They must be some amazing door to add that much value to a property.

Just watch when he sells that house for 20k over asking in under a day. No singles or doubles!!! Homeruns only

Those glass doors are going to look out at the sweetest 9 hole mini-golf course, and I can’t wait to see the drone shots. Started with a <img /nl challenge, now we're here.

Worst case scenario he takes the doors off and returns them.

It’s not even an 11k door

- Sales tax isn’t included, 7%, so 11.5k

- If sales tax wasn’t included, is shipping included? Doubtful because you’d put in your state to determine rough shipping costs so sales tax probably would have been included also. But maybe it’s a flat rate, so idk

- cost of permits (lol, I know he’s probably not getting a permit, which will be hilarious when he tries to sell the house and any non-moron realtor pulls permits for the potential buyer, because there is now gigantic glass door where a structural wall used to be. When BS doesn’t disclose that he did it without permits, he’d probably be on the hook criminally and monetarily if it ever fails.)

- engineering costs (lol, why would he need that, he’ll just figure it out himself)

- costs to materials to install. He’s removing the support to the floor/wall above, that needs to be replaced. A LVL is going to cost like 100-200 per LF, call it 2k-4k just for the LVL. Steel would cost more, especially right now. Then there is the insane prices of building materials right now. A 2x4 is currently like $10+

- the cost of labor for installation (lol, he’s going to do it himself - sure, maybe he can, but this is significantly harder than redoing floors.)

Installed, this is probably closer to a $25k job.... on a $150k house

I was able to find out if an 8 foot section of non structural wall could be taken down between kitchen and living room, cost about $500 for a guy to come take a look at it and do a quick drawing.

this door is a luxury item that typically goes on luxury houses. luxury houses have 9', 10', or even taller ceilings. that makes putting a header above this door no big deal, it would just go under the header joist or just become a floor joust itself depending on floor joist direction .

because this is, i'm assuming because it's 130k, probably a standard 8' ceiling house, if the removing joist is a header joist BS will have to completely remove the header joist and probably shorten the floor joists to accommodate what will almost certainly be a thicker header joist made by an LVL. then a double plate needs to be installed. if this is an 8' ceiling house, it might not even be possible to install this door because of the double plate, which would be 3" below the header joist, therefore there is less than an 8 foot opening.

granted, i'm not a framer, so consult a professional

it's obv absurd to put an $11k (uninstalled) door on some fixer upper worth barely 10x the price of the door. it's obv going to look ridiculously out of place. i dont think anyone disputes that. i dont think i needed to be the 12th person to say it though, so i commented on different aspects that i don't think anyone else had done

Now I just feel bad for pointing out how silly the door thing is. Let's change the subject: how many tools that can be rented at home depot will BS buy and return without feeling guilty for?

Goal is to get this done for under $15k.

Mind u, I wd hv bought this house for $150k. We got it for $130k. This is our splurge. #insidethepark

Rayz is trolling you all so hard. There's no chance he's dropping $11k on doors. Zero chance.

When faced with the option of dropping $11K on the stockz or $11K on some gawdy doors and a flip house....he isnt buying the doors.

On a side note RE: the doors, isn't that precisely why this thread exists? 50 posts on a damn door due to the ridiculousness of adding $11K doors to a $130K house. Something only Rayz would come up with and think it's genius.

This reminds me of people who take a 20K car, put 30K into mods and think their car is now worth 50K, when they'd be lucky to get 30 for it. People who want highly customized things want to customize it to their own tastes, usually.

Even w the 16’ doors, I will still b able to sell the house for > money put into house. Where as, ur civic, most likely can’t.

U guys do hv me second thinking now. Nah, we getting the door. We bring that beautiful outside inside. Need that vitamin D to live. Without I am not my best version of me.
