I would pay $20 to sit at his table.

Hey do you know the rake on the Midwest Poker Championships in March? You said the dailys are pretty bad, and was wondering about this event. It doesn't have any info on the tourney sheet, and none of the pit bosses could give me an answer. Thank you

This week has been donuts, bagels, zilch. $0! My 2yr old is sick, so I been at home with her this week. My lady and I alternate when stuff like this comes up, and now its my turn. Hopefully tomorrow she will be well enough to go back to daycare. Hey it's life, this stuff happens, no biggie. This is where I really do miss playing online. When she's napping, I could b multitabling. Well, I'll just have to log more hours in the days/wks ahead, no sweat. #familyman
btw-If i was to set the over/under on online play in Indiana, i'm thinking March 27, 2015. Whatcha think? Which side would u take?

So far 15 sessions, won 9 lost 4, and 1 break even. Biggest win $749, Biggest loss $800. Not happy with these results. Need to somehow manage the losses better.

About this hand. I like how you played it. Only thing I would of done dif is flat the $100 raise from the straddle and play it more cautiously. I'm a bit of a nit, so I like to see the flop before a large bet.

Need to win $589 over the next few days to put me in the $3ks for the month. If I wouldnt of played a certain 2 hands like a moron this month, then I'd already have surpassed 3k. The 2 hands in questions are: one hand i put my opponent on JJ when it shd of been more logical for me to put him on AA, or KK. I had QQs and lose a big one. The 2nd hand I tried set a trap and got "Johnny ReTrapped" by a bigger hand that cost me another big loss. Lesson learned here: play every hand the best I can possibly play it, stay focused, and make wise decisions.
Behind the 8ball (not literally -no cocaine in front of me, or pool ball. Just figuratively speaking) in this challenge thus far.
Hope everyone shredds it this week at the tables

End of Month Review - Towards the end of the month it felt that I was forcing it a bit knowing I needed to b around $3500 to stay on track for this challenge. Needless to say, I came up way short. To make up for this, I must play more hours next month!! This month I had just 107 hrs (below avg). I am playing my first tournament of 2013 next month-CPC event 1 $350nlhe ($1mil guarantee). Some run good wd b nice.

End of month results: cash games 107hrs @ $21 = $2247 running total
$0 (of the $5k) invested in tournaments. (My 1st tourney is feb 24th)

I had to stay at the home front a little more this month due to a lot of family sickness. This took some hours away from work. So in order to keep an avg of at least 30hrs/wk (per challenge requirements), I will have to log at least 135hrs in Feb. It is my plan to stick to ALL the guidelines I set in place on page 1. A Quick Review of those guidelines are: 1) play only 1/2 & 1/ 3nlhe ONLY all year. 2) buyin for $300-$800 each session 3) invest UP to $5k in tourneys. Tournaments will b tallied separately and added/deducted to the cash game totals at the end of year. 4) play an avg of 30hrs/wk.
Objective- To make $40k in 2013 under the guidelines set for myself.
Special thanks this month to all the subscribers, twitter followers, and friends. Ur support gives me motivation, determination, and drive.
Thanks RayzRayl

I second what bvggocats said. I see a good February coming your way. Can you stake me in the WSOP main event tournament if u get top 5 in CPC? I'm a good sweat if you make final table, and I will only charge $10k. Lol

@bmess gd luck to u. Say what's up if u c me.

I won $495 today, but it should of been $800. The 3% got there, and it was gross! After the bad beat I tried not to blush, but I could feel my face get warmer by the second. I always try to shrug off the beats and not show emotion. But this one was nasty! I ran the #s on my poker calc just to see how painful it was. When the money went in on the flop I was 97%! Since I said I wouldn't write about bad beats on here, I won't discuss the hand. Lets just say he needed runner runner. #sigh

Any advice on how you discuss your profession with the people close to you? My parents and fiancé just don't get it. I have a baby on the way, and I'm already getting grief from both. They think I spend to much time at the casino. I have a job, I pay my bills, so what's the big deal? Good luck in February

Hopefully you get bored and move up in steaks.

But the thing to consider is you get hit by a giant rake stick at 1/2 and 1/3 and it lessens as you go up.

I don't really enjoy giving my money to the Man.

But yeah it is smarter to make money from other stuff and just play poker for fun or side income in the rare event you can beat the games.

They may never get it. I have been playing for 10 years, and my family is just now starting to understand/get it. If you're a winning player, then maybe try to explain it by comparing it to the stock market. Tell them that their will be ups and downs just like the stock market, but long term the graph trends upwards. I think if you show them proof (graphs, stats, etc) that you are a winning player then maybe they lighten up a bit. If you are losing player, then I can def see their gripe. Congrats on the "father to be". Being a father will change your life!! There is nothing like it. If I could describe it in one word, it would be-"Spiritual".

I cant move up in steaks this year because this challenge is really important to me. I really what to see what I can earn playing these limits all year. With just 2 months in, I have already noticed this challenge has helped tremendously with my discipline. It is propelling me to play every hand perfectly. I'm not making any loose calls, I'm paying more attention to detail, and playing the math/odds as close to perfect as possible. This challenge is facilitating me stay engaged and focused every hand. I am just trying to be the best, and the challenge aids me in that journey. There's a reason for everything...
Next year I will most likely play higher, and you make a great point on the rake. I am no fan of "The Man" either.

Today Update: 10hr sesh today, $139. Below hourly, but happy with my play. I was card dead pretty much all day. 0 for 14 on flopping sets w my pp. It was a tough and tight table. Even though it was just $139, I think today was the best I have played all year. I cant think of anything I would of done differently.
