers off sm promo winners, so hoping it turns into a gd investment! It's been awhile since I played a tourney (which is prob a gd thing), but since I'm getting in for around half price I thought it wd b +ev.
Also, I plan on taking a couple shots at 5/10/20nl again smtime in the near future if roll is right. It's been a couple months since I sat in the game, and it's my goal to get there and stay there.
Mission breakthrough. #timeisnow

Nice score on the tourney vouchers. How much are you selling them for? I might buy one for my sister as she loves to play poker but usually doesn't have the money/time to play with her two kids. I think if I put up the money and talked to her husband we might be able to get her in the game. PM me a quote

The rake is junky!!!!
That's why I am just playing the 2 where money is added to prize pool ($5k added in next Fridays event and a $10kmain seat added in main). The only other one I'm playing is the $10k guarantee. The rake is absurd in the Denny!

Yep I'll b playing the deep stack at HCO in August and plan on winning it.

up to date results (including today) r: +$26,151 in cash -$1461 in tournaments. $51/hr. 514 total cash game hrs. Only averaging 18hrs/wk in cash (prolly 20ishhrs/wk including tourneys). kind of embarrassed by lack of hrs grinded, but it's the truth. Preparing to log more hours through the rest of year. Gonna try to bring this average up to at least 25hrs/wk. I am averaging 9hrs/wk playing tennis though

thanks. I may do it again- mayb next time I sit n 5/10/20nl. It's kind of hard tho wo wifi n the room. It's spotty reception/hitnmiss at best.

Today: I played 1/2nl for 4hrs and won $41 before 2/5 got going. Then the 2/5nl (winner straddle) game got goin. Straddles on avg were $15. I was stuck $1500ish in that game and grinded back a lot of it, but still lost -$310 on 4hrs 15mins. No big mistakes on my part, but mayb shd hv followed through w more aggressive lines on sm hands. A couple hands I check-raised flop in early position w flush draw on one hand, and a flush gut draw other hand. When turn bricked on both if these hands I check, and when river bricked I waved the white flag and checked again. I took this line twice and gave up both times. Sure I did get to c turn and river for no bets both times, but I prob shd have put in a pot size bet on turn. Or took a different line of just calling flop and check-raising turn. If I miss on turn and it is a dry brick smtimes check raising here (oppose to flop) can b a better play. They usually gv u credit for a strong made hand and not just flopping a flush draw. Most people raise their flush draws otf, so ott can smtimes be deceptive and can take it down w more $ in the pot. It does make it tricky otr tho if called. Better hope u hit that flush, if not u may hv to bet huge otr. Risky. Mayb I did right by taking the safe line n both hand. Who knows? It's all situational. That game plays TOUGH! These players r ALWAYS making moves! For me, it's all about timing and spots. I usually run card dead in these big games and it sucks! It sucks mostly because it gives me a tight image due to folding rags a lot. It's not the image I want, but it has helped me make sm pretty easy bluffs.
Overall lose -$269 today

Me: came in the morning and table has been goin through the night, buy in for half the big, $800 stack and chip up to $1000 after an hour.
The hand-
3limps to me, I call $2 in hj w K2. 6 total limpers to a flop of 59Q. Villain, fiirst to act, makes a pot size bet of $10. Sidenote: an orbit earlier he over bets $100 aiof into a $30 pot (dry flop) w 2 pair. That sneaky bastard made me pay him off w AK (pairs Aces on flop). This lousy hand is all I had to go by for the hand in question. Anyways, I call villain’s $10, Player x calls $10 behind me. 3way to turn (pot $40sih) brings an 8. Villain leads out $15, I call, player x calls. $80ish pot heading to the river 10. Villain leads out $55, I raise to $140, player X calls the $140, and now it’s back on Villain. Villain asks the dealer, “How much?” and then puts out 2 black chips for a re raise. Back to me to call the $115 river 3bet, or fold it. I tank for a few minutes, $115 to win $635ish (maybe $750ish if player x calls too). I’m trying to figure out what this Villain guy has. My mind went back in forth like a masturbator! Call, fold, call, fold, call, fold, call, fold. I’m peeling my cards back every 30 seconds hoping it wd somehow change from 3rd nuts. Every time I looked, I saw the same old K2. Never seen a hand look so vulnerable to a small enticing river re raise. I kind of felt bad for ole K2. After much thought, K2-3rdnutz and I….
What’s the play? What's Villain’s hand range here w no history. Let u know tomo?
I'm still amazed by this hand. I'm not sure which play was worst, Player X calling a raise with just a straight on a flush board, or Villain reraising after the raise and a call.

As it turned out, the better play for Ray would not to have been fold or call, but to raise!
